So I actually did some testing:

Alphanumeric song ids DO work! And online too! I tried it with Nuclear by Mike Oldfield and This Night of Ours by Pinkie Guy, so if you want to see for yourself, check those files, you can check the structure of the file in the Con tools as usual, and you can see that I used the original song ids used in the RB3 customs. I think they weren’t working for gigakoops due to the other thing he forgot that makes multiple work together. And they definitely work online. I just played both of them with a friend.

Also I edited the OP with a smoother tutorial on converting, this one include how to get sections. They’re gotten in virtually the same way you get custom sections in RB3 if anyone’s wondering btw.

Can you send them to me? I’ll look at them

Yeah from the sounds of things, the game treats all letter ids as though they’re the same. Try to avoid using them in the future.

I don’t know, I tested it recently and letters in the id should work…although i never tested multiple at the same time though. That might be an issue…

    So I have a question.

I worked late last night on RB2 ports for “Oh My…/Death by Glamour” and “Your Best Nightmare/Finale” from the Undertale soundtrack. I got Death by Glamour to work flawlessly, but when it came to Your Best Nightmare, it just wouldn’t load for the life of me. After fruitlessly rebuilding the con file, I decided to see if it at least loaded in RB3, and found that it actually did… but Death by Glamour didn’t. So I decided to delete Death by Glamour and reload RB2, and lo and behold, Your Best Nightmare showed up. But the weird thing is, it showed that I had already played it, and got the score I got on Death by Glamour. So I’m left to conclude that the game thinks they’re both the same song.

Is there any way to remedy this, by any chance? Both ports seem to work quite well, but I don’t want to release them, have people download both, and run into the same problems I am. I’ve tried changing the song ID to Your Best Nightmare quite a few times, though it’s never worked.

Only thing I can say is try reloading the song cache, same way you do for rb3 but in rb2 obviously

A couple of questions, if I may.

    1) Storm360, care to share how to get album art to load? I’ve tried everything I can think of, but to no avail.

    2) It’s mentioned in the comments in that video linked in the OP that there’s a workaround for the one custom limit. Any pointers as to how to do that?

Check the OP, I updated with a link on how to convert which includes making them compatible for multiple at once as well as album art, courtesy of Meta123. Just start at the magma building part for the whole compatibility part.

(The Album art is just the _keep.png_xbox file in the gen folder btw)

Alright, I told rocker to remove it from the sheet. Should be gone relatively soon (I’m not able to do it myself quite yet).

I don’t know why Rocker decided to do it. I was talking with him WHILE he did it too. I was just talking and he kept saying “Why am I doing this.” I always had the same response.

    “I have no idea.”

So for anyone interested, here’s a link to a spreadsheet that contains all the songs we’ve already converted, as well as a sheet with requests on it. There is a form at the top of the main sheet the will take you to the form that will allow you to make a suggestion. Please, check before making a suggestions if it’s already there.

I’ve heard about this, and have been interested in trying to convert some of my own songs to work on RB2. The main issue for me is that I was never an RBN author during the RBN1/RBN1.5 days, so I’m not too well versed with how everything worked back then. Not to mention having to rewrite the venue track and such to match RBN1’s format, which for me would be a nightmare due to using a lot of effects not present in RB2.

I’m not really that worried about how venues work. I never really pay attention to the background. But if you do figure something out, feel free to spread the word!

Someone needs to start converting all C3 songs and add them to the database or a seperate one. The ability to play any custom in a full band with friends is astonishing and a remarkable achievement to say the least. The whole converting phase will be a daunting task for some though.

We’ve actually started on customs conversions and have about 20 done. Some are from Legacy C3 but majority of the others are from the current customs database.

The main issue is it’s very time consuming to convert them (more than like not as much as making them originally obviously, but it’s an annoying process to say the least.

The rbntools reaper install thingy actually includes the rbn1 reaper template.

Although technically you don’t need any template to do it. You can do it all just importing the midi directly into REAPER (how I usually do it).

I wanted to make a request for one of the features, namely the batch renamer and some things for Phase Shift end of it.

Would it be possible to make it so that it could sort song folders by artist or song name like with the normal renamer? Some people like to have their songs sorted by artist instead of another way, and the tools seem like they could have this functionality. Could this be an addition in the near future?

So I just tried using the drums autoreductions, and I’m confused as to what happening.

What happens is, I’ll open CAT, click autoreductions (drums), and hit reduce (sometimes with changing some options but it does it either way), then all the boxes become unchecked, nothing happens in the midi, and if I redo the settings and hit reduce again, nothing happens. What’s going on?

I was using the template in case that might be a problem.

Could you give Froogle Hero III some love pls? I’d like to see anything (or everything ) from over there converted if you could do that.
