Please use this thread to ask me questions about the database or otherwise discuss it. This new database is freshly available via the “Customs” link in your menu bar. Read the announcement before posting!
October 2, 2015 at 2:23 pm #456438The “View New Content” button is going to be incredible…one stop shopping.
The new customs database looks good so far. A couple of questions/suggestions:
1) Will users be able to “remove” customs that they’ve posted? Or once it’s there, it’s there forever (or until a db admin removes it)?
2) Going forward, there will be a bunch of new users (like myself) who might try to play around with building customs, but will need help; it would be extremely useful if we could post project files/.RPP *along* with the CONs to allow others to collaborate/finish off (in the case of partial instrument customs). I’m sure you guys agree that paving the way for full band, full difficulties customs would be a good thing for the community. Or some way of putting a flag on a custom that indicates “Hey…this custom is only missing vocals, and here’s the project files for you to finish it!”…and once the full-band version is posted, the partial instrument version could be removed.
Really looking forward to seeing how all of this plays out.
October 2, 2015 at 2:25 pm #456441Can you add a option to add more people that helped with the custom?

October 2, 2015 at 2:31 pm #456444It looks good so far, but there are no bass tiers listed.

Bass players…
FOILED AGAIN!
October 2, 2015 at 2:42 pm #456451I will absolutely be taking advantage of this.
EDIT: But very gently, at first.
Thanks for all your hard work.
EDIT: Past, present, and future.

What about customs which were originally posted by users who are now no longer active on the forums? If they don’t post their own customs…can *anybody* post anybody else’s customs in the new database? If so, is it first come, first served for posting other people’s stuff? Is pksage going to automagically handle these? Can/should only the actual author themselves post?

I think this is a super-great idea, and a very promising implementation…there’s just some process stuff that will have to be defined before we start Wild Westing it. I’m sure that pksage doesn’t want to get a barrage of PMs by people looking to edit/remove spurious additions to the new db.
October 2, 2015 at 3:18 pm #456459is this for the c3 weekly releases or is this the forum releases or is it both of these together and also how do you search for a song/artist

So agree! This will make catching up with HMX leaks/press releases much much easier!
October 2, 2015 at 3:54 pm #4564661) Pksage has slept I think 2 hours today. If *I* sleep like 6 hours I go on a rampage, I can imagine only 2. For that reason please before posting suggestions understand that Sunday afternon there was NOTHING. Let the guy get some rest. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
2) It’s probably very hard to find something we haven’t thought about, so don’t assume there’s some snag that will bring the system down. In example, we already know that somehow we will have to go through the various posts to get all songs, and we will definitely ask for help. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
Thanks. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>

Dang, Farottone. It’s like you read my mind. Here was what I was going to say:
“I’m assuming that the adding of artists will be an ongoing thing, as StackOverflow0x’s last month release of Cage the Elephant customs isn’t on there yet.”
How’d you read my mind?
October 2, 2015 at 4:03 pm #456468espher, Farottone and the rest, y’all rock. And with that little sleep, I imagine y’all are rocking. Remember, floor is down, ceiling is up. Thanks for everything!
