  • Headsup: We released Christmas Time (Is Here Again) and The Night Before over the holidays.

Post is over on RGW: https://rhythmgamingworld.com/the-beatles-rock-band-custom-dlc-project-a-retrospective-and-a-holiday-surprise/

The Beatles Rock Band Custom DLC Project are proud to announce our return after our short break and showcase our latest release: “Lady Madonna / The Inner Light”. This release completes the Lady Madonna single, by bringing both the lead single and the B-Side into The Beatles: Rock Band library!

Introducing: “Lady Madonna / The Inner Light”.

Let’s start with the A-Side: Lady Madonna.

    Music Video: https://streamable.com/xmx2b4

    Chart Preview: https://streamable.com/5bheh9

“Lady Madonna” was released in 1968, and was intended to fill in the gap in new material while the band travelled to India on a meditation course. Lady Madonna also served as the band’s last release on Parlophone and Capitol before starting to issue all releases under their own Apple Records label. With the song’s heavy blues inspiration shining through profoundly, the track is a natural fit for your The Beatles: Rock Band library sitting perfectly next to tracks like Hey Bulldog and Oh! Darling.

Bonus Fun Fact! Every day of the week is mentioned by name throughout the song with the exception of Saturday. This was later justified by Paul that she must have been out on Saturday night.

Now let’s flip over to the B-Side: “The Inner Light”.

    Music Video: https://streamable.com/39dl56

    Chart Preview: https://streamable.com/fqznkq

“The Inner Light” serves as the B-Side for Lady Madonna, and marks the first time a song written by Harrison appeared on a single release. The song itself draws from classical South Indian music, making it the first time many Beatles fans heard instruments such as the Sarod, Shehnai and Pakavaj. The song received a generally positive reception, and carries a deep legacy. The track being referenced in an episode title of Star Trek: The Next Generation. The track was also famously performed by Jeff Lynne and George’s son Dhani at the “Concert for George” tribute show in 2002. Most recently, the song became the focus of The Inner Light Challenge, a campaign in which The Material World Foundation, a charity set up by George in 1973, pledged to donate $1 towards the MusiCares COVID-19 relief fund, Save The Children and Doctors Without Borders for every “Inner Light Moment” shared online, in which people were asked to share lyrics from the song.

It’s only been a few days since the last pack, but packs are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup, and with that, we’re proud to welcome you back this time for something a little different. Welcome to “John Day 01”. Released to commemorate what would have been John Lennon’s 80th birthday, this pack is not only our first pack that focuses on a specific member of the band, but also introduces our first solo career release into The Beatles Rock Band.

    Introducing: “John Day 01”

Let’s kick off the pack by learning the story of Julia.

    Music Video: https://streamable.com/s1se3h

    Chart Preview: https://streamable.com/o89q0x

Written by John in tribute to his late mother, who died in a car accident when he was young. “Julia” is John’s only solo recording during his career with The Beatles. The song features adapted lyrics inspired by poems from poet Kahlil Gibran, which form the basis for not only the songs intro, but the imagery contained throughout. Julia was also the final song recorded during The White Album sessions.

Thankfully, you don’t need to travel Across The Universe to play this custom.

Initially released as part of charity compilation album “No One’s Gonna Change Our World”, “Across The Universe” later went on to appear on Let It Be, in which it was commonly regarded as one of the stand out tracks of the album. The song has since went on to receive various cover versions recorded by many major artists, including David Bowie, 10cc, Fiona Apple and The Scorpions. On the 40th anniversary of “Across The Universe”, the song was transmitted into Deep Space by NASA, with fans across the world being encouraged to play the song while the transmission occurred, making the song potentially one of the most heard songs of all time.

If you want to be a Working Class Hero, this is the release for you.

Our first release from a member’s solo career, “Working Class Hero” comes to us from Plastic Ono Band, and was heavily inspired by political movements occurring at the time, and the thoughts he was experiencing as a result of seeing what was happening in the world around him. “Working Class Hero” carries on the political messaging in John’s music that started with tracks such as Revolution.

Welcome to the next pack released by The Beatles Rock Band Custom DLC Project Team, this time, we are going back and revisiting the album that inspired one of our earliest packs, to bring you “With the Beatles Revisited”. With the release of this pack, 5 more songs from “With the Beatles” joins The Beatles Rock Band library, bringing us up to 10 songs from that album in-game, along with making half of the main Beatles Discography playable!

Introducing – “With the Beatles Revisited”

Waiting for more songs to play in your copy of The Beatles Rock Band? Well, don’t worry, because “It Won’t Be Long” before you add this pack to your library!

    Chart Preview: https://streamable.com/8j9nnt

The opening track of the album, “It Won’t Be Long” immediately grabs the listener’s attention with the song prominently featuring the band’s trademark “yeah” established by She Loves You, along with the characteristic call and response harmonies between the band members, it’s no surprise that the song remains in listeners minds decades after the initial release. While the song never became a live staple of the band, the song immediately let listeners of With the Beatles know what to expect from the album, and proved that the success of Please Please Me and She Loves You was not a fluke.

Feeling sad and lonely? Well, you can always have some fun playing Little Child!

    Chart Preview: https://streamable.com/v0vrmt

Originally written for Ringo with a simple vocal medley in mind to better fit his range, Little Child ended up being recorded with   Paul and John performing vocals on the track and Ringo taking I Wanna Be Your Man instead. While the song proved to be a challenge to record, requiring over twenty takes. While the song itself did not receive a hugely positive reaction, it remains a standout track of the album, featuring a blues-inspired riff with a harmonica that’s sure to grab the listener’s attention.

Waiting for that delivery? Well wait no longer, because “Please Mister Postman” joins The Beatles Rock Band today!

    Chart Preview: https://streamable.com/9eet6m

Inspired by the band receiving fan mail mentioning to “please ask the postal office to deliver their mail faster”, the band started covering “Please Mister Postman” as part of their early live sets in 1962. Following this, the band decided to record a studio version of their cover for inclusion on their second album. Despite being a major part of their early live performances, the cover did take a while to successfully get on tape, needing nine takes before they got a version that they considered “perfect”. The song was very frequently revisited during the band’s career, with them performing it multiple times during the BBC Live sessions and even going on to star in a notable TV performance of the track in 1964.

As we reach the fourth song of the pack, we can’t just quit now, for “You Really Got A Hold On Me” is up next.

    Chart Preview: https://streamable.com/ysava1

The first song recorded during the “With the Beatles sessions, “You Really Got A Hold On Me” shows the band’s take on the 1962 track by Smokey Robinson and The Miracles. While the original song did not achieve much success in the band’s home country of the United Kingdom, the band became aware of the songs existence due to imported copies arriving from the United States, where the song was a major success. The band then began experimenting with their take on the song shortly after. The cover was revisited in 1969 during the Let It Be sessions, originally planned for inclusion as part of a medley for the album. While the plans for this medley was scrapped, the song did appear in the “Let It Be” documentary.

Closing out the pack, we have “Money (That’s What I Want)”

    Chart Preview: https://streamable.com/r4abyz

The band originally discovered “Money (That’s What I Want)” when browsing stock at Brian Epstein’s record store, at the time, Brian had a policy of ordering at least one copy of everything that was released, which lead to the band being able to discover many obscure singles which weren’t successful at the time. The band had started experimenting with the song afterwards, with even producing a cover as part of their Decca Audition. Later on, the band decided to revisit the song and use it as the closer on “With the Beatles”.

in reply to: (Nearly) Unlimited ‘game_origin’ categories for TU4 #514505

I use an RGH Xbox 360. With a unreleased XEX Patch *which should be releasing once more testing is done*, custom sources are entirely doable and shouldn’t cause any problems.

    I also use TU5 yes. I haven’t used TU4 in years.

in reply to: (Nearly) Unlimited ‘game_origin’ categories for TU4 #514280

Huh, missed this thread, but yes, sources are limited by strings, if the strings are in-game, they will work as a source.

This can be combined with creating your own strings in order to create completely custom sorting.

    xC9oN46.png

Right now there is a small limitation in that by default, the game sets all non “ugc_plus” venues to use a different venue standard to what customs use, this can be addressed with an executable hack on Xbox.

in reply to: How many songs in your RB3? #514073

I have multiple RB installs, so I can’t provide a set number.

I have 3 360 hard drives, currently divided into

    1. All RBN

    2. Mix of DLC/RBN and Exports for online play.

    3. Mix of everything (DLC/RBN/Exports/Customs) for playing locally with friends.

    2 PS3 installs (I use EU/US copies for this)

    1. US Disc: All officially released content for the game, 2909 songs on PS3.

    2. EU Disc: Customs for online play.

I also have RB4 on Xbox One with all songs, which I generally use for playing any official content, along with a PS4 that’s loaded with customs, that I use when playing custom songs alone.

in reply to: Xbox Rock Band Music Store Offline for RB3? #514072

PS3/360 Rock Band servers are currentl having issues. Harmonix are aware of the issue and working on it, but understandably, its a complex issue that seems to caused by a mix of random things such as account age, activity on past RB games and stuff, alongside also being more focused on Rock Band 4 issues so it’s taking a while to fix, in the meantime, you can search on the PS/Xbox store for the DLC you want and purchase it that way.

Just for clarity: The custom posted by Scott is not an official release by us, but was created by a member of our Discord community.

It’s pretty cool to see that we’re inspiring people to expand upon our work.

Welcome to another single release by The Beatles Rock Band Custom DLC Project. We would like to dedicate this release to TheSheepQueen, who is a long-time friend of the multiple members of the team. Sheep originally charted this song for Rock Band 3, and very generously allowed us to reuse her chart as a base for The Beatles Rock Band custom, Today is Sheep’s birthday, so make sure to send over a bunch of love in her direction and wish a happy birthday, along with checking out the original version released for Rock Band 3, which can be found linked below.

    Presenting – “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Bah”

    “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da Music Video”: https://streamable.com/0lvhlo

    Chart Preview: https://streamable.com/pcdxj9

Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da” was inspired by a saying Paul once heard from “Jimmy Scott”, a Nigerian conga player who he met in London, Jimmy had several phrases that he used in conversation, but one that stood out to Paul was “Ob la di, ob la da, life goes on brah”, which later became the basis for the chorus of the song. Drawing inspiration from the Jamaican Ska scene that was exploding in the UK at the time, Paul began writing the song during a trip to India in which the band intended to partake in a meditation course. The track generally received a lot of mixed reactions, with the recording sessions for the song becoming increasing heated, and the song receiving multiple nominations in “worst song ever lists”, despite this, many fans consider it to be a highlight of the band’s career due to it’s upbeat, colorful “fun” lyrics and ska-inspired instrumental

As a reminder, please make sure to send some love over to Sheep as this release would not have been possible without her, along with downloading her Rock Band 3 version, and from the team, happy birthday!

A few more things to close things out, first off, we’d like you all to welcome VMunroe to the team, who has joined us as an animator.

We have also issued an update for “Love You To” from our last release, so be sure to grab the new version of the song. The update can be found at http://dl.c3universe.com/5f297323af90e6.40314331

As always, our Discord can be found at https://discord.gg/XM9gexj, we’ve been growing a lot lately with no signs of slowing down, so make sure to head over there and join in with The Beatles Rock Band custom community to meet like-minded fans, along with following updates with the project and making new friends to play online with!

Thank you so much I was worried you not going to release them anymore

Unless we say we’re done, we’re working on something, like imac007 says, this is just a side hobby for us, so if we plan something big, or if our personal lives are super busy or something, things might take a little longer <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

    Yyi3EW7.png

Welcome to another release by The Beatles Rock Band Custom DLC Project. We have a very special release for you this time around, as not only does it represent the first album that we have completed in full, but it also marks over 100 songs playable in The Beatles Rock Band when including on-disk tracks and the previously released Harmonix DLC.

One addition to this pack you may notice is the availability of Rock Band 3 versions. While this will not be the case for every song, we have toyed around with the idea a few times, and decided that this would be the perfect time for them to make their debut. This not only grants people who lack the hardware required to play customs in The Beatles Rock Band with the chance to play the songs we’re releasing, but the releases will also feature full RB3 functionality, including variations on the note-charts to better match Rock Band 3 functionality, Pro Keyboard support and custom Rock Band 3 venues (with some even having a few more bonuses like Pro Guitar in some cases!)

    Introducing “Revolver”

    Album Trailer: https://streamable.com/sxafoq

We are kicking things off with a darker start as we hear the story of “Eleanor Rigby”.

    Chart Preview: https://streamable.com/aa24kj

If “Rain” marked the start of the Beatles transformation into a more experimental band, “Eleanor Rigby” solidified it. With its ear catching string quartet, and bleak lyrics covering subjects such as death, loneliness and depression, the song was far from what listeners expected from traditional Beatles songs, letting the listener know that they were about to experience a new phase of The Beatles.

    Chart Preview: https://streamable.com/afm77g

Written as a response to Paul frequently waking John up in the afternoon to work on new material, “I’m Only Sleeping” has a somewhat “dreamy” feel intended to make the listener feel drowsy, using techniques such as playing parts of the song backwards to give the song a lethargic feel.

Next, we’ll be leaving the traditional western music scene and dive into “Love You To”

    Chart Preview: https://streamable.com/67x04l

Love You To” shows us The Beatles first attempt at recording a full song in a more traditional Indian music style, which was very quickly becoming a growing major interest for George. Using instruments such as the Sitar and Tabla, if the previous songs didn’t let fans know they weren’t in for something vastly different from previous albums, they knew now.

Don’t get too lost though, as we very quickly find ourselves return to back to the western sound with “Here There and Everywhere”.

    Chart Preview: https://streamable.com/ugtit6

Written by Paul while waiting for John to wake up, the song quickly became a favorite of the band at the time, with Paul, John and George Martin all citing it as one of their favorite songs in the bands discography. Inspired by The Beach Boys, the track draws a heavy influence from “Pet Sounds” which at the time was experiencing a very mixed reaction to its release. Similar to Pet Sounds, the song received a mixed reaction from critics when released, with some claiming it to be the peak of “the bands love songs” and a new standard for music, while others feeling that the song was out of place on the album and seemed “dated”.

I didn’t quite catch that, what was that “She Said She Said?”

    Chart Preview: https://streamable.com/ekm5ec

“She Said, She Said” was conceived during an acid trip, when John heard actor Peter Fonda say “I know what it’s like to be dead”. The lyric “You’re making me feel like I’ve never been born” immediately came to John afterwards, and work began shortly after. Unusually for a Beatles song, Paul did not play on this track, likely due to an argument over the song during the recording process.

“Doctor Robert” chronicles the band’s experimentation with various drugs during the Revolver era, with the lyrics containing multiple references to drug culture at the time. While the existence of a “Real Doctor Robert” has never been confirmed by the band, many believe that the song is written in reference to an infamous New York doctor who gained a reputation with celebrities for providing drugs, while others believe it could be a reference to the band’s dentist, who allegedly introduced them to LSD.

Written by George, “I Want To Tell You” was inspired by his experimentations with LSD, and the thoughts he was experiencing when undergoing trips using the drug. Despite being the closing track of the album, “Tomorrow Never Knows” was the first song recorded for Revolver and set the tone that would go on to define the Revolver sound. The song draws heavy inspiration from “The Psychedelic Experience”, with most of the lyrics coming directly from the book. TBRB fans will be somewhat familiar with this track, as a remixed version from the LOVE album is available on disc, however, this release now marks the original version as playable in game.

We hope this pack was worth the wait! I would also like to take this chance to welcome Kandie and Kueller into the team. We’ve reached over 30 songs released since we announced this project at the end of last year, and we don’t intend to stop anytime soon.

As always, to follow development on future content, interact with others playing TBRB and receive support with playing TBRB Customs, along with accessing the PS3 versions, we highly recommend joining the Discord that we set up for the project, so if you want some fun, join over at https://discord.gg/XM9gexj.

There’s a way to fix it.

It’s possible, but it’s a lot of effort and it’s really not worth the hassle imo.

Here’s a video of me playing an online custom song on Xbox 360.

If you wanna play online, just buy a PS3.
