July 27, 2014 at 12:58 am #425562Anyone going to the Sonic movie when it comes out? And are you going in your homemade RB3 shirts to the movie?
(I have one but I never wear it)
Wait… Perfect idea! Sonic : Rock Band for the win!
Wait, there’s a Sonic movie being made? Wasn’t that made in the 90’s?
Yes, I am being silly. I feel I must explain that I am being silly so that I am not taken seriously. And hopefully this text gets read this time.
That was an OVA. Sega is cooperating with sony to make a live actionCGI hybrid with NYC playing Station Square and it has rumors that Liam Neeson is in it.

July 27, 2014 at 1:02 am #425566I still think the Mario live action movie was our time’s Citizen Kane, so wonder how a Sonic film will be like
Super Mario is cooler than Sonic

Sorry , missed that print.
If it does have Liam Neeson in it we have to see it. Roger Craig Smith ( Sonic ) also plays Chris Redfield.
That Mario movie was not that good in my opinion.
July 27, 2014 at 1:14 am #425569I personally don’t think the Sonic franchise would work in a big, Hollywood film. The series definitely has an anime/manga style lore, with many plots and relationships very loosely tied together to make a whole. Whenever that gets translated to a Hollywood film it just ends in disaster. Just look up Dragon Ball Evolution if you don’t believe me. I’d predict they’d either go the Transformers route and try to add things to appeal to adults, such as massive amounts of explosions, drug-related sideplots and sex jokes; or do what they did with Dragon Ball and essentially rewrite everything to simplify it to the point of severe lack of depth and alter other details to appeal to a “hip, young audience.”
Now that I’ve said everything I want to say on the matter, let’s get back to that Rock Band thing, eh?

Hold on one second , this film is going to be more dark and edgy. Plenty of gaming sites saying this.
And you say the series loosely ties together? SA2 was directly a sequel to SA1 and this plot eventually rolled into Sonic Heroes and Shadow The Hedgehog. After Shadow was over bought our characters out of the Adventure era and the events of ’06 take place (Why do people hate this game? I don’t get why.) It also bought my favorite character Silver and threw our heroes to places unheard of like apocalyptic city scapes , tropical jungles , dry deserts , and more. Then came Secret Rings and Unleashed , Which follows after the events of ’06 are erased , and follows the new world saga which The Black Knights plot continues (Taking place shortly after SU) And onward from there into Colors and Sonic Generations and currently ends at Sonic Lost World (Sonic Boom is not canon). The games that came out before adventure tell how Sonic became Modern Sonic which ends with Pocket Adventure on the Neo Geo. The handhelds after adventure are also canon to the console games with small exceptions (Mario and Sonic , etc.).
Now let’s get back to the RB4 discussion shall we? If anyone wants to continue the conversation make a thread about it.

Nice eh? I hope thay cuss like in Shadow The Hedgehog and the Jap release of SA2! Be wary though that when you probably try looking to see if this is true , very few sites give plenty of early evidence. Considering this film was announced in June it does not have a trailer yet.

July 27, 2014 at 2:04 am #425580Please get back on track. The topic is: NEW ROCK BAND GAME.
July 27, 2014 at 2:11 am #425581Please get back on track. The topic is: NEW ROCK BAND GAME.I was going to say what would go good in the soundtrack for the Sonic movie but he’s a C3 author so we have to follow his orders.
Still somethin’ by Anthrax or Crush 40 would be good for it but lets get back on topic Lyra (Start your own thread if you want to talk further on it)
Ok Nyx , going back on topic NOW!
July 27, 2014 at 2:21 am #425582(Start your own thread if you want to talk further on it)Just done that.
Anyway, for Rock Band 4 I really do hope the setlist focuses a little more on the hard rock/metal side of things, at least moreso than Rock Band 3. I think Rock Band 2 had the right balance of genres, with plenty of the heavier stuff (with plenty of variety within that selection) as well plenty of alt-rock, pop. and some of the indie stuff as well. I’d hope for a similar balance as Rock Band 2 within Rock Band 4.

This game is going to have to try to recapture a lapsed fan base. The music is going to have to be really approachable and well-known.

Sure, but the best way to go about it is a well-balanced setlist. Rock Band 2 had heavy stuff with Panic Attack, Peace Sells, Battery, Souls of Black; it also had songs by Devo, Interpol, Dinosaur Jr., Nirvana, Blondie, etc.
A well-balanced setlist with something everyone can enjoy (including the hardcore enthusiasts) will get the most sales. RB3 just delved too far into indie territory IMO.

Agreed, the RB2 setlist was brilliant, while RB3 is just kinda… there and sometimes people pick Bohemian Rhapsody or The Beautiful People, but that’s kinda it in my house at least.
