Awesome seeing some genesis in RB finally, and plans on doing more 70’s genesis tracks?

Those look monstrous. I have an Onkyo mid-range system, it’s nice for the price range but the sub is completely non-functional right now which kinda sucks. Thankfully the rest of the speakers have a good bass presence on their own.

Interested in seeing how it turns out, looks like it’s something that Brent mostly worked on himself and has a lot of personal investment in.

You could do it like any other 16th note disco pattern, but with alternating blue and yellow cymbals.

In the song I’m charting, the drummer plays a disco-like beat using a tom instead of the hi-hat, and I want to reflect this as RRRRYRRR … etc. To get a better understanding of my situation, a similar scenario happens in the RB4 DLC “Pompeii” by Bastille: https://youtu.be/Q_KdYTY1Lms?t=63

Obviously, I could just chart it as such and add tom markers for yellow, but this doesn’t weight yellow as a snare, which is what I want. In a sense, I’m trying to mimic what disco-flip would do on regular drums. I previously thought the “noflip” events were what I’m looking for, but the RBN preview in Reaper doesn’t reflect that.

I’m not too sure what the issue is, or what you mean by weighted. If you’re charting this pattern with pro drums in mind, doing exactly as you described (minus the noflip) is what you want.

    .

I have “RBN Blank Template,” “RBN2 Template,” and “RBNTemplate.” I have no idea which one I’ve used for my projects.

Sounds like you’re missing the C3 template which can save you headaches in the future, it’s a part of this package of files (should be instructions in there too)

Did you turn up the audio quality setting in magma? This will increase file size quite a bit if you turn it up too much.

That reminded me that I really need to pick up one of those, and ASAP. I’m getting an e-kit soon and I feel like the prices on those things are only going to go up with Mad Catz going down. Is ebay my best bet?

Agreed that it’s their best since Crack the Skye, and there’s some strong tracks for sure, but as an old school Mastodon fan I’m honestly never going to be satisfied with their new watered down sound and they’ve done nothing to alleviate that with this album.

Should look something like this, for reference. Make sure your drum track wasn’t muted before you exported the MIDI track too, as this will completely omit it from the combined MIDI. If you didn’t intend to have drums in your song, both mute it before exporting and uncheck the track in Magma.

It’s definitely a shame. Mad Catz had a rough reputation early on in their lifespan as a peripheral hardware company, but they really started getting their shit together during the 360/PS3 gen, especially with Rock Band and their arcade stick peripherals. I’ve still got my Street Fighter x Tekken fightstick in perfect condition, that thing is built like a tank.

If you’ve gotten to the point where this window pops up, and whatever function you’re trying isn’t working, make sure you’ve properly adjusted your music_start and music_end events in the EVENTS track. Some features won’t work if you have invalid MIDI notes as well, but you also should be using the C3 Reaper template for charting in order to use this since they’re designed to work together.

I do believe they would still be standing if they had lower expectations for Rock Band 4, coming back after 7 years without major rhythm games outside of Project Diva was a tough challenge, and it didn’t prove successful for both Rock Band and Guitar Hero. The genre is not dead, just smaller. They sold well for Rock Band 3 because the game arrived during the 2007-2010 golden age of rhythm games. As to why music games don’t really interest people outside of Just Dance anymore is still over me…

It was a huge fad, but now people have seen it done before. Rock Band 4 and GH Live brought nothing notable to the table (both cut features rather than include new ones) and thus mass appeal was lost. Imagine if Nintendo tried to copy the Wii’s motion control gimmick in 2017 for the Switch and did absolutely nothing else with it other than that, nobody’s going to care if you don’t innovate.
