Songs that generally stay in the same meter off the top of my head include:

“Beyond This Life” by Dream Theater (5/4)

“Galaxies in Harmony” by Jarod Fedele (7/8) [my own song]

    “Spark” by Hiromi (9/16)

“Celestial Terrestrial Commuters” by Mahavishnu Orchestra (19/16)

Many of the legacy C3 releases had 2x versions that were lost in the fog of the database conversion. I assume you’ve PMed Farottone about these? He was an author on both albums, and mazegeek999 was an author on Awake, so he probably has the 2x versions of those.

I did keys for Awake, definitely talk to farottone as he built the files I believe.

I hadn’t seen this before but your wall of guitars looks awesome.

I’ve heard many examples of music where, for example, there’s a section in 7/4 and then they end with an extra beat making the last measure of the section 8/4, but in all the sheet music and tabs I’ve seen, people write it out as two measures of 4/4, even though it breaks the flow of having X amount of measures per phrase. In my view I would either notate the part out as 4/4+3/4 (or however the 7/4 feels it’s subdivided) and then 4/4+4/4; or, 7/4 and then use the 8/4 at the end.

As far as consistent 8/4 measures I don’t really see it happen, but there is a strange thing with “extended” duple meters in rock music that people never seem to use. Stuff like 8/8 and 2/2 are both very useful when noting how the pulse feels. A lot of times people will just double or halve the tempo at that point in the song where it feels like the song is twice as fast, where depending on the situation it may be a better alternative to express the tempo the same but give a different note value the pulse.

I guess that second point is more applicable to Rock Band since changing the tempo does affect the animations, overdrive deployment, and really how the chart looks.

I agree with SynthStreaks’ reasoning for Magic Man, also the fact that the author denied his chart was flawed after a lot of constructive criticism. Four note chords on guitar? That’s just a “charting style.” Come on bro.

But yeah I mean why have the option to give 1-star ratings if it’s frowned upon to use them? They should be used when a chart is so poorly done that it just feels wrong the entire time. It’s unfortunate because I’m sure the charters put many hours of work into their customs (believe me I would know), but you also gotta give criticism where its due. Of course, a comment would be very helpful (and frankly should be required) to accompany any 1-star rating.

Glad to hear you guys are enjoying the releases yesterday. Here’s another song for you guys, especially the keyboardists…

This is my first original composition, “The Journey.” It has a prog rock ballad feel to it, with a lengthy build up in the middle. I highly recommend giving this a try for keyboardists. Drums is also fun on this song.

Wow, it has been a LONG time since I’ve updated this thread. I apologize, and I plan to seriously start uploading some non-full band customs. Starting with these…

For once I chart a song without impossible keys… haha. I just really wanted to do this one because of the super sweet drum solo and the guitar/keys tradeoffs in the last few minutes. Really awesome song. Note that this is the FULL song, though other versions on the database are cut-down versions. If anyone would like to do vocals, please let me know!

I charted this song over a year ago for guitar, drums, and keys. All instruments are extremely fun. Guitar is ironically the easiest of the bunch, with a bunch of improvised fills and solos but nothing insane. Then you have drums which progresses from fairly simple to a drum solo more difficult than any other drum solo released as official DLC/RBN. Keys is similar to guitar and is the main reason I charted this song; so many fun fills and a cool organ solo to top it off. Bass and vocal contributions are welcome.

Now for 2 fully completed full band songs…

I had charted this song back in August of 2014. I wish I could remember which episode I pulled this from. Very tricky on keys. Thanks to MiltoniusPrime for contributing vocals as well. Due to the theme song being improvised every episode, I had to choose which episode to chart. I chose this one.

I’ve always wanted to chart this song. So many fun parts on all instruments, and it’s one of my favorites from Dream Theater. Thanks to Onyxite for charting vocals and for reviewing the other instruments’ charts in general.

Speaking of Onyxite, he and I just finished charting a new full Dream Theater album, Systematic Chaos! If you missed his thread, be sure to check it out here.

Lastly, I have my own original song charted which should be uploaded tomorrow.

in reply to: 2x Bass Pedal Issue #467426

Thanks guys, seems the issue for this later custom was not checking the 2x bass pedal icon, I thought that was implied when compiling both MIDIs. However I’ll have to see tomorrow about my other custom in which I’m pretty sure I had that checked.

in reply to: 2x Bass Pedal Issue #467418

Just did. I tried compiling a different song I’m about to release, on a different computer too. Same issue.

in reply to: 2x Bass Pedal Issue #467406

    Both.

in reply to: 2x Bass Pedal Issue #467376

Well, I decided I had no choice except to compile as two separate MIDIs. So I did so, changing the song title manually to “(2x Bass Pedal).” Although when I attempt to do that, Magma forces me to check the 2x icon instead, which is fine. However, I compile and STILL no “(2x Bass Pedal)” showing up as the title of the song. I have no idea why this is all of a sudden a problem. If anyone knows why please help.

in reply to: 2x Bass Pedal Issue #467295

I can’t imagine what could be the issue as long as your using the newest version of C3 roks Magma and the track name has “_2x” in it.

Both of those things are the case.

in reply to: Anyone have a youtube channel with FC videos of customs? #466817

Yep, I have custom videos on pro keys here.

in reply to: Bat out of Hell – Meatloaf #466691

Congrats on the release. I have a lot of charting that I’m doing but I wouldn’t mind doing pro keys for Bat Out of Hell in the future if still needed.

in reply to: Roundabout Keys #466530

The choruses are pretty essential for the 5 star, as that’s where most of the activations are. It would also be good to save a full bar of overdrive for the guitar break section – even if you can’t combo it, it’d still probably get you more points than the sustains in the bridge.
