Think I finally got it installed properly using the 32-bit version. For posterity, the final step was adding the W1 Limiter.dll VST plugin. Merely adding it to the ReaperPlugins folder didn’t work. Here’s how to properly load the plugin:
1) Put the W1 Limiter.dll file in a folder. I chose to create the folder C:Program Files (x86)ReaperPluginsVST and threw it in there.
2) In Reaper, press [Ctrl] + [P] (Windows) or [Cmd] + [,] (Mac)
3) Plug-ins > VST
4) Add the path from Step 1
5) Click Clear Cache / Re-Scan
Might need to restart Reaper for the changes to take effect.
Back to watching tutorial videos for me ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
REAPER 32bit version. IIRC I had troubles using the RBN plugins on the 64bit version of REAPER.
I’ll give it a shot later this week when I have more free time. Thanks!
Try with the 32 bit version.
Help me understand your suggestion. Are you saying I should install the 32-bit version of Reaper, the plugin(s), or something else?
Seeing this makes me so happy. Thank you.
You need to install the RBN plugins that you can find along with all other tools in the opening post of the stickied thread.
I did! I pointed it to the install directory for my Reaper install. I don’t know what the end file structure is supposed to look like, so it’s difficult for me to verify if it was properly installed or not.
In case it matters, Reaper installed to program filesREAPER (x64)
I’ve never authored anything before but am eager to learn. Having trouble getting Reaper (v4.22) properly configured right now.
I added the C3 Custom RB3 Template.RPP file to to %appdata%ReaperProjectTemplates and copied the W1 Limiter DLLs into both that folder and the Program filesReaperPlugins folders. Opening the C3 template in Reaper gives me the following errors:
The following effects were in the project file and are not available. Oceansize is my favorite band! Any prog lovers who aren’t familiar with them should definitely get acquainted with Frames, Everyone Into Position, and Effloresce. Can’t get enough.
Thank you so much!! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
How long is the filename? I encountered this issue a few weeks ago because I was using lengthy, descriptive filenames. Try using a short name without special characters.
October 5, 2015 at 11:44 pm in reply to: Songs not showing up & files seem to be dissappearing? #456908This 40 character thing may be the key. I just tested by removing the songs with the very long Dream Theater titles, and every other song below that worked. It seems as the 40 character thing is not just breaking the songs with >40 characters, but also preventing further loading of data from the USB, so that it doesn’t even see anything after the >40 songs.
Will test further this week.
I experienced that as well but somehow forgot to mention it. Also just noticed I have some songs with filenames slightly longer than 40 characters. Wonder what the actual threshold is.
October 5, 2015 at 1:55 am in reply to: Songs not showing up & files seem to be dissappearing? #456760We do not discuss official DLC/releases, so no, nobody will address that nor will anybody upload official DLC/releases.
With regard to #2, evidently we make the customs process so easy that it may seem that nothing can break. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> Actually, only C3 customs are guaranteed to work by us and only if you leave them untouched. Anything outside of that relies on either you touching them in a way that doesn’t break them or the original author having properly tested in game.
That’s what I thought, which is why I was surprised to find that song linked from a post here. Further searching on the song reveals that its crashing of the system is a known issue.
The tools are indeed easy to use; perhaps too easy? ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” /> Since it appears RBtoUSB is updated regularly, filename length validation may be a worthwhile consideration. Would certainly cut down on the number of support queries. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
Really appreciate the work you and others put into these resources. Once I get my desktop up and running, I plan to take a crack at authoring some songs.
October 5, 2015 at 1:00 am in reply to: Songs not showing up & files seem to be dissappearing? #456745I’ve been playing C3-only customs for a number of weeks without issue. Only in the past week did I discover there were (significantly) custom songs out there, very cool!
I encountered similar issues this weekend using v3.91 of C3 Tools and RBtoUSB. Read this thread in full and tried everything suggested to no avail. The two issues I encountered were:
- After loading all DLC, the entire system crashes when I try to enter the quickplay song list. Requires a reboot.
- DLC appears to load properly, and I can enter the quickplay song list. However, some songs are not showing up in the RB playlist and/or not being recognized by the console.
After extensive troubleshooting, pretty sure I’ve solved #2 and identified the culprit of #1. Someone more familiar with the authoring process will need to help me resolve #1.
#1 took many, many attempts to narrow down. I had a hunch that a single, errant file was bringing down the whole system, and I was right. Each time the game crashed, I went back and deleted the song cache, then deleted another group of songs and tried again. After dozens upon dozens of attempts at paring down my collection, I found Metallica’s Enter Sandman was the problem child. Whenever I attempt to boot up the game with this song on my flash drive, the system freezes when trying to load the quickplay song list. Something funky is happening with this file.
#2 is pretty straightforward. Upon stumbling across a crapload more custom songs than I knew existed, I began assigning more descriptive filenames to songs. After all, it’s not always easy to determine what song the default filename refers to (ex: “GHWT2V”). In many cases, the names I chose were lengthy. Shortening the filenames to <40 characters solved this issue. Note: deleting the song cache did not affect anything for #2.
Perhaps one of the tech gurus can run some tests with Enter Sandman to try and replicate this issue? Happy to upload the version I’m using, if necessary.
