A red X denotes Pro Guitar/Pro Bass, a blue M denotes full multitracks, and a blue K denotes a “karaoke” multitrack (separated vocals).

While Harmonix is a Boston-based company, they always made an effort to incorporate foreign music into Rock Band. Never let it be said that C3 is America-centric! A ton of our authors are overseas — well, everywhere is overseas from somewhere, but you get the idea — and today we recognize St. Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland. Officially St. Andrew’s Day is tomorrow, but no true Scotsman would let that get him down! Join us in celebrating Scottish music with these seven tracks. They cover many decades and genres, but they’re all Scottish to their very core. Also, uh…sheep. Sheep joke.
First, RyanHYK gives us an injection of ’90s one-hit-wonder action. Del Amitri’s “Roll to Me” (also known as “Look around your world, pretty baby”) is a staple of any list of ’90s pop-rock anthems. Is this song everything you hoped it’d be?
Eurythmics is best known in the US for “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)”, which we released earlier this month, but farottone says that “When Tomorrow Comes” is a big hit abroad. If you haven’t heard it before, odds are good that you’ll enjoy its catchy ’80s pop-rock hooks.
Whether or not you’re on a road trip in How I Met Your Mother, there’s no denying the power of The Proclaimers’ “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)”. If you’ve never heard this song, DVDSmith and drummerockband are putting you on the Evil Alien Robot Invader suspect list. If you’re not havering for this song yet, just wait. It’ll come around after the next ten or twenty listens.
Rod Stewart is a frequently-requested Rock Band artist. farottone introduced him to our library with “In a Broken Dream”, but that wasn’t officially a Rod Stewart song, and now he’s back with “Every Beat of My Heart”! This epic ballad brings it down a few notches from the last few songs; look passionately into the camera and give us your best tortured ’80s performance.
Keeping with our strong ’80s theme, DVDSmith has authored “Don’t You (Forget About Me)”, one of the ’80s-est songs in the entire world. Are you sporto, a motorhead, a geek, a slut, a blood, a wastoid, a dweebie, or a dickhead? All of you can learn something valuable from each other in detention…and from this song. It’s a banner fuckin’ year for C3! Now smoke up, Johnny!
Nyxyxylyth adds yet another high-profile song to the pack — “Stuck in the Middle with You”. This early ’70s hit is half Beatles, half Steve Miller Band, and 100% classic rock goodness. This song features Pro G/B courtesy of columbo777, and is another one of those “wait, you seriously haven’t heard this before?” tunes. Also, its album art will induce nightmares. Holy shit.
We bid adieu to Scotland with one more song from farottone. Wet Wet Wet’s “Love is All Around” is a cover of a ’60s song that may itself be a cover of a ’50s song, AND it was covered by R.E.M., AND a fake Christmas parody appears in Love Actually! This song gets around, man. The holidays are a perfect time to serenade your significant other, and this song is the perfect one for the job. If you don’t have a significant other, get someone to watch Love Actually with you. Instant emotional bond. You can have that one for free, kids.
The Rock Band Harmonies Project‘s No Doubt November continues with the Tragic Kingdom B-sides, along with the last six RB2 bonus songs, David Bowie, and “Action”! Contributors this week include espher, GreenPanda12, and pksage. Check the end of this blog post for the full song list, and download them at the Rock Band Harmonies Project site.
Which amazing Scottish bands did we miss? Should I have made more Scotty-from-Star-Trek jokes? Well, you can’t do anything about the latter, but you can always author your favorite songs yourself!
See you next Friday!

  1. oh and pksage, it would have been bonus points if you had quoted Steven Wright ala Reservoir Dogs in your “Stuck in the Middle” paragraph: “Joe Egan and Gerry Rafferty were a duo known as Stealers Wheel when they recorded this Dylanesque pop bubblegum favorite from April of 1974”.
