SgoastMemberWhen I was a kid, I just could not listen to November Rain. The video freaked me out so badly (“MAN THEY CUT THAT LADY IN THE COFFIN IN HALF.”) that I couldn’t even handle hearing the song afterwards. If I couldn’t turn it off, I would cover my ears for at least the last half of the song which was apparently the most frightening part to me. Little me was weird.
Uh, good week.

SgoastMemberNo kidding, I was thinking of offering to record crowd vocals with some friends so I could feel like I was contributing something. I may not be musically talented, but shit if I can’t howl like a drunken moron.

SgoastMemberMan. I don’t know a word of Japanese, but I just got reminded about how fabulous Sambomaster is.
Sekai wa Sore o Ai to Yobun da ze
Some other Japanese language tracks that would be rad since that’s the theme and all.
(Sounds really fun for everyone, plus I love this video.)
(Apparently this was going to be in the fabled “Rock Band Japan”. Very Clash-esque if you’re not familiar.)
(Holy shit. These guys have some of the funnest concerts I’ve ever been to.)

SgoastMemberI did not realize that Fred Armisen ended up recording complete versions of all the Ian Rubbish & The Bizarros songs from the two SNL sketches he did with the character. They’re all fantastic in their own ways, but “Maggie Thatcher” and “It’s A Lovely Day” really oughtta make it onto somebody’s list.

SgoastMemberI had been tempted to make a Daft Punk thread but that repetition issue came up. That’s a really great solution to it. Another idea I was thinking of is maybe pulling from some of the sources they’ve sampled over time. Along with tapping that hilarious “Where do I remember this from?” feeling in people who don’t know the context, it would also lead to some of the more lesser represented genres making appearances.
was turned into Digital Love
was turned into
was turned into
was turned into
(Which would be a pretty great song to release on it’s own.)
was turned into
was turned into Music Sounds Better With You (Okay, technically this was only from one of the guys from Daft Punk, but it’s practically a Daft Punk song so whatever.)
The new album doesn’t have as many samples on it as their previous albums which would make it easier to just pick something directly from it. I’m frankly kind of shocked
hasn’t been made by someone yet considering all the hype leading up to the new album.

SgoastMemberGreat week. Just a heads up though, a little curiosity lead me to finding out that the Rob Simonsen track is actually titled “Blue” according to wikipedia and his facebook.

SgoastMemberI love theme weeks. I really really love theme weeks. Probably my favorite early harmonix thing was theme packs. Keep doing this, please.

SgoastMemberI did what you asked. I think. You didn’t make yourself very clear.

SgoastMemberBut I am fueled by other’s regret.

SgoastMemberFrank Zappa has a limitless amount of material to choose from. I think he falls into that category that Grateful Dead fell into that everyone’s heard of him but hardly heard anything by him. You’ve got some really good picks there. I’d probably include My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama or Dancin’ Fool myself.

SgoastMemberI really don’t have anything to add to this.

SgoastMemberNobody has mentioned The Weakerthans in this thread yet, so I guess I’ll have to
” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” /> . Off the top of my head, some (indie rock) songs that would be awesome to have in RB:
The Weakerthans:
– a bit lower key, but still an awesome song (with amazing lyrics)
And one from their lead singer’s solo album, simple but the lyrics are quite fun:
John K. Samson –
Fantastic idea, but I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for
. But while we’re on the subject of John Sampson, may I suggest Propagandhi?
…and in case you though this post wasn’t Canadian enough,

SgoastMemberI remember those two tracks. Think I playtested them at one point. Still super disappointed they never got anywhere.

SgoastMemberUm, excuse me? The first request forum thread was my ska thread, thankyouverymuch.

SgoastMemberI kind of like being able to make your case for the inclusion of something. Besides, the last thing the authors need is someone feeling like they’re entitled to the entire Muse discography because they registered enough accounts to make it number one. They’re doing this because they enjoy the music, not because there’s a business case for it.
