I’ve actually had a hankering to play Whenever, Wherever in Rock Band for quite some time.

I’m pretty sure Cheat on the Church was RBN, not regular HMX DLC.

I remember reading the RBN docs back in the day when the censorship page was still around (if anyone has a copy of it, I’d like to know since C3 deleted it from their copy). Some songs can get away with some words based on use in the song, and they have the examples of “goddamn” in “Undone (The Sweater Song)” by Weezer and “This Ain’t A Scene, It’s an Arms Race” by Fall Out Boy. It was left in Undone because it was only used one, whereas in This Ain’t A Scene, it’s said several times and thus was cut. It also depends on what cut of the song Harmonix gets. If it’s a radio edit that censors out the words anyway (such as “Feel Good Inc.” by. Gorillaz), then that’s the label’s fault and not Harmonix’s. At the same time, if a song has a lot of content considered objectionable, then things that are considered unobjectionable in other songs may get censored. For example, “Police Truck” by Dead Kennedys has the words “shit” and “dick” within close proximity if each other, and both are censored. “Ass” is also in that part of the song, and gets censored as well, probably because it, as well as “shit” and “dick”, make up an area that is too obscene without censorship.

I can’t explain Guitar Hero’s censorship, though the censorship in Band Hero was due to the game trying to get an E10 rating with songs that would boost the rating.

One of the best story songs that I can think of comes from Canadian singer/songwriter Gordon Lightfoot with “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald”. Even though it sounds like it comes from the 70s, I wouldn’t call it very dated, as it is still a great song today and I’d like to see it in Rock Band, plus it tells the true story of a ship wreck that happened a few years before the song came out.

You have to upload it to a hosting site first.

Aw yeah, Wishmaster! I had an old guitar-only custom of the live version from Over the Hills and Far Away that I thought about updating, but now. I don’t have to!

Ooh, maybe with a certain Radiohead and John Lennon song!

*whoops, that was supposed to quote the previous post.

Or even a certain Ida Maria song.

Something tells me the parent clue might be “Helicopter” by Bloc Party. It wouldn’t be the first GHIII upgrade here.

Since yesterday. They’ve said they should be back up Friday.

At this point, it’s very unlikley we haven’t all gotten already our favourite song or artist in the game.

    I am the statistical anomaly.

I am as well. I have yet to work on my favorite band, and that’s because they’re a little lesser known, and probably would take a while to author. But I may do some of their songs one day.

    Ne Obliviscarus, am I correct?

I don’t care if people make money using a service, but by signing up to that service in the first place they agreed to comply with whatever changes that service would make.

Is the RB1 version a re-record? I think they just changed the ending and rebalanced the audio.

It was not, other wise it would be on everyone’s list ever. Ten Speed, on the other hand, did get a cover, apparently because the guitar stems were bleeding too much or something and they didn’t know how to fix that back in the day.

The lot of ye’s lack of knowledge about Daft Punk disturbs me, I guess I’ll have to educate you all with some homework down the line

    :haw:

Well, does that count though? That song was unknown until I charted that custom of it. Now everyone is going nuts for the song. But prior to my release, nobody had heard of it :aaaaa:

What? Are you being sarcastic? Cause I mean seriously… Led Zeppelin! We are talking about a Classic Rock LEGEND here! We are not talking about a simple everyday musical artist like Justin Beaver… We are talking about a legend who made some extremely famous and memorable songs, including Stairway to Heaven…

I didn’t even know about them until today when I saw this thread. Why they never hit the big time is beyond me. I looked up this one song, I think it’s called “Cashmere” or something, it’s pretty good. That’s all I’ve heard by them though, I’ll have to see if they’re on iTunes.

It is, but that doesn’t mean it still can’t be fixed. It’s just a little more difficult since you somehow need to mix the sound just as good, ideally.

Well I don’t have an Xbox, so I can’t rip the audio myself. I can still supply the Wii version of the song though, although the glitch is present in the DLC itself, not my console specifically, so you may not even need what I have. But if you did, how would I be able to tell what file the song is on my SD card? If I remember right, the file names are usually random numbers and letters.

Oh, I have all the files, so I know. Fixing it would be just like loading custom songs and that part should fortunately be easy.

That’s good. I wish I could help with the venture I started, but I’m afraid my involvement may end here. Good luck to anyone who can manage to get a fix.
