Writing copy is hard. Did you know that today in 2005 marked the launch of Discovery, NASA’s first mission after the Columbia disaster? Today is also the birthday of Mick Jagger (who is 70, holy crap), Kevin Spacey, Sandra Bullock, and Tim Schafer (Double Fine Productions – Psychonauts)! At least one of those facts is vaguely Rock Band related! Aren’t you glad these blog posts are so informative?
This week marks a moment many of you have been waiting for — the glorious arrival of a proper Supertramp pack. And a proper pack it is! farottone has prepared six tracks from The Very Best of Supertramp. You might say they’re the very best from that album. If you didn’t mind getting punched in the face. Anyway, Supertramp is an awesome rock/prog rock/”art rock?” band, and they’ve been sorely missed in Rock Band. The following tracks join “Breakfast in America” from our July 4th release:
- “School”, from 1974’s Crime of the Century, features a very different sound than the band’s later stuff. It has a sweet keys part.
- “Give a Little Bit”, from 1977’s Even in the Quietest Moments…, is easily recognizable from the title. This song is a staple of classic rock radio stations, and features 12-string acoustic guitars.
- “Goodbye Stranger”, from 1979’s Breakfast in America, has those awesome falsetto call-and-response parts that will be super fun to break out at parties.
- “Take the Long Way Home”, also from Breakfast in America, has one of rock & roll’s most famous harmonica parts.
- “The Logical Song”, though, is Supertramp’s biggest hit from Breakfast in America. It peaked at #6 in America, and you’ve totally heard it before, even if it’s not familiar from the title. Go Google the lyrics or something.
- We’re also offering “The Logical Song (Karaoke Version)”, which is a slightly different cut of the song. It features separated lead vocals, but no backing vocals.
- “It’s Raining Again”, from 1982’s …Famous Last Words…, has a bitchin’ melodica solo. All of the harmonies in this song are sung by the band’s (former) lead vocalist, Roger Hodgson.
- “Why are these listed under the best-of album and not the original albums?” farottone, the author, made this call. In short, it’s because the best-of album has the highest chance of being completed by C3 in the future. In the interim, only one album (Breakfast in America) would have enough songs to get an album header anyway. Some of you will definitely prefer the original album art; the good news is that you can change it! After downloading the songs, you can use our custom versions of Le Fluffie and Magma to edit the song packages directly. For more info, see our Authoring Tools forum.
Not to be outdone, Nyxyxylyth brings in a single this week as well. Del Shannon’s “Runaway” was a #1 hit in America in the early 1960’s, before any of this British Invasion nonsense. It marks the beginning of the 1960’s poppy rock & roll that evolved from the 1950’s style of Elvis Presley/Buddy Holly/etc. It’s something that probably never would have happened in legit DLC, and we’re happy to serve it as a custom.
We’ve also got a slew of Rock Band Harmonies Project upgrades today from thomeval, CyclopsDragon, GreenPanda12, LoopyChew, espher, and Mr. Underhill. 12 songs have new harmony charts, 3 have new Keys/Pro Keys charts, and 70(!) songs have received vocal tonic note information. For a full list, check out the full version of this blog post; to download the upgrades, visit the RBHP site.
As usual, we encourage you to check out our forums to get involved with the RB customs scene. If you don’t see your favorite songs, you can author them yourself!
See you next Friday!

good stuff this week guys, thanks. i will pick up a few of those supertramp songs and get all of the harmony updates that i have the dlc for.
I’m not a supertramp fan, but those harmonies in Goodbye Stranger are to cool to resist. While it’s not for me, I’m glad Rock Band finally has a supertramp pack.
Thank you for giving my Friday an extra reason to be awesome. I really appreciate all this work and have downloaded most of the releases every week so far. There is always something for me. It’s like you’re reading my mind…
If there was a place, or a way to donate; I would.
I often wondered why there was no Supertramp??
I personally thought “Here for a good time” by Trooper would have been the best final release from Harmonix, Not American Pie 😛
You have truly created an authentic experience here with the customs. Like HMX never left.
p.s. anything more off Appetite for Destruction or some Volbeat would fuse me to my drum stool 🙂
OMG, how do you keep doing these fantastic releases. I love all of the songs and the pro guitar is icing on the top. BIG thanks to all of you!!!
Awesome week. Supertramp will get some play, for sure.
My reaction this morning was “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH”, because this is so awesome.
Glad to see the Supertramp stuff finally released. Great week!
Once again, an awesome week of releases. Thank you so much for all the wonderful charting and songs that you release every week!
This was pretty much a bunch of “oh I recognize that song” … Songs. Very nice choices.
Love it, love it, love it. Thank you!
I loves me some Supertramp…
Awesome week. Supertramp & Del Shannon. Great stuff. Would of loved to see something with harmonies from Del, but love the song pick regardless.
This is totally amazing, but still needs more Crime Of The Century… :3
This album is missing a few songs, will this be complete sometime, the songs that were not made are, Rudy,Bloody Well Right,Crime of the Century,Cannonball,Dreamer,Ain’t Nobody but Me,Hide in Your Shell, and From Now On. Anyway thanks love all the Supertramp customs.
There are a couple of songs I don’t like enough to do a custom, so either someone else work on those or the album won’t be complete. However, yes, some of those (or at least one) will see the light of day this year.
Maybe just Bloody Well Right? and i’ll give you a cookie (it has M&Ms in it). 🙂 lol
Fantastic stuff guys….Supertramp is very nice addition to RB3 for me – thank you so much for the work (I am trying to learn to do it myself, so I really do appreciate the amount of time put into this!)….dare I hope for a Styx pack (Come Sail Away is screaming to be done…lol…paired with Renegade / Too Much Time On My Hands / The Grand Illusion?) or Fleetwood Mac (The Chain / Tusk / Gold Dust Woman?) at any rate, big thanks again…it will be quite some time before I can do anything remotely close to what you guys are putting out!
This is awesome! Many thanks to farottone and customscreators for making me pick up my plastic instruments again! I just recently discovered customs and it’s like a whole new world waiting to be explored! Kudos to ALL of the customs creators for giving a LOT!
Has the “nasty bug” mentioned on the C3 Twitter been ironed out yet? Will download from this week’s release as soon as I know for sure!
well, the post said the songs would be back as soon as the bugs were fixed. the post is back 🙂
Lovely, thanks for the reply!
