Wow awesome!! Clapton is God!
instead of spending time on constantly updating and reuploading packs, my efforts are going to go towards a packaging tool that will allow you to make your own pack at home, so I don’t have to, and you don’t have to constantly download 1GB+ files, just download the new song, rebuild pack at homeThat does sound most excellent; makes sense for both developer and users. Can’t wait to give it a try.
well, don’t I have timing? Just finished injecting into my flash drive. I understand your reasoning, but the convenience to the end-user with a big export file is pretty high. I’d very much appreciate an update to the big pack, perhaps one big update when you are satisfied with the final versions of the songs.
And no big deal on the scores. It was more curiosity than anything else. For me having a score only means I can sort as having played the song. Oh darn, I’ll just have to play again. Shucks. (grins)
This is somewhat off topic, but related. I had previously downloaded and played several Beatles songs. Following the instructions at http://www.keepitfishy.com/customscreat … htm#export, I will delete all my previous Beatles songs and replace them with the export.
So my question is should I expect my song scores and ratings to be retained? Not that it is a big deal at all, just curious what the expectations should be. If anyone is curious, I’ll post my end results tomorrow.
And BTW, I so totally am a massive fan of ALL the folks who contributed to the Beatles export project. Major win and brings to fruition something that I’ve desired since RB3 was released. Well done, everyone.
Well I’m new here also, so given the information you’ve provided, I’m only guessing at the issue. Forgive me for asking, but let’s first get the basics of the situation understood.
Question #1: Have you successfully unzipped the .zip or .rar files? If not, download a tool like WinRAR (I prefer 7zip) and unzip these files first. Usually there is a rb3con file within the compressed file. Do the extraction first before using Party Buffalo to inject them into the flash drive.
Question #2: if the files are already unzipped, can you provide a screen capture of the files and any error messages you are getting? A picture says a thousand words.
Basically anything ever done by Sam and Dave would be excellent. Lots of great party tune possibilities.
There is a lot from the 50’s that people would love in RB. “Johnny B. Goode” anyone?
Here are some others I have in mind:
“Dream Girl” – Stephen Bishop
“Shout” – Lloyd Williams (Otis Day and the Knights)
“Louie Louie” – The Kingsmen
“Tossin’ and Turnin'” – Bobby Lewis
“Wonderful World” – Sam Cooke
“Twistin’ the Night Away” – Sam Cooke
“Let’s Dance” – Chris Montez
“Who’s Sorry Now” – Connie Francis
“Hey Paula” – Paul and Paula
Move your cache from the hard drive to the USB stick. Don’t copy it – move it.When you keep your cache on the hard drive, the same one is used for customs/TU4 play and online/TU5 play. That gets messy fast.
I echo Nyx’s comment 100%… I had /exactly/ the same problem you are describing and moving the cache fixed it completely.
Online mode: USB stick contains song cache and Title Update #5
Customs mode: stick contains song cache, Title Update #4, and all custom songs
Works like a charm.
Mama Mia! Is it bad that I hate myself for loving this song?
My God, far more fun than I had anticipated. My wife absolutely loved it, and from about the first 3-4 bars she was smiling throughout. Another good family/party song.
Guitar – all fun, no comments, nothing to complain about.
Bass – organization seemed to fit the song very well. Actually enjoyed the bass part more than guitar. Well done.
Key – Fun song. My only criticism is that the section breakdowns need more specificity. I’m sure you’ll complete that before final publishing.
My wife wasn’t into singing it, and I my fragile male ego was far too fragile last night to sing it in front of my 14 year old son… so I’ll sing it today when the family is gone and I can enjoy. Oddly enough I cannot wait to sing it. I’m worried.
I have the weirdest desire to watch a Meryl Streep movie right now.

I’m by no means the midi expert like Nyx. (how does he pronounce that anyway?) My responses are more as a player and my impressions of the song’s playability and fun-factor. So I hope that my post here is helpful, but if you would like me to dig into a particular area in more depth, just ask. I’m happy to help in any way I can.
I played this through 3 times; guitar, bass, keys. My wife also played on keys and she intends to sing it tomorrow.
#1: no overdrive – just as you stated. no worries, but my wife as really confused how that could happen.
#2: feels like the guitar is over-rated. Much too simple and repetitive to be a 2-tier. But for its simplicity it was a lot of fun; you’ve got a great pattern going and it “feels” proper for the song. At the end of the song I wasn’t basking in my awesomeness as a rock god, but very enjoyable.
#3: Bass felt off. I think it was a combination of two things… one, its is extremely similar to guitar, and two I think there needed to be more sustains with the bass. Also I thought throughout the song there were going to be more fast-paced rhythm parts, but there were on a few. I think you know better as you’ve studied the song in more depth. Despite my very ‘generic’ criticism, the song was still a lot of fun on bass. Also probably not a 2-tier song either.
#4: As you stated, on Keys the outro is incomplete. My wife was particularly surprised. But up to outro c and outro d, she and I both really loved the charting. The saxophone parts felt proper, the solos were challenging. We both thought the points awarded for solo were kinda low, but not sure if you have control over that.
Overall this was a lot of fun and will undoubtedly be added to our party setlist. My inner 80’s teenager thanks you. I’m asking Casey Kasem to give you a “long distance dedication” for work well done!
Ok, my first post as a playtester, and I’m having to admit right off the bat I don’t know what the hell I’m doing.
I downloaded the song and there was a .RPP file (Reaper) and a .mp3. I am only just reading through the documentation for RBN and Reaper (and if you have trouble sleeping, either or both of these should solve that problem). I am not skilled enough yet to convert this into a RBA, to a con, and then play it in RB3.
Short version – could you post the actual rb3con file please? And if I missed something absolutely obvious, please feel free to be condescending and patronizing for the rest of the day.
Sensei
Sid – definitely agree. That’s one of my favs. Glad to know there a few other KWS fans out there.
Yes, my antiquated and incorrect vernacular should be updated. I mean, of course, USB stick. But ya’ll get da point, no?
Ok. I moved my “online” song cache file to the online Zip drive. That drive now contains both the song cache and TU5. When I started RB3 using my online Xbox live account, it “loaded new downloaded content” for about 15 mins.
I then turned off the Xbox (just being thorough) and logged back in with my Xbox live account. I verified my song cache was only on the “online” zip drive. This time when I started RB3, no loading of new content. Took about a minute to find all my DLC. Happiness.
Then I turned off the Xbox again (yes, being overly cautious) and put in my customs Zip drive and loaded my offline account. When starting RB3 this time it still loaded the 102 customs I have on the Zip drive. My scores, ratings, and play counts were gone. As a test, I reviewed one song and then exited RB3 and immediately restarted the game. As expected, no loading of new songs and my ratings were saved.
Now the true test… I turned off Xbox a third time and put together my online configuration. Result: everything loaded perfectly, no waiting. Going back to offline configuration: everything loaded perfectly.
Moral of this overly lengthy discourse in Failure Mode Effects and Analysis: Put the song cache on the Zip drive, dummy.
Ok – all great advice. It helps when you guys have all the relevant information. I’ll try this later today and will report back with progress. Many thanks for the help thus far.
