Hot damn, this is a big week! Where to begin? How about six slightly deeper dives into the Bon Jovi discography, bringing Rock Band’s Bon Jovi total to nineteen songs (counting our release of “Always”)? If that doesn’t do it for you, how about the Rock Band debuts of A Perfect Circle, Bad Brains, R. Kelly, and Sleigh Bells? At the very least, you’ve heard “Hunger Strike” before, and the rest of this week’s songs offer multitracks and fantastic challenges over a wide variety of genres. Pick your favorites from these fifteen songs — or download them all! — and get down to business. For me, that’s the business of getting “Ignition (Remix)” out of my head. Again.
We’ve also got several songs by new authors this week, including one from our new “Show Floor” program! The Show Floor lets non-C3 authors collaborate with C3 authors to have their songs put out there as part of an official Friday release. If you’re a full-band author (or you’re mostly there and don’t mind collaborating with others), come check it out on our forums!

Why should you download these songs?
- “Bed of Roses” – I’ll let DVDSmith, the author of this pack, handle these! “One of Bon Jovi’s best-known ballads, many people thought this was the biggest song missing from the Greatest Hits pack released for Rock Band 3. Incredibly fun to sing and with a challenging-but-enjoyable keyboard chart.”
- “Blood on Blood” – “This deep cut from the 1988 New Jersey album is all about brothers growing up, and features the most difficult drum chart in Bon Jovi’s repertoire so far, as well as challenging guitar, bass and keyboard parts. Although never released as a single, this song became so popular with Bon Jovi fans that it made their 2010 Greatest Hits album.”
- “Dry County” – “Here it is at last. Dry County. Bon Jovi’s epic, their magnum opus, their Stairway to Heaven, their November Rain, their Freebird, their Jungleland. The one song I have wanted in a rhythm game ever since I discovered what rhythm games were. The definition of a fan-favourite, this is by far Bon Jovi’s most-requested song at their live shows, and at over nine minutes long and with THREE Richie Sambora guitar solos, it’s not hard to see why. A must for any Rock Band fan.”
- “Keep the Faith” – “One of Bon Jovi’s best-known songs not in Rock Band, marking their first major genre shift from hair metal into grunge-influenced hard rock. A great bass riff, rocking drum beat and fun vocals.”
- “Raise Your Hands” – “A live staple of Bon Jovi’s shows, this energetic deep cut from Slippery When Wet gets audiences bouncing and Expert Guitar players running scared. By far the band’s most difficult song on guitar (even more so than Dry County), if only for its sheer relentlessness. This version of Raise Your Hands comes from the 2005 DualDisc release and features an extended intro and outro.”
- “These Days” – “And here we have my personal favourite Bon Jovi song, the title track from what is considered to be their darkest and deepest album. With a haunting piano intro and one of Jon Bon Jovi’s best vocal performances, this one is for the singers out there. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.”
- “Judith” – Lowlander says, “Surprisingly even in the move to WOR’s Expert+ with ghost snares, this song was missing a lot of them. What was once a mildly challenging drum chart with a few tricky crossover fills is now, while not an exceedingly fast song, an exceptionally hard song to be consistent on. While the other instruments are certainly fun, it’s a must play on drums.”
- “Re-Ignition” – There certainly isn’t anything quite like this song! Challenge yourself with the vocals. A few drinks might help.
- “Lost in the Echo” – The first song to be released as part of our new Show Floor system, where non-C3 authors can release songs with the help of a C3 author! Nightmare Lyra says, “Really fun percussion-driven drums and varied jumps between rapping, singing and screaming on Vocals.”
- “Not Letting Go” – Nightmare Lyra says, “Energetic drums, great harmonies and loads of fun riffs should make this a no-brainer for any Pop Punk fan to download.”
- “Ignition (Remix)” – It’s the freakin’ weekend! Everyone knows this song, which translates to Rock Band surprisingly well for what it is. Vocals are obviously the main draw, but the other band members won’t be bored, especially bass.
- “Run the Heart” – I like to think of Sleigh Bells as kind of like The Flaming Lips but with a female vocalist. This avant-garde piece features full multitracks, and is a great download for fans of “Crown on the Ground” or “Rill Rill”.
- “Hunger Strike” – I’M GON HUNGRYYYYYHHHHHHH! A huge grunge staple that was somehow missed by Harmonix. Check out the fun instrumentation on almost everything, or sing it with your best over-the-top gravelly grunge voice at your next Rock Band party.
- “Still Fly” – A metalcore cover of a hip-hop song from the album Punk Goes Crunk, where various pop-punk and ____-core bands covered hip-hop and R&B songs. Like All Time Low doing “Umbrella”! Break all of the bones in your feet on the tricky 2x bass version or challenge your fast strumming skills on guitar or bass.
- “Cathedral” – Another one of the guitar-only shredfests from GH:Van Halen. If you play guitar, this is a no-brainer.

Not so much of a complaint as something that bugs me.
The phrase lengths during the chorus of “Not Letting Go” seem like they could be better (example: “Little filly tell me now / Why this angel never leaves the ground / She’s not the type to follow through / The story’s pages start and end with you” compared to what it is in the video). Also, something I see kinda often is a lack of question marks. Again, not a big deal. Just would make the chart look nicer.
Adding to that…
The charting for the “Rhythm Version” is a bit odd.. I can hear another guitar during the first chorus that I expected to play, but instead it’s an exact copy of the lead chart. Also, the lead chart for the other chorus sections is what I thought was a rhythm guitar (doesn’t matter too much, but the lead chart feels more like a rhythm one)

…disregard the rhythm stuff. Didn’t see the “rhythm on keys” thing.
While question marks are allowed, they should be used sparingly, according to HMX docs, which is what we tend to do. I can’t find a good example off the top of my head but I personally try to not use question marks (which IMO distract while reading on screen) unless it’s a quote or something like that.
Outstanding, in my humble opinion, one of the best packs ever made.

Some awesome releases! Really surprised that Judith didn’t get the impossible vocal tiering though, any particular reason why it didn’t?
Probably because it is catchy enough so that you can easily follow the melody even if those held notes are challenging indeed. Vocal authoring is a weird and often subjective thing too.

Heck yes, Lost in the Echo is my favorite song from Living Things and that drum part always sounded awesome.
Lost In The Echo sounds really off to me. I think the keyboard part is behind the rest of the song by a measure. At least the audio is, I don’t know if the chart is off as I haven’t played the key part.
Yep we noticed that and a fixed version has already been uploaded. Just re-dowload it and rename the CON file to “LostInTheEchoV2” or something and it should be fixed.
