C3 TRACK 01 MIXTAPE ’26

Greetings! This mixtape is focused on songs that are the first track on their respective albums. No singles or EP’s – we took a look at our favourite openers and are very happy to present this new pack.

“Reel Around the Fountain” by The Smiths authored by yaniv297 ( Download Link )
Yaniv297 writes “So back in the day, we at AIRHeads did a pretty big Smiths project – but this is one song I loved that we’ve never got around to. So this mixtape – being the first song on the Smiths first album – was a great chance for that, “Reel Around the Fountain” is a slow-burning piece, with arpeggio guitar and wonderful piano, that sits in stark contrast to the punchier singles surrounding it in their catalog. It was actually one of the earliest Smiths compositions, previewed on a John Peel session in 1983 before the album came out, and it still stands out as somewhat of an outlier in the Smiths catalog. The song attracted controversy when the BBC initially refused to play it over concems about the lyrical content, which Morrissey dismissed as absurd misreadings. It’s a great Smiths ballad and one of their classic tunes, and I’m glad to finally have it in game.”
“Rappiolla” by Hassisen kone authored by VeeKiraRay ( Download Link )
VeeKiraRay writes “The ironic lyrics of the song caused some reporters to start complaining about indecency in rock songs. Fun fact Metallica (Robert & Kirk) have made a cover of this song in a live show back in 2018.”
“Kaasua, komisaario Peppone” by Popeda authored by VeeKiraRay ( Download Link )
VeeKiraRay writes “The song remains one of Popeda‘s most recognized hits and a frequently played classic in Finnish radio and karaoke, representing the band’s shift to a more melodic, hard rock sound in the 1980s.”
“Self-Starter” by Anberlin authored by TomGuy ( Download Link )
“The E-Street Shuffle” by Bruce Springsteen authored by yaniv297 and AJFOne23 ( Download Link )
Yaniv297 writes “Glad to present this very requested song! “The E Street Shuffle” opens Springsteen’s second album The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle and immediately announces a completely different world from what you might know from Bruce. Loose, joyful, deeply rooted in soul and R&B, with a colorful cast of characters dancing and hanging on the street corner in a kind of mythologized Asbury Park. Every single instrument has an interesting part in here – from the great drum groove (authored by the retired AJFOne23. I just sat on this drum chart for a really long time), the funky bass, the guitar solos and the epic horn arrangement – all make up this great Jersey Shore funk. It’s the song that essentially named the band and defined their identity – and it’s finally here in your library. Enjoy!”
“D.’s Car Jam/Anxious Mo-Fo” by Minutemen authored by regularjphn ( Download Link )
Regularjphn writes “Serious as a heart attack!”

“Hablemos Del Campo” by José Madero authored by Marcos ( Download Link )
“Red Alert (Boss Metal Zone)” by Clutch authored by IaSg14 and MrPrezident ( Download Link )
“Dumbest Girl Alive” by 100 gecs authored by TheOreo ( Download Link )
TheOreo writes “You too can finally feel like the dumbest girl alive by singing along to the opener from 100 gecs‘ 2023 album ‘10000 gecs‘.”
We hope you enjoy all the new music, presented by the authors of the C3 Community! Until next time!
