If you’d be willing to cover vocals and keys pitches, I’d be willing to put together Daft Punk is Playing at My House to round out a 3-pack with ya. It was the first song I practiced authoring against, would be nice to see how far I’ve come. Even with it being a pretty basic track. (And I found what might be accurate tabs so I might even Pro it out.)

I’d like to collaborate on They Might Be Giants songs, whether it’s each of us independently authoring songs for a pack or working together on individual songs. My weakest point is drums, but I’m an excellent author of vocals and guitar and do okay on bass and keys/PK. Unfortunately, I can’t say for sure when I’ll be able to start such a collab, but I wanted to put out feelers.

My personal priorities would be “Ana Ng”, “Doctor Worm” (or helping the FtV process along?), and maybe “Experimental Film”. I think for sanity’s sake we’d be better off doing a 3-, 4-, or 5-pack, but I can pitch in individual instruments for more if you want to do a megapack.

Collab would make it easier to go past just the stuff I have MIDI for and into Join Us/Nanobots. I’m eventually gonna megapack them, in that I’m gonna release a shitload of their stuff, but it’s more of gradual large packs (like, 6 tracks each) than one huge thing.

Hey, sorry if you’re busy, but I saw you were doing a song by Big Star, and I was actually considering a track pack involving them and an act they’re associated with. (The Posies, since both frontmen became honorary members of Big Star in the 90s, up until Alex Chilton’s death.) Would you be up for a colab?

          Less ‘busy’, more ‘lazy’.

What about a Posies and Friends set, The Posies/Big Star/The Minus 5? I believe Jon and Ken have been in The Minus 5 all the way through their history. I could probably whip up “

” outside of vocals pretty easy, if you’d be willing to take that part. (I have, like, no concept of absolute pitch.)

I’m back. Kinda. Bouncing between obligations and Moby right now.

As I get caught up, I’m gonna open up the Century of Jazz project for collabs and contributions, if there’s any Sinatra or Miles Davis or anything like that people were contemplating.

I have a Peaches en Regalia midi I need to examine before I decide if I’m officially going to commit to it.

For official content, are the pics in the song database on RockBand.com the same exact images used in the game? That could be a good centralized source to start with.

Of course, even with official HMX content, the album art has not always been consistent. Queens Of The Stone Age “Songs For The Deaf” album for example — I was annoyed to find that the album art for “Go With the Flow” (RB1 DLC) did not match that of “No One Knows” (RB3 disc).

I think the Black Tide songs were subtly different, too.

But RB.com does artwork by album, which is why there’s an Iron Maiden song with Steve Miller artwork (same album names). That does offer an ‘official’ artwork for the album, but there’s no guarantee of a match with the songs themselves in-game.

I strongly suggest staying away from Morissette. Strongly.

Why’s this? Is this a joke? I actually kind of like Alanis. :ohdear:

Or maybe he has A Plan? :o

Or you can do what I do, and work on stuff so esoteric there isn’t a chance of collision in the first place!

(I vote spreadsheet/database; Wikipedia artwork can sometimes be lower quality than Discogs or elsewhere. And of course, if an album already exists in RB, that artwork should take precedence, regardless of what’s on Wiki.)

Not every day you see song requests that reasonably cite law as a basis.

What about tv theme songs? I’ve seen a few requests for those over the years.

                        That & wrestlers’ entrance music.

I’m investigating one theme song, which may lead into a pack of themes if I find good candidates. (I like to do packs.)

Cool thing about the collective: you’re your own author. I’d advise to do what you like best, so you don’t burn out.

Well, I want to do all the things, that’s the problem. But based on this conversation I’ll try to cue things up so I’m mostly doing pack-type stuff.

I don’t think there’s a formal preference either way, but speaking personally, I would rather see a pack from an artist than three singles at a rate of one per month.

Agreed. How about theme/genre packs? The jazz pack in the OP is starting to become a pet project, but it’s also starting to splinter into three or four different genre packs (thinking about jazz century/swing revival/jazz royalty, just so far).

(I like discussing and planning way more than is healthy. :x)

I’ll be updating Cars and the Danza tracks tonight.

Question for peoples (mostly the C3 coordinators): is there any preference on packs vs. singles? Just about any song I can think to consider doing, I quickly think of some artist or theme pack to toss it in. And half of those, I can actually get material to make them work. I have no issue spacing out my releases into eclectic packs, vs. a more frequent stream of random singles. So I’m curious if people think I should stop looking at packs or start looking at more packs.

Here’s what Freesound has for “crash cymbal”. Should be a solid repository. “Rim shot”, “clap”, “tambourine”, all should be good tags to search there as well.
