– If there were to be a successor to the RBN, don’t charge us $100 to author stuff. I get with the XNA program RBN was based around you had to pay that much so that you could submit material, but with XNA most likely not getting carried over to Xbox One, there would be no need for such a hefty charge for such a thing. I would prefer to be able to do it for free, and just give most of the earnings to Harmonix/Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo/whatever, but if there must be an up-front charge for it, make it cost a bit less than an arm and a leg.
To be honest, a hundred dollars for a developer’s license (which is what it is, not a Harmonix requirement) on any system is really fair. It’s up to the developer to make money off that.

I didn’t know that a $100 charge was a universal sort of thing. Still, as poor as I am I can barely afford food every month, so a $100 charge for anything is a bit extreme for me. Still, if that’s the way it’s gotta be done, guess I gotta deal with it. Doesn’t mean I will enjoy it.
July 15, 2014 at 5:45 pm #424710Allow venue selection BY DEFAULT. I know RB1 and RB2 had a cheat code you could put in, but I don’t want to have to enable a cheat and be unable to play online in order to pick a venue I like. On a side note, make the music video venues more like RB2 than RB3. I prefer the stylistic and artistic style of RB2’s music videos than the random, flashy images that don’t really match the mood of any song in RB3.This is my number one desire for a new Rock Band. I have no idea why it is not an option as it seems a no-brainer. Must be some under-the-hood thing, which hopefully the beefier hardware in the new console generation can overcome.
Also, MORE filters, sorting options, and setlist slots. Let us save all options not just a seemingly random assortment.
And I add my support for a more robust tour option with ‘role-playing’ elements like record contracts, gigs, etc.
July 16, 2014 at 2:07 am #424736In the next Rock Band, I would see:1) Improved Pro Drums: 1 snare with 4 toms, plus 5 cymbals: hi-hat, ride, crash, splash and a china.
Too few people played Rock Revolution so almost nobody got to see that mess that is a fretboard with a lot of drums gems. But I did…
I have rock revolution ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” /> and Power GIG ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> Good Times.
July 16, 2014 at 2:30 am #424737Add an option to set background sound level at menus!
July 16, 2014 at 3:31 am #424742AnonymousAnother Idea: Ability to unload (or “hide”) songs.
July 16, 2014 at 4:37 am #424748Just to be sure: get rid of the slap in the face called ALL INSTRUMENTS MODEI don’t mind the premise, it’s the execution I don’t like.
Exactly. I don’t give a rat’s ass if it’s not tied to a gamertag or whatever – but there’s no reason it shouldn’t still have a REAL SCORE.
A score, and actual volume settings for the mics, even if they have to be nested in the pause menu for the other players.
July 16, 2014 at 5:10 am #424749Any fun features that involve a website, such as the photo gallery or Bandmates figurines.
July 16, 2014 at 5:55 pm #424756My only real request would be a PC port. Not happening, I know, but what I would like the nonetheless. The rest of it, with different touring modes, etc, etc, etc, doesn’t matter to me. I just like to play the songs, with the rest of it being of little importance to me.
July 16, 2014 at 8:32 pm #424765I like bluesfan’s idea of using kinect but I would rather it be used to animate the avatars. I want that avatar to do what I am doing!
And support for ANY real instrument that has MIDI out or some sort of analog to midi converter. Why not allow some guy to play trumpet on a part? (and I wouldnt have to use the squire for bass.)
but to be fair, we got what we REALLY wanted already. The ability to add our own damn songs.
July 18, 2014 at 8:58 pm #424904I’ve said this before, but I don’t see it happening really, but if it did, it wouldn’t be until probably late 2015 at the earliest.
Anyways, what would I like to see… dual guitar support, backwards compatibility for DLC, and a hell of a lot more customization.
Customization/gameplay options I’d love to see if RB4 does actually happen:
Better character customization:
- More advanced sliders for facial features, and more sliders for individual parts
Better hair: more hair, and more options, for example, maybe length adjustment
More clothing options:
- Allow players to choose if jackets, button shirts, etc, will be open/closed, sleeves up/down, shirt underneath or no, and I’d be very happy if they allowed you to choose what shirt your character is wearing underneath (t-shirts and sleeveless shirts and so on). Also boots/shoes could have the option to have pants tucked in or over. So for female characters, knee high boots could be worn with pants over or tucked in.
Allow players to choose what arm bracelets and rings will be worn on.
I’d also love to see necklaces added (hint, hint, pick of destiny necklace).
General:
- A color wheel or a color selector that doesn’t require having to scroll individually through tons of preset colors
Instrument customization is an entire thing I could go on and on about forever. Basically, I’d really love to see more in depth guitar customization options, ability to customize knobs, pick ups, neck designs, fretboard designs, and so on. For drums, I’d really love to see the ability to totally customize and build a kit of your own (of course, the drums would all be in a preset position and couldn’t be moved for the sake of the animation team’s sanity). I’ve really had a desire to see the ability to choose if your kit has double kicks or single, and the option to have big drum racks, like the one Nick Menza had when he was with Megadeth. I think Shawn had one for a while too.
In terms of progression, I really thought the goal system was just totally lame and garbage in Rock Band 3. I’ve always far preferred playing to earn money and go to the in game store to “buy” and unlock items that way. I believe someone else brought up this point as well, and I fully agree. As a player who is fairly good at guitar and bass, great at vocals, and terrible at drums, I have to say that the goal system made things a lot more of a pain in the ass than I really would have liked in Rock Band 3.
Finally, I’d very much love to see the ability to pick the venue you play at.
As far as getting down to the actual nitty gritty gameplay wise (playing songs), aside of dual guitar support, this series is as good as it can get already if you ask me. I just really love customization, and I would love to see that stuff be at least considered.

Yeah, that always pissed me right off. It’s not like you’re cheating by playing with more people lol
July 18, 2014 at 9:34 pm #424912I just got a survey from harmonix regarding the future of rock band. Perhaps they are working on something.

July 19, 2014 at 2:42 am #424939To be honest… I don’t want a RB4.
Crazy I know , but like an improved port of RB3 and the ability to play customs too.
I remember the “A RB4 would probably kill off the website” thing that I still follow.
Oh and by the way…
AMERICA!
FUCK YEAH!
