There are releases, and there are releases. We’ve done some big stuff in the past. At least ten full albums, too many ten- and twelve-packs to count; last week’s full Dream Theater album with multitracks, plus Octavarium (and Images & Words as one of those ten albums!); and even a bunch of single songs over ten minutes long. All of these are noteworthy, and potentially deserving of the hallowed Internet descriptor “epic”, but none so much as this week’s release. This one is epic even by the standards of the Internet Epic Police.
Genesis Chronicles is here, with 81 new songs and over 36 HOURS of Rock Band gameplay. (Sorry that we failed to get exactly 80 songs.) farottone has worked his ass off, with help from many other C3 authors, to bring you a true chronicle of the British prog group’s history from 1969 to 1991. Do you like to skim weekly releases for big party hits? We’ve got it all — “Follow You Follow Me”, “Misunderstanding”, “That’s All”, “Invisible Touch”, “Tonight, Tonight, Tonight”, “Land of Confusion”, “I Can’t Dance”, and tons more. Do you play Rock Band for the true rock experience on guitar, bass, drums, or keys? Check out the literally dozens of prog epics from the first half of the Genesis discography, with plenty of challenging parts on every instrument.
The scope of this release is so staggeringly huge that a simple blog post can’t do it justice, so farottone has prepared a special Genesis Chronicles website below. It’s chock full of information, including videos and special info blurbs for every song, and it’s super cool. You can even download CON packages of each full album! The songs are also available in our database as usual, but I highly recommend using the Chronicles site for everything. It’s the ideal medium for a release of this magnitude.

Genesis Chronicles

Play through your old favorites, discover some new ones, and give farottone a high-five if you see him. He would make Genesis proud.
See you next Friday!

  1. I almost melt my F5 refreshing the page , but it’s finally here
( Now i got another excuse to not leave my room for a long time haha )
I bow to all the authors/fretters/charters/music lovers that made this posible
Thanks , a thousand times thanks to everyone !
    Greetings from Argentina !

  2. While I don’t exactly listen to Genesis, I appreciate all the effort you guys went through to get this done. It’s astounding.
On a slightly related note, you said you released 81 songs, but the database only has 77. Thought you guys should know.
Thanks for all the fantastic work you’ve done over the past year+.

    1. As mentioned on the forums, some of the songs were combined together for gameplay purposes. These include:
      1) In The Beginning/The Fireside Song
      2) Home by the Sea/Second home by the Sea
      3) The Cinema Show/Aisle of Plenty
      4) In the Rapids/It

  3. 1. You guys are a-freaking-mazing. You managed to hit every single one of my all-time favorites. I nearly shat myself when I saw Driving The Last Spike on the list.
    2. There *is* a problem: A release like this should have a “download all” button.

    1. 1) I personally wanted that so hard in the release and Ollie is such an outstanding guy that made it happen contributing bass and guitar.
      2) A Download All button would brutalize our puny server. 😀

        1. It will take a bit more patience. Actually, the issue wa ran into was so severe that we were about to pull the song altogether before release, that’s why it’s taking some time to push it out.

  4. Oh my..that is absolutely mindblowing! The level of commitment and energy you all put into all of this is inspiring.
Genesis? represented. I could die happy if you could please please do the same thing for tool?

  5. Are you guys ever going to do another Chronicles release? Obviously not for a long time but I’m wondering whether or no this is going to be a one off thing. Seriously though great work this is spectacular.

  6. I had listened to all of Genesis’ albums except “Duke.” A month ago I listened to it; I can’t stop listening it. It’s the best; they were at their top in composition, arrangements, ensemble playing; and those who still resent Collin’s take over of the band, in Duke he plays and sings like no one; he admits being a loser in love, “Alone again, alone again tonight,” what a feeling!
