So the customs appear on your game? In that case there is probably one custom you have that is causing all the issues. I know one song that used to do that was Sunday Morning – Maroon 5, although this has been fixed. If they have not appeared in your game, tell me which folder you are putting them in and if it copied to the DTA properly.

The issue appears to be with all con files as the log in con tools lists every file as failing the midi encryption. This happens with all encryption types and it happens immediately when it starts trying to encrypt, except for Type 2 where it has the imposed wait time. This is why I’m confused as it’s happening with 124 different con files.

Just wondering if there had been any other thoughts on this. I’m getting the “Unable to load… skipping” (UTLS) message for Pearl Jam’s W.M.A. I’ve tried encryption 2 and it still doesn’t work. I note in the C3 PS3 Converter log it says that it fails to encrypt the MIDI file. When I try and run the MIDI Encryption directly on the MIDI file itself in the W.M.A directory it still fails to encrypt it.

I’m guessing this MIDI encryption issue is what’s causing the UTLS message… just wondering if anyone has struck this before and has a solution for either the encryption failure or the UTLS problem?

Good. If you want, send me the songs.dta file that should have worked i.e. the “previous” and I can take a look.

I might take you up on that. I’ve narrowed it down to some specific songs that are causing it to crash. At the moment I’m just isolating those out and then my plan is to do exactly that myself. Thanks for the offer, I might be in touch!!

Thanks for the suggestions. You’re not wrong it’s both messy and disconcerting! I’ve gotten to the troubleshooting stage where I recreated a new (blank) songs.dta file and just tried adding songs into that and still nothing. Frustrating as anything. I think it’s definitely related to that file though as it will freeze anytime it tries to access the library (quickplay, road trip when it tries to take you to the library etc…). I think I’ll just have to try different things to get that damn file back into action!

          Appreciate the thoughts.

Edit: I just cleared everything out and put on one song with its associated .dta file and it loaded. Then I merged another couple into that and it loaded. Hallelujah. So clearly there is/was an error in that songs.dta file. Not sure why my archived copy wasn’t working but at least I’ve got things back up and running. It’ll just be a matter of adding songs in to narrow down which one contains the error that seems to trip it out… There are certainly some that seem to not like PS3 conversions in my experience.

          Anyway cheers.

I’ve managed to score an own-goal. Whilst trying to fix some songs that either froze when I hovered over them in the library or gave me the ‘Unable to Load Skipping’ message, I’ve somehow reached the point where my library won’t open. When I go to quickplay and choose songs it freezes before the library loads.

I was in the songs.dta file removing duplicated song info when it happened. I also tried using #2 encryption within C3Tools PS3 Converter with the CON files to see if that would help (iaw another thread).

Anyway, now I have the problem as stated. I have tried using the backup songs.dta file I had, I’ve tried removing all songs from the HMX0756/songs folder and starting again, I’ve tried having a blank songs/dta file and re-converting all the CONs I’ve got again to build from scratch but nothing has worked – freezes in the same place.

Is it possible I’ve stuffed up / removed another file somewhere in the BLES00986 directory? I notice user Shroud mentioned a ‘parsing error’ that sounded like it might cause a similar problem – does anyone else think so? I know enough to fiddle around (and get me in trouble clearly!) but all the fixes I’ve tried aren’t working. I haven’t tried cleaning out the HMX0756/songs folder and reinstalling the Free Pack… maybe that would reset it?

Anyway, before I reinstall it all (and lose achievements and fan numbers and my custom players etc…) I wanted to ask around to see if anyone had an idea. Any suggestions would be sincerely appreciated.

Simpler work-around: Solo the vocal section and record (i.e., render) that (in mono, 16000, 16 bit). That can serve as a DryVox. The animated singer will move its mouth when the vocal notes occur.

This is discussed in the authoring docs. It is very easy to make, and works almost as well as a real recording of you singing. Helps for those, like me, who suck at singing.

                Hi there,

I’m kinda happy with the idea of the Dryvox track being required for lipsynch. Can I just confirm though that if I want the singer to be lipsynching to the song, in addition to this dryvox track I have to still add notes into the vocals midi editor for every single syllable and then import the lyrics into those midi notes (as per Nyxyxylth’s tutorial)? I’d love my singer to be singing along and to make it work I’ve recorded a dryvox track and then gone through this process to import the lyrics (I’ve made all the notes unpitched at this point as I’m not particularly confident about pitching them all correctly etc…).

Essentially I’m wondering if there is a work-around to get the singer lipsynching without having to chart every syllable in the vocals midi editor? If there is I’ve done a bit of work for nothing haha.

Also, I notice a Dryvox1-stem track above the Dryvox track – this had some audio in it that I assume was automatically generated by my dryvox recording somehow? Is it essential? Just wondering.

Thanks for any help / info.

                  OK,

So after moving the [idle] markers as described above, and then realising I had deleted the beat marker one before the [end] event in all my mucking around, I successfully ran magma (after fixing a coupe of other obligatory errors that popped up).

Soooooo, as much as I enjoy publicly embarrassing myself by asking for help for a problem I can solve, and also highlighting exactly how incompetent I am at most things IT, I humbly withdraw my request for assistance (for now……!).

Maybe this will help some other noob in the future…

In subsequent R&D I moved each instrument’s initial [idle] event to 1:3:000 so there were 2 beats before them (when all else fails carefully read the errors huh) and now this is the only error message I receive:

ERROR: MIDI Compiler: (BEAT): BEAT track stops at [80:3:000] before end event at [81:1:000]

Don’t I want the last beat at 80:3:000 when my [end] event is at 81:1:000 i.e. stopping one beat before?

I’m also a little dubious the underlying problem is fixed as I have had the same thing happen before (all the previous errors disappear and the single error above present) when I removed the last TWO beats prior to the [end] event as part of my initial troubleshooting.

                        Hi all,

I’m using Reaper V4.22 (32bit) and downloaded Python 2.7.6 as per a number of the instructions. However, I’m aware these instructions were written some time ago and am wondering if Python 2.7.6 was the latest version at the time of writing.

My question is will the latest version of Python run with all the C3 software and tools? I’ve been looking through the forums to try and find an answer but haven’t had any luck sorry. (The reason I’m wondering if I can use Python 3.7.x is that I wanted to give Spleeter a go and it seems to like Python versions 3.7.x).

                        Thanks for any guidance.

Yeah, I went back in the forum to catch up after posting and saw your post about encryption – I’ll try that today. Like you say, maybe it’s charted a little funny or differently?

Well as you know that problem with those songs is not a new one, it exists for more then a year ago when we found out about that kind of problem with the songs she will be loved, Harder to breathe, Somebody That I Used to Know, Bless My Show.

I’m telling you that making the same 16 channel song with original magma V2 works, while doing it with your version makes song corrupted or freezing in the menu. I know the facts… and I don’t know where the problem is.

I can’t tell you where or why it is happening, I just know that when I run the song trough original v2 magma it plays fine with (6 2 2 2 2 2) config, while in rock edition it doesnt and makes the song freeze.

if you still have song she will be loved or any other problematic song I mentioned, run it trough magma v2 and send the con file to us ps3 users to test it.

I hope I’ve used the quote function correctly here team. Apologies if I’ve baked it. Has anyone with a PS3 managed to get Harder to Breathe working properly? I’ve tried downloading both the Xbox .con in the Customs database and converting it, as well as the PS3 .rar from the legacy database but both still get all out of synch whilst playing. Just wondering if anyone has ever found a solution?

                                Hi all,

Firstly this looks fantastic. Thanks very much to all those who have made it happen. I’m in no way, shape or form a programmer / coder and so am trying to wade through all the initial setup info; I’d love some help if anyone is feeling particularly generous to a complete novice.

I’m PAL for a start – do I still absolutely have to be on CFW 4.21? I have 4.78 loaded with Rebug Tool 02.02.09. After that am I correct in thinking that I will have to download CON Tools and manually convert any songs I want from the Xbox format into the PS3 PAL format and FTP them into the …/HMX0756/songs folder?

If anyone has recently set up a PAL system for PS3 C3 songs and is feeling benevolent, I would love to hear about any top tips or tricks you discovered. Many thanks.
