So, Planet Earth… Very well done, good job, I really enjoyed working on it. Here is the RPP with my editings:

        http://keepitfishy.com/farottone/planetearth.rar

These are comments about some things you still need to edit yourself…

        General

        – Great fadeout, excellent choice.

        Drums

        – Check all open hi hat notes. I fixed them up until measure 43. I already took care of those from M84-M95 because they are a different pattern.

        – This is a classic Duran Duran fast disco beat, I simplified those two handed spots like at measure 68, 70 and before and after, so that the deep sound is represented by B+G and I left a 1/16th space so that the it’s humanly possible to hit it.

        – I changed slightly the drum fill like in M74. That’s a double tracking obviously but I think having the final snare hits is better, plus it leaves space to better modulate the start of the fill. However, I’m torn on this one, so if you don’t like it, feel free to change it back.

        Bass

        – See if you agree with the added O at M89-93 and at the end. If not, remove them.

        Guitar

        – I only changed Expert, if you agree with everything please adapt the other difficulties.

        – M112-127, that section is all a series of mute with those accented chords. See if you want to make it that way (a bit harder to play) or not.

        Vocals

        – Planet Earth, capital E

        – My personal guess is that those F on H2 are F# but I’ll let you call it.

        – You can’t have OD phrases with just one note, as you have on Keys.

Actually, you can, you just want to avoid it 95% of the time if possible. For examples of when it can work, see the unison bonuses at the end of the post-choruses in Don’t Fear The Reaper

          Actually, you can

Unless Magma C3 has removed the check, Magma won’t compile.

I think one of my Canada Day tracks has single-note OD phrases.

EDIT: Can confirm, “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff” has a single-note unison phrase on keys and drums, both being a single note.

I have never had problems with that, it just fucks up compiling if there is no non-OD notes between OD phrases rather

So it seems, I don’t know why but I was convinced you couldn’t.

Just asking, are reductions necessary for other instruments? I can edit them unless you want to do it.

Here is my next playtest for Another Winter. Sorry for the long wait, things have been happening. Whenever I say “all repititions” I essentially mean when the song loops. There were some issues I missed on my first playtest on Expert, but after this playtest this should be about ready for prime-time. Also, I still plan on doing that venue for you.

                  PRO KEYS

                  Expert

                  – Mostly, well done here, the chart is almost ready for prime-time! Just a few things to take care of.

                  – M9-M12 (and all repititions): These are chords. Add E3 to all notes in this section.

                  – M35 (and all repititions): This was bad instruction on my part, apologies. This should actually go E3-C#3-A2-B2-C#3.

                  – M41-M45 (and all repititions): All instances of C3 should be C#3. C is not in the scale for this song.

                  Hard

                  – M9-M12 (and all repititions): Same fixes here as in expert.

                  – M35 (and all repititions): Same fixes here as in expert.

                  – M41-M45 (and all repititions): Same fixes here as in expert.

                  Medium

                  – M9-M12 (and all repititions): Same fixes here as in higher difficulties.

                  – M25.4 (and all repititions): Lower this note down an octave. Octave-long jumps are not allowed on Medium, so it’s best to lower this one so that the next measure retains it’s current accuracy with the pattern.

                  – M33.3, M37.3, M46.1 (and all repititions): This sustain is too short for Medium, reduce it to 1/16th.

                  – M35.2.5-M35.3.5 (and all repititions): Same fixes for these two notes as in higher difficulties.

                  – M43.2.5 (and all repititions): Same fix to this note as in higher difficulties.

                  Easy

                  – Why are there animation markers on the Easy track? Those belong on the five-lane keys track.

                  – All sustains that are 1/4th long should be reduced to 1/16th, since that would be too short for Easy.

                  – M25.3, M27.3 (and all repititions): I would remove these notes. At this tempo 4th notes would be a bit fast for Easy, so best to remove these notes and keep the sustains to get the general “feel” of the chart.

                  – M35.2.5 (and all repititions): This should be A2.

                  – M43.2.5 (and all repititions): This should be C#3.

                  – M61-M62 (and all repititions): You need to shorten these two sustains. The first so that it has 1/4th space before the next note, and the second one should be 1/16th, since if you were to reduce it by another 1/8th it’d be too short for Easy.

                  5-Lane Keys

                  – Make sure to adjust animation markers so that they account for the added intro chords. The keyboardist should be playing those

                  Expert

                  – M5-M9 (and all repititions): As with pro keys, this is chords. Add an orange note to each note here.

                  – M35.2 (and all repititions): This should be yellow, since the note at M35.3.5 is the same pitch and yellow.

                  – M41.1, M43.1, M45.1 (and all repititions): This should be yellow, since the other yellows in this pattern are the same pitch.

                  Hard

                  – M5-M9 (and all repititions): As with expert, these are chords. Add orange.

                  – M29-M32 (and all repititions): This should be handled similarly to how it was on pro keys. I’d suggest doing this.

                  – M41,1, M43.1, M45.1 (and all repititions): As with expert, these should be yellow.

                  – M49.2-M49.4, M50.2-M50.4, M57.2-M57.4, M58.2-M58.4 (and all repititions): This should be lowered by one note, since the notes at the start of the following measures are a higher pitch.

                  Medium

                  – M5-M9 (and all repititions): Same as higher difficulties.

                  – M13.3, M17.3 (and all repititions): This should be red on this difficulty, the note at M17.1 should be green, and the notes at M14.1, M14.3, M18.1 and M18.3 should be yellow (this also applies to all repititions). This will wrap this segment better for this difficulty.

                  – M29-M32 (and all repititions): Wrap similarly to how I told you on Hard.

                  – M41.2.5, M45.2.5 (and all repititions): I would put this to yellow, since the note at M43.2.5 is also the same pitch and yellow.

                  – M49.2-M49.4, M50.2-M50.4, M57.2-M57.4, M58.2-M58.4 (and all repititions): Same as on Hard.

                  Easy

                  – M13-M18 (and all repititions): Similar fixes as Medium.

                  – M29-M32 (and all repititions): I’d base this more off of the Medium and Hard reductions I gave you here.

                  – M33.3-M34.4.5 (and all repititions): Move these down by one note. The previous orange not at M32.3 is a different pitch than that at M33.3, and the orange-green jump at M34.4.5 is not allowed on Easy.

                  – M41.2.5, M45.2.5 (and all repititions): Make this yellow, for the same reasons I explained before.

                  – M53.2 (and all repititions): Lower these three orange notes. The green-orange jump is not allowed on Easy.

                  DRUMS

                  Expert

                  – M30.3.5 (and all repititions): I missed this last version, but there is a kick here.

                  – M34.4, M38.4, M42.4, M46.4 (and all repititions): I missed this last version as well, but there is a snare here.

                  – M41.1 (and all repititions): Missed this as well, this should be a crash.

                  Hard

                  – The constant 8th kicks are a bit much for Hard, especially given the tempo. I’d personally reduce all instance of three 8th kicks in a row to one where it’d be on Medium, and all instances of two 8th kicks to include only the second one in drum fills, or the first one during the disco flip segment.

                  – M30.3.5 (and all repititions): You can add the missing kick here.

                  – M32 (and all repititions): This is an example of the kicks being a bit much. Remove the ones at M32.1.5 and M32.3.

                  – M34.4, M38.4, M42.4, M46.4 (and all repititions): Add the missing snare here.

                  – M41.1 (and all repititions): Swap in the crash I mentioned for Expert.

                  Medium

                  – M32.3 (and all repititions): I personally would not put a kick here, given that you’re hitting a tom in a fill at the same time.

                  – M34, M38, M42, M46 (and all repititions): Remove the kicks, add in the snare from higher difficulties.

                  – M40.3 (and all repititions): I’d remove the kick here as well.

                  – M41.1 (and all repititions): Swap in the crash.

                  – M52.1 (and all repititions): Again, I’d remove the kicks here.

                  Easy

                  – M29-M30 (and all repititions): You can add the crashes here.

                  – M31-M32 (and all repititions): Remove the kicks at M31.2, M31.4, and M32.2, since at this tempo 4th kicks are not a good idea on easy.

                  – M34, M38, M42, M46 (and all repititions): Add the snares here as well, and possibly remove the crash before OR after.

                  – M49-M56 (and all repititions): Shorten this to 1/2nd kicks rather than 1/4th kicks. The tempo is much too fast for something like this.

                  GUITAR

                  Expert

                  – M41-M42 (and all repititions): After listening to this again, I think that the differences between palm-muted and “rung” notes are too distinct to just have it all as chords. It’s usual procedure to have the palm-muted notes charted as single notes to differenciate the two in the chart. I would remove the yellow notes at M41.2.5-M41.3.5 and M41.4.5-M42.2.

                  – M42.4.5, M46.4.7 (and all repititions): These sustains should have a 1/16th space before the next note; they currently have a 1/32nd space.

                  – M44 (and all repititions): After listening closely, this is a different chord than the previous measure. I’d chart it as RY chords.

                  – M45-M46 (and all repititions): For this part I’d remove the yellow notes from M45.3-M46.2.

                  – M48 (and all repititions): The whole measure should be YO chords.

                  – M63 (and all repititions): I’d make this yellow, since it isn’t the same pitch as the blue note at M61.

                  Hard

                  – M5-M30 (and all repititions): There needs to be breaks between streams of 1/8th notes on Hard. there should be no more than seven straight notes per measure. Therefore, for M5, M7, and M9, M11, M13, M15, M17, M19, M21, M23, M25, M27, M29 and M30 I would remove the last note in the measure.

                  – M41-M42, M45-M46 (and all repititions): Make sure to apply the same changes I told you to make on Expert.

                  – M42.4.5, M46.4.7 (and all repititions): Same as expert.

                  – M44 (and all repititions): Same as expert.

                  – M48 (and all repititions): Same as expert.

                  – M49-M55 (and all repititions): Lower these by one note. The O-G jump on M55 should be avoided.

                  – M63 (and all repititions): Same as expert.

                  Medium

                  – M5-M28 (and all repititions): If you want to be more true to the chord structure on higher difficulties, a suggested chord structure would be R-B, G-Y, R-B, and R-Y.

                  – M33-M46 (and all repititions): You should lower the GY chords to GR, because the notes at M44 need to be changed to a lower chord, and GY would be the only viable option.

                  – M41.3, M42.1, M43.3, M43.4, M44.1 (and all repititions): As with higher difficulties, remove the yellow notes here.

                  – M44 (and all repititions): With the other GY chords lowered to GR chords, these should be changed to GY to match the chord progression of Hard and Expert.

                  – M49-M62 (and all repititions): All instances of sustains that last 1/4th should be shortened to 1/16th notes, since they are currently too short for Medium.

                  – M57-M63 (and all repitions): Raise this up one note for two reasons: A) The note clash between M56.3 and M57 is a big no-no. Even though it’s no longer required to compile, it is still suggested you have at least one Orange note on higher difficulties to suite late-era Rock Band reduction fashion.

                  Easy

                  – M44 (and all repititions): The chord change needs to be taken into account here. Since Easy isn’t as much about accuracy as much as it’s about differentiating notes, you can get away with making these notes yellow to prevent note clash with the previous and next measures.

                  – M49-M63 (and all reptititions): Wrapping this for Easy is a bit tricky, especially if you want to follow the old rule of including at least one blue and one orange note in the chart. I have made an attempt to wrap it myself in a fashion that doesn’t have not clashing and also includes higher notes.

                  BASS

                  Expert

                  – Sustains need 1/16th space before the next note; these currently have 1/32nd space.

                  – M29-M30 (and all repititions): I think I may have confused you here last round. Let me supply a picture of what I hear here.

                  Hard

                  – M5-M28 (and all repititions): This should be reduced similarly to how Guitar should be reduced. As it is now it’s overreduced.

                  – M29-M30 (and all repititions):

                  – M49-M62 (and all repititions): Again, overreduced here. Should be like guitar from M5-M30.

                  Medium

                  – M12.3, M20.3, M28.3 (and all repititions): These should be a different pitch. Since orange is out of the question in this situation, I’d make them yellow.

                  Easy

                  – M5-M28 (and all repititions): You need to wrap this differently. For example, M7-M8 should be red, M9-M10 should be green, M11-M12.1 should be red. M12.3 should remain yellow.

                  – M29-M30 (and all repititions): The yellows should be red, the red should be yellow for wrapping reasons.

                  – M34.4.5, M38.4.5 (and all repititions): This should be yellow for reasons of wrapping.

                  – M42.4.5, M46.4.5 (and all repititions): This should be red.

Also, to farottone, I’m wondering if the empty spot at M12.1.5 in the drums track is intentional or maybe an error? Just asking because I was confused when making the fixes.

M9-M12 (and all repititions): These are chords. Add E3 to all notes in this section.

                      – M35 (and all repititions): This was bad instruction on my part, apologies. This should actually go E3-C#3-A2-B2-

M5-M9 (and all repititions): As with pro keys, this is chords. Add an orange note to each note here.

I’m confused. I assume you meant M9 to M12?

Yes, sorry about that. I meant M5-M12 for both cases, actually. I have no one to blame but myself there.

Sorry, I forgot to reply earlier. No, I don’t think you need to go over the other reductions, the charts were in pretty good shape. However, those open hi hats are still lacking, essentially they are on each x.3.50 of every measure of the main beat (with a few exceptions). I’m looking at M44-45 in example, and other occurances.

                          It’s looking very good, excellent.

                              Another update of “Planet Earth”

Hopefully, all of the open hi-hats are charted.

Also, I felt that that there sonically distinctive notes in drums between M84-M95 and the part near the end. I made some changes based on that because I personally think that it does not feel right hitting consecutive yellow hi-hats when there are distinctly different sounds. If you, by you I mean farottone, disagree with me, feel free to change it back to your version.

Another thing since it is unanswered, I’m wondering if the empty spot at M12.1.5 in the drums track is intentional or maybe an error? Just asking because I was confused when making the fixes.
