Hi! I need your help, forumite!

Soon I’ll be going to a concert featuring Weezer with the Pixies and the Wombats as openers. I want to prepare myself for this experience by familiarizing myself with the artists.

The good news is I already love and have seen the Wombats. I’m totally prepared for them. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.

I’m also prepared for Weezer. I love everything from 1994 to 2002 (Blue to Maladroit), hate nearly everything from 2005 to 2014 (Make Believe to Everything Will Be Alright in the End), then love the last two releases (the White Album and Pacific Daydream). I’m sure they’ll play some songs I hate or hate myself for not hating at the show, and I’ll deal with it (Pork and Beans and Troublemaker, I’m looking at you).

And now we arrive at the issue at hand… the Pixies. I know nothing about the Pixies except Wave of Mutilation from Rock Band 1. And, as a Wii user, this song isn’t even in my library, so my exposure to it is limited. I need your expertise in learning about the Pixies before the concert arrives in the coming weeks.

      What songs should I know?

I’ve tried to think of an interesting way to do this:

      1. Name a Pixies song I should know. If somebody before you has already named the song you had in mind, think of another!

      2. Name a Pixies song you love by the band. Repeats are allowed here <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

I’ll edit and update this post as the songs come in to keep a master list that is easily accessible. Now, get to it!

“Where Is My Mind” is a song you must know by the Pixies. My personal favorites are “Hey” and “Broken Face”

Wow. This is an epic concert. I’ve seen them all individually at different points.

For the Pixies, the ones covered by Rock Band are their best known songs and ones they’ll probably play. In addition to Koopa’s absolute must know, there is Wave of Mutilation, Here Comes Your Man, Monkey Gone to Heaven, Gigantic and Debaser. Although people will throw tomatoes at me, they will be playing their new stuff, so you should consider Talent. I really like this song and do plan on charting it one day.

This is an absolute influential and important band, so basically you should know ALL of their music. Not sure why you’re still reading this, you should be studying now for your Pixies exam. Go!

Hey you’re in luck, Kloporte and I charted our favourite Pixies songs during c3thon. “What Goes Boom” is a recent one and probably my favourite overall.

Keeping the content Canadian since 2017!

Everything Will Be Alright in the End is the best album they’ve released in the past 2 decades, and Pacific Daydream is literally unlistenable garbage. And I used to think you were alright haha

As for the Pixies, pretty much the whole Doolittle album is great. Some of my favorites that haven’t been mentioned yet are I Bleed, Dead, Mr. Grieves, Crackity Jones, and Gouge Away.

*immediately cues up Everything Will Be Alright in the End*

              *finishes listening*

              *is not impressed*

              bro do you even weezer

WE ARE NEVER COLLABORATING AGAIN BECAUSE YOUR OPINION IS INFERIOR TO MY OWN.

…In all honestly, I haven’t listened to Everything Will Be Alright in the End in years… and I still don’t like it. I just feel like it’s pandering and they’re trying too hard. I realize how hypocritical that sounds considering how much I enjoy the two albums since then… I guess I’ve embraced it?

I have the same problem with Green Day. I thought American Idiot was incredible. 21st Century Breakdown? More like 21st Century LETDOWN AMIRITE??? I cannot express what a disappointment that album was. To this day, I still bitch about it. Like right now.

*immediately queues up Pacific Daydream out of spite and begins writing the rest of this post as the first track plays*

Man, I don’t know. I think the White Album was spectacular, and I fully expected it to be trash. And because I thought it was so good, I fully expected the followup, Pacific Daydream, to be trash. Yet I love it! It’s a fantastic summer pop rock album. I want to get trashed and listen to it every evening as the sun goes down. I plan on being in this state at the concert by the time Weezer hits the stage. :smug: And yes, I’m totally that guy who sings every word as if he’s on stage.

That being said, I fully anticipate the next album, the rumored Black Album, to be trash. I hope it isn’t, but I can’t expect Weezer pulling off three miracles in a row…
