Hello all! Due to a scheduling conflict, this next release is coming at you 15 minutes early! Welcome to my sole Chart-a-thon release! I give to you three songs that are vaguely connected in some way… They all could be loosely defined as pop punk I suppose? Though I wouldn’t define them all as such. Uhhh. Well all of the artists are friends with each other and have toured with one another! That works? Ya know what, it doesn’t really matter what connects the songs, just enjoy!

Antarctigo Vespucci is a collaboration between Chris Farren (formerly of Fake Problems, a band with a few RBN songs) and Jeff Rosenstock (of Bomb the Music Industry! and The Arrogant Sons of Bitches, as well as my favorite solo artist). They rule. My first exposure to this band came when Chris Farren opened for Jeff the very first time I saw him in concert. They each had their own separate sets, but for the final encore of the night, both Chris and Jeff took the stage and performed this very track! It’s since become their definitive song for me and I think it serves as a perfect introduction to the band. I’m honored to have been the one to chart their C3X debut!

I didn’t come to find out about Modern Baseball until after their breakup. It’s a shame, considering they’ve become one of my favorite bands. With how popular they seem to be, I’m honestly surprised it took this long for someone to chart one of their songs! This is the first track on their debut album, Sports. When I first discovered them, this album really blew me away. For some reason, it took me a while to branch out to their other records. They only released 3 full-length albums, but they’re all solid and I look forward to charting more tracks of theirs in the future. I’ve had this one in particular in my back pocket for a while. Possibly before I even listened to their other records! I think it’s a decent starting point for the band, but I wouldn’t say it’s a perfect representation of their sound as a whole. But as I mentioned, more to come!

The only track for this release that isn’t a C3X artist debut (shout out to Chainsaw Octopus!). This one feels like it was a long time coming. The OTHER big song from PUP‘s 2016 album The Dream is Over, this song’s music video famously starred Finn Wolfhard of “Stranger Things” fame. It’ll also make you cry! I originally teetered back and forth between this one and “Kids” from their most recent album since that song had been performed on Late Night TV shows and such, but the drums for that one were so hard to decipher that I kind of gave up on it for now. Might release it in the future though! But for now please enjoy this wonderful song about a dying dog!

Up next: grubextrapolate and friends bring you something heavily influenced by hallucinogenic drug use! Sounds fun!

I’m really proud of what this community has accomplished so far with C3X. Everyone has been putting in so much effort into their work, and it really shows. Like Fuji, this year has been a personal triumph when it comes to my custom chart output. I’ve already released a good amount more than last year and 2019 is far from over! I hope everyone is satisfied with what I’ve put out so far, and you can count on more before the year’s end!

The album art difference for the Americana songs is bothering me haha. I don’t remember how I got my version since I made the Magma file a while ago, but I know I wouldn’t use such a low quality art for no reason. I’ll have to confirm later whether it matches official DLC because I swear I always make an effort to do that. Oh and great job everyone! Quality release!

Thanks it means a lot! Handfulls of people have downloaded most of the songs in the pack, but I don’t know how many people were already fans or if they just gave it a shot. Regardless I mostly chart for myself, so any lack of interest in one of my releases doesn’t bother me much. But It’s nice to hear other people being excited about my efforts!

Hey again! This was actually the first time I had a significant enough release to make the thread, so I was a little nervous about it. But looking over how previous threads have been formatted helped a lot (I based mine heavily on Yaniv’s posts, so thanks again to him).

This is by far the most involved I’ve ever been with a C3X release, not just coming up with the Venue and event, but also releasing the most songs I ever have in a single week. I had always been a fan of the old “Greatest Hits: Rock Band Edition” 12-packs Harmonix would occasionally release back in the day, so this pack was inspired by those. I plan to make more 12-packs of my favorite artists down the line, but they’re going to have to be pretty spread out. Working on 12 songs at once requires a lot of dedication, motivation, and most importantly: time. But that’s why I decided to make my first pack Jeff Rosenstock!

He’s easily my favorite artist (I have a 42″x42″ version of that flag hanging in my room haha). He’s been in a ton of bands, most importantly Bomb the Music Industry! Despite his songs often seeming cynical, he’s a super positive dude. Ever since the formation of BtMI!, he’s been a huge proponent of the DIY ethic. He started his own record label where he releases all of his music, as well as many other great bands’, online for free. He books all of his headlining gigs himself, keeping the price affordable and making sure it’s available to all ages. Aside from touring all the time (hoping he makes it to the midwest soon!), he also composes music for the Cartoon Network show “Craig of the Creek”. He keeps himself busy!

I had hoped to have previews available for all my songs, but I wasn’t able to finalize the songs until nearly the last minute. I’ll see about maybe getting some made sometime soon. I know it’s hard to justify downloading something you’re not already a fan of, but hey it’s all free!

I highly recommend listening to the studio versions of the songs I posted, but if you want a good introduction to Jeff, check out this video of his actual Pitchfork set from 2017! It’s hilarious, and his backup band, “Death Rosenstock”, are all super talented.

So once again, I’ve let the new releases pile up since my last update to the thread. But hey, no one’s posting here anyway, so I don’t think it matters too much that I’ve been slacking haha. I imagine most people will already know about these releases from the database or the C3X threads, but if for some unlikely reason this is how you come to find out about these tracks, that’s fine too! The more exposure, the better!

                  New (Old) Releases:

                  AEbJkYZ.jpg

Back in middle school, I was still trying to figure out what type of kid I wanted to be (I eventually settled on the artsy type). But in the meantime, I would just copy whatever my older brother was doing at the time. He was a theater kid, so I decided to be one as well. During this time, we would also go to our local library and rent CDs to burn onto our desktop computer. Mainly these consisted of comedy CDs and They Might Be Giants albums, but Broadway musical soundtracks weren’t uncommon. This also happened to be around the time Rent was making a resurgence in relevance, with the movie due to be coming out soon. So naturally we eventually wound up ~rent~ing it. It was by far my favorite of the Broadway stuff I had heard. To this day I haven’t heard a Broadway soundtrack more in-line with my music tastes, even though my music tastes have evolved over the years. And if I had to pick a single favorite track from Rent, it would be this one.

Even putting aside the fact that this is from a Broadway musical, this is just a good song. Mainly a duet, it switches off between a rockin’ alternative number and a piano ballad, finally culminating in the grand finale where both singers are joined by the rest of the cast. Like most Broadway tunes, the vocals are definitely a highlight, but honestly it’s gonna be a tough choice deciding which instrument to play. Every instrument keeps it interesting for most of the song. Guitar, bass, and drums have the occasional break during the piano-focused portions, but it doesn’t take long for them to get back into the action. Keys are clearly the most consistent, however. No matter what instrument you decide on, I do hope you have a good time!

This custom was made possible with the help of the Broadway Rock Band mastermind and talented keys-and-vocals charter, Emotional Flight! I may have tempo-mapped the song and charted the core instruments, but as you can see from the tiers, the bulkiest instruments were done by Mr. Flight. And from what I understand, he did most of the other songs in the pack all by himself! He deserves a standing ovation!

                  New (New) Releases:

                  ORltXoD.jpg

Alongside Yaniv’s release of Blur’s “Beetlebum”, these songs make up “C3X: The Studio Sessions”! While originally a larger pack, these songs are supposed to be the (Original Version)s of songs released by Harmonix that were either live, re-records, or covers.

So the original version of this song, officially released by Harmonix, was the live version from Old 97s’ album “Alive & Wired”. While musically that version of the song is still solid, if a little sloppy, the vocals are extremely choppy. It happened to be the last song on a 30-song set, so I’ll give them a pass on that one for not being 100%. But it did always disappoint me that I could never sing along properly to the song, so I took it unto myself to author the original version.

The guitar is pretty fun, but decently difficult. Bass is fairly simple, but also varied enough to stay interesting throughout. Drums keep a fast steady snare beat, with the accents charted to the yellow pad. When Harmonix charted the live version, they exclusively charted the accented hits, but I opted for the more difficult option, hence the devil-tier rating. It won’t fail an experienced drummer, but it’s not uncommon to break your streak. I’m usually a drummer myself, but I’d probably rather sing this one instead, considering the vocals were originally my motivation for charting the song in the first place. So yeah, vocals are fun. It’s a fun song! Enjoy!

Today is Australia Day apparently! When I heard about the date dedicated to Australian bands/artists, it ended up being a perfect fit for me. I had, at the time, recently downloaded the album “More Scared of You than You Are of Me” by The Smith Street Band after having learned about them through their relationship with my favorite artist, Jeff Rosenstock, who produced the album. The band is almost aggressively Australian. The first song I heard by them, also the first song on the album, immediately caught my interest. I had it on repeat for like a week straight! Anyway this is the song. Happy Australia Day!

Every instrument is fun, in my opinion. The guitar has a neat little solo! The bass is super varied! The drums are blah blah blah fun! Luckily MrPrezident was kind enough to provide a

so you can see for yourself! Enjoy the song!

FYI, the release will be made on Saturday. There’s a reason for that.

And good thing too. Seems like they’ll need the extra time haha.

A huge congratulations and thanks to Septekka and Yaniv for being superstar authors! I hope everyone who doesn’t author realizes just how much time and effort each individual song takes. These guys have sacrificed hours and hours of their time to put out these songs, so I hope you guys appreciate it!

Oh, also, I did a song too. But I average like a song a month, so it’s less impressive. But I hope you enjoy it as well!

I was actually going to do the Hot Fuss version which is the original recording of the song; it was re-recorded for Sawdust. If you want to do the Sawdust version, it won’t technically conflict with mine (though I don’t know how many people would want to download the same song twice). But nevertheless I still intend to eventually chart the song myself. Maybe when the time comes, I can get some resources from your version?

So I’ve had a few releases since my last update to this thread, so I might as well tell you about them! Please note that mostly all of my future releases will be a part of C3X, so they will likely revolve around a general theme.

                            New (Old) Releases:

                            agBBW4G.jpg

I had originally intended to release this song much sooner after news of his death last year, but already had so many works-in-progress to start a new project, especially one as daunting as this one. This is one of rock’s greatest classics in my opinion, and I wanted to do it right before releasing it to the public.

So I just pretty much completely did my own charts for every instrument without consulting the Guitar Hero charts much. I did, however, study the vocal chart because that’s still the instrument I’m most uncomfortable charting (harmonies are still up in the air shhhh). Everything else I hope you all enjoy! Drums are pretty basic, bass is varied enough to be interesting if not super difficult, and guitar is a goddamn monster. Inexperienced players are likely to fail just at the end which is super annoying, yes, but it’s still fairly accurate.

Unfortunately a keys chart was not included due to using the assets from Guitar Hero. The stem that included the keys part also included other miscellaneous instruments, so I just wasn’t sure how to go about charting it. Maybe in the future it can be updated with a keys stem.

                            R.I.P. Tom Petty.

                            Hm1be0z.jpg

When I first made my list of suggested songs for the project, I just knew this one would be picked. It’s a great song I was surprised hadn’t been done yet. And compared to most of my other songs, it’s pretty simple. Little did I know the time signature would make the animations look completely awkward! Luckily, after some fiddling, I was finally able to fix the problem.

Guitar is mostly just the same 4 chords, but at least there’s a tiny bit of variety for the bridge. Bass is fairly interesting for such a slow song. Drums were super hard to decipher, but the results are actually kinda fun, if maybe not 100% accurate (I tried, I really did!). And in a surprising twist, this one includes the horns charted as keys! As someone who doesn’t own a keyboard to test it, I really hope it turned out fine! But hey, it got through Magma at least! Anyway, enjoy!

                            v8OFgWJ.jpg

Like Aeroplane, I suspected this song might be picked for the project, especially considering Banshee’s involvement. This is probably their most popular song that hadn’t been charted yet so I’m happy to be the one to bring it to y’all!

Released on their self-titled first album, this song is from the era when they still used a drum machine. So the drum track is a little difficult since it’s basically trying to emulate a computer. The guitar is actually pretty interesting, though mostly chords. Bass is nothing special, especially during the verses when it gets pretty boring. I think vocals are actually the star of the show in this one. There are no complicated harmonies or anything like that, it’s just a fun song to sing. The lyrics are so delightfully weird, I love it. I ALMOST didn’t include a keys chart because I was having trouble finding resources for it. But I was able to utilize a MIDI I found online which really helped. Hope it worked out properly. And hope you all enjoy!

                            sXbQgjL.jpg

So I am pretty proud of myself for this one. This is the longest song I’ve authored by about 2 and a half minutes. Not only that, but every instrument is fairly difficult! This is also the first chart I made that utilized a Big Rock Ending. So this is a big release for me!

So if you’ve ever heard this song before, you’ll know that bass is the real star of the show. On top of the fact that it stays consistently varied and super fun, it includes THREE bass solos, the final one of which is a real doozy. Guitar is mostly just variations of the same three chords, but it includes a solo that breaks up the monotony a bit, and the ending will definitely trip you up if you’re not paying attention. Drums are pretty fun too! A lot of snare rolls and a fair amount of ghost notes. Vocals are the only problem here. Gordon Gano does of a lot of talk-singing that I was unsure of whether or not some phrases should be talkies or not. I tried matching the pitches as best as I could, but sometimes your best isn’t good enough! Haha sorry if it’s too difficult. I can go back and fix the chart if I get too many complaints. Other than that, enjoy the rest of it! Or enjoy all of it!

                            aXNcEyw.jpg

I originally learned of this song when someone “leaked” a fake setlist for Guitar Hero: World Tour back in the day. I’ve been a fan ever since and always thought it would make a good Rock Band track. Surprised it took until today for it to be released, considering the amount of MCR songs already in the database.

So guitar is the most difficult instrument with a fairly heavy riff that plays during the intro and outro of the song. On top of that, there’s a pretty intense guitar solo. Drums includes some pretty quick fills that can definitely break your streak, but other than that, it’s deserving of its Tier 4 rating. Bass isn’t much, mostly just long strings of notes. Vocals could probably be a highlight of any My Chemical Romance song, so that’s no different here. Hope you all enjoy it!

                            FRq0z3r.jpg

This was one of the first customs I started working on, it’s just been in limbo for probably about a year. I’m glad it’s finally been released to the world! All it took was a council of people picking it as part of a community project for me to finally finish the sucker up.

Drums start the song off with a pretty difficult fill. Overall drums aren’t as fun as I originally expected the song to be. I suspect the awkwardly quick cymbal/cymbal-snare/cymbal pattern might be the result of a drum machine because it’s fairly awkward to play. But honestly once you get the hang of that, it’s still pretty fun. Guitar can easily trip you up if you’re not careful. The Bodhisattva-esque hammer-on chords in the hook are probably the most difficult part, so if you master those, you should be set. Bass is interesting enough, especially during the verses. And vocals will (hopefully) be great if you like the song!

                            FA3oejQ.jpg

I’ve had this one nearly-ready for months now, but I had to put off completing it in order to work on my C3G contributions. But after that was finally over, I thankfully didn’t have to wait long to release it. I was lucky that the song fit in to such an early week’s theme!

This song was popularized by the cartoon Adventure Time, in a scene in which Marceline the Vampire Queen covers the song for a Battle of the Bands competition (she loses her pick mid-way through the song, hence my hint haha). I had been aware of Mitski, but that scene was actually my first exposure to her music. Good stuff! I may chart more of her songs in the future.

It’s not a particularly complex song on any instrument, so if you’re already a fan of the song, vocals are probably going to be the star. Drums are varied enough to keep it interesting, even if not really difficult at all. Guitar and bass are easier still, but guitar at least has a fun little ending solo. And what’s this? Keys are also here? Yes! Are they super boring and only come in about halfway through the song? Maybe, but at least they’re THERE. Hope you guys enjoy!

                            ol9tlbV.jpg

                            Co-author yaniv297 writes:

“When talking about Arcade Fire, the word “anthemic” is used often. Maybe it’s the U2 and Springsteen influences, but even as an unknown low budget band, Arcade Fire always aimed for a huge sound. But nothing, nothing in this album or the band’s career is as anthemic as the show-stopping, unique “Wake Up”. This is the show closer, the climax. Everything – from the opening guitar chords, to the bass-snare beat, to those huge soaring “oh oh oh”s – just screams big stadiums. Lyrics are sparse, each word counts, as Butler pleads: “Children, wake up”, before the song takes a surprising key change and ends on a double-pace, playful outro. The song made a big impact – it was used by U2 as a concert opener as early as 2005, and the band played the song with none other than David Bowie the same year. It also makes a rather brilliant custom – I’m sure you’ll have fun playing and singing along to this amazing tune.”

So true. As for the charts, I was in charge of guitar, bass, and drums – none of which are too difficult. Vaniv took vocals and keys duties. I can’t speak for Yaniv’s parts, but none of my charts are too difficult. Once the song changes tempo about 2/3rds of the way through the song, however, it switches it up enough to keep it interesting. Hope you enjoy it!

“Originally recorded for their debut EP, “No Cars Go” is a joyous, upbeat and great anthem, of late-night escapism from a world dominated by cars and planes. ”No Cars Go” is a huge fan favorite and brilliant live song, and for a good reason. Led by a driven drum beat and accordion line, with great energy before exploding into a soaring climax, “No Cars Go” is a musical celebration of everything that’s good about Arcade Fire. And it promises to be an absolute blast on Rock Band as well.”

That it does. This one is actually quite fun on drums! Definitely the star of the song, apart from maybe keys, but I didn’t really have a hand in charting those. Like “Wake Up”, I was in charge of guitar, bass, and drums, while Yaniv did keys and vocals. I’m sure if you’re a fan of the song, you’ll have fun playing any instrument, but yeah drums and keys will probably be your best bet. Enjoy!

Amazing job everyone!! Special shout out to Yaniv for championing the Arcade Fire pack. If not for the pack existing, I probably wouldn’t have released these tracks for a while. Hope everyone enjoys them! Unfortunately I’ve gotta wait til I’m off work before I can upload my tracks to the database though.

I read the description but am confused about what it will be like, where can i find a simpler description. I am enthused that a set quality standard for releases.

I’m also prepared for Weezer. I love everything from 1994 to 2002 (Blue to Maladroit), hate nearly everything from 2005 to 2014 (Make Believe to Everything Will Be Alright in the End), then love the last two releases (the White Album and Pacific Daydream). I’m sure they’ll play some songs I hate or hate myself for not hating at the show, and I’ll deal with it (Pork and Beans and Troublemaker, I’m looking at you).

Everything Will Be Alright in the End is the best album they’ve released in the past 2 decades, and Pacific Daydream is literally unlistenable garbage. And I used to think you were alright haha

As for the Pixies, pretty much the whole Doolittle album is great. Some of my favorites that haven’t been mentioned yet are I Bleed, Dead, Mr. Grieves, Crackity Jones, and Gouge Away.
