+ This week’s release includes a harmony upgrade for Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Proud Mary”; however, this upgrade will not work under TU4/TU5 (and potentially some older TUs). Some of you may remember that, at RB3’s release, Proud Mary showed up in-game as having three harmony parts. This was later fixed in a title update (the same update that fixed problems with the Tenacious D/Dinosaur Jr/etc. week not showing up in game). Unfortunately, this means that I can’t ‘lie’ to the cache about the number of parts the song has (at least in a way I’ve found so far), because the TU value is the one used. Since I had charted it anyway, it is included for those of you that integrate updates into the source song files — with the caveat that it has NOT received the in-game polishing passes that the songs usually get before release since I was unable to load it up.

Great stuff. I’m especially looking to playing flailing at pro guitar on “Highway Star”, “Foreplay / Long Time” and “Carry On Wayward Son”. Thank you and columbo777 for all your continued hard work!

So I saw in the old thread that (posted by Espher) pro guitar/bass includes keys and such. However, I got the new pro guitar ones. I am currently at the stage at the 2-item cache rebuild where you can look at your song list, and I see the new pro guitar is there, but no keys for songs like HIghway Star or Foreplay. Keys for other songs RHBP are still there.

Is there something you have to do to get both at once? Sorry if this has been asked before

        #434515

Follow up: The new pro guitar songs all fail to make it past the loading screen (well, the two I tried, Carry On/Foreplay did), possibly because I have a keys score without actually having the keys part (since the keys vanished when I got the new pro guitar thing). Old pro guitar RBHPs work, I tried Back in the Saddle just to check.

Would having a keys score without the keys chart make something fail to load?

Your right that the keys parts are now gone for Kansas, Deep Purple, and Boston. I noticed that Jethro Tull still has the keys part so maybe this update effected the songs that got the Pro Guitar/Bass upgrades.

It’s a Snoop Lion Christmas. :haw:

Has anyone gotten the new pro guitar tracks to work?

I think I may have been wrong earlier when I said it was keys related (although the keys are still gone), because Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Move Along also freeze, and I’m not sure if those even had keys. If they do, I don’t have a score for them anyway.

I re-exported the files, but perhaps the wrong songs.dta files got in them.

I’ll double-check my notes, but… these posts should go in the release thread (it’s an announcement atm). <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>

re: Boulevard/Move Along, those songs both have keys.

Edit: Oh, uh, it should also be the other way around. Keys include PG/PB. I think I screwed that up in my post.

              Basically,

              Harmonies

              Harmonies + Pro Drums

Harmonies + Pro Drums + Pro Guitar/Pro Bass

              Harmonies + Pro Drums + Pro Guitar/Pro Bass + Pro Keys/Keys

The rationale for this is that PK/K have an impact on audio/animations, so they’re ‘odd’ option and have to include all the core stuff above it. PD & PG/PB don’t require cache trickery and don’t gum anything up, so they’re safe.

Are you guys seeing freezes when picking not-PG and not-PB? The .mids look okay to me at a glance, but…

                #434591

I’ll try re-loading them with the pro keys optional file, with various instruments ingame, and check, when I get home later.

                #434593

Also, I tried loading Carry On Wayward Son on regular vocals, and RBHP harmonies, and both worked. THen I tried switching to pro guitar while in-song and it froze again.

This is before I changed any files. I will change the files now.

                #434594

I replaced the files with the ones from the optional pro keys folder. Now pro keys and pro guitar both show up. My pro keys scores have returned, and I can play the pro keys charts. (and everything else besides pro guitar, and presumably pro bass)

Pro guitar still freezes though. I think there may be an issue with the actual files, I don’t think it’s a problem with how I”m loading them.

                  I’ll double-check.

                  Edit:

Looks to be some event weirdness that shouldn’t be there since I imported these on a blank track. I’ll have to fix them up tomorrow when I get home from work (no time tonight, my desktop is off and I need to crash), but if you want to try fix them up yourself, import the .mids into REAPER, try the below suggestions (if applicable), re-export.

Boulevard of Broken Dreams – PART REAL_BASS has an erroneous PART KEYS_LH_ANIM track name event on it… don’t know how.

Buddy Holly – Doesn’t seem to have ANY bugged/dupe events. Can you confirm/deny the status of this one?

Carry On Wayward Son – Seems to have a duplicate REAL_KEYS_X track name event, but PG/PB look fine. Dupe track could be causing the .mid to freak out, but if it loads on X PKeys… idk.

Foreplay/Long Time – Bass/guitar work fine, but I noticed it seems to have a dupe KEYS_ANIM_RH track name event (as do the other keys charts I checked, for that matter), so I’m surprised keys works. This could just be a quirk of the REAPER install on this machine.

Highway Star – Has a blank HARM3 track that I didn’t think I’d included in the re-export, which can cause crashes (though only on harmonies). PG/PB look fine.

Train in Vain – Nothing out of the ordinary and no keys. If you have this song, can you test/confirm?

If songs aren’t loading, I’d need to call in an assist from someone who is pro guitar authoring proficient to check the charts and see if anything else jumps out because I have no idea er: PG/PB authoring (columbo has been ‘the guy’ for that). I did the same thing chart-wise that I did before, as well — keys songs.dta w/ his PG/PB upgrades.dta, so if it’s dying on song load that normally means busted upgrade .mid, incorrect song id, or incorrect .mid path in the .dta, and iirc none of those look to be wrong (I had to manually change a bunch so maybe I pissed one).

                  #434611

Unfortunately I have no idea how to do anything whatsoever in reaper, but I’ll double check each song that I upgraded:

Buddy Holly: I didn’t upgrade this one from the last pro guitar

Train in Vain: Don’t own the song

Highway Star: Sucessfully launched into pro keys, tried to switch to pro guitar during song, froze when I selected pro guitar

Move Along: pro guitar and bass work (this is not an important thing, but they both appear as tier 0, is that right? Doesn’t seem like that’s intentional)

Boulevard: Tried to launch into pro guitar from song menu, froze during loading animation

Carry On Wayward Son: Launched into pro keys just fine, tried to switch to pro bass during song, froze after I pressed A on pro bass like on highway star

Foreplay: Acted like highway star/carry on. i.e. pro guitar freezes on load/when changing to it mid song

I assume Boulevard’s issue is the duplicate name. Will fix that and upload shortly.

nfi for Highway Star, COWS, or FP/LT. May need a second set of eyes in case I’m just overlooking something obvious.

Edit: Made tweaks to each of the above four charts, uploading again. Shouldn’t need a full cache build — just rebuild the upgrade package and replace it. Ran them all through Nemo’s .mid cleaner as a precaution, only thing that jumped out was some stuff on COWS involving everything being a text event (oops).
