Happy birthday, Canada! Each year, July 1 marks the anniversary of modern-day Canada being properly formed out of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Province of Canada. Since that day almost 150 years ago, Canada has produced Tom Thomson, public healthcare, tons of zinc and uranium, and a million jokes about maple syrup and hockey, but today we celebrate Canada’s storied musical legacy with ten new songs for your Rock Band library!
It’s also a very special birthday for the Rock Band Harmonies Project, started and maintained by one of our favorite Canadians, espher! This release marks the two-year anniversary of RBHP fleshing out the back catalog of official DLC. In that time, various contributors have put together 825 upgrades for you to enjoy. Holy shit! Here’s to two years, espher & co., and that the rest of it doesn’t take as long as espher projects it will. This week’s big release includes Alice in Chains 01 & 02, the Taking Back Sunday pack, the Toby Keith pack, and “The Perfect Drug”, along with five(!) new Keys/Pro Keys charts! Thanks to Drihscol, espher, StackOverflow0x, sageamagoo, KyleJCrb, and non_zero for this week’s work. To download these upgrades, visit the RBHP website.

Why should you download these songs?

  • “Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm” – Almost certainly the most famous song by Crash Test Dummies, an iconic Canadian rock band. A great karaoke number, and a famous-song staple for anyone’s library.
  • “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff” – deadmau5 has exploded in popularity in recent years, and like “Mmm”, this is probably his most famous single. It peaked at #1 on the US Dance chart, and it’ll top the charts at your next party with its high-energy house beats!
  • “Steal My Sunshine” – Just sit back and let the ’90s wash over you. drummerockband says, “Awesome one hit wonder song that most people will probably recognize. Great duet between the brother and sister.”
  • “Kick It” – I’ll take “unlikely duets” for 400, Alex! Peaches and Iggy Pop trade banter in this piece of avant garde electroclash. (FtV fixes/additions to this song include reductions, a new tempo map, and vocals fixes.)
  • “Time Stand Still” – farottone keeps whittling down the list of big Rush songs we don’t already have with this single from Hold Your Fire. (FtV fixes/additions to this song include reductions, Pro Keys, new harmony vocals, venue animations, and touch-ups to all instruments.)
  • “Sucks to Be You” – Another biggest-single hit from the pop group Prozzäk. If you like groups like Aqua, this will be right up your alley!
  • “What I Wouldn’t Do” – drummerockband says, “Fun vocals and harmonies. Most Canadians have probably heard this song on the radio cause its catchy as hell. I also just recently saw Serena Ryder and took notes for charting this while she performed it, so that’s what I call commitment!”
  • “Pain for Pleasure” – The final track from the iconic pop-punk album All Killer, No Filler. Sum 41 pretended to be a metal band with this tongue-in-cheek song, and they were so good at it that their next album was much more metal-y. Pain for Pleasure, best band eever!
  • “Walking With a Ghost” – Tegan and Sara’s most famous song finally comes to C3 after almost being in our Halloween pack. drummerockband says, “If there’s one song Tegan and Sara fans want in Rock Band, it’s most likely this one. September 14th marks the 10th anniversary of ‘So Jealous’ album as well, so that’s cool. My favourite band returns!”
  • “Broken Vessels” – Man, check out that blistering guitar line! NL says, “A blast to play on everything and a very unique song musically. Great song to do VoxKeys on as well.”

See you next Friday!
