PS3 Freeze while loading customs.

      Hello,

       

      i’ve been fighing with my ps3 for a few days now, i really don’t know what to do anymore.

      I’ve had around 420 customs that worked well on my console, and i haven’t noticed any problems with it. Recently, i tried to add new 300 song (all from c3 Database) but they just give my console a solid freeze when loading (separately, without previous 420).

      I’ve split those 300 songs into the 3 packs of 100 songs each, to check if it’s some bad song’s fault. When loading separately, they all work without any trouble. The only problem is whole pack of 720 songs or whole pack of the new 300.

      I’ve tried different kinds of encrypting, region changing, upload them through FTP, deleting RB3 save, but it did not changed anything, i select “Choose Song” and that’s it, controllers are not responding to anything, absolute freeze.

       

      I really don’t know what else i can do to make it work, and i’ve wasted a lot of time for converting, puting on usb stick and from usb to ps3 etc etc.

       

      Any suggestions how can i solve this problem ? :confused: :confused: :confused:

      There is at least one song that makes the PS3 freeze in your 300 songs pack. I’d suggest to cut your song pack in half and try each half, then do the same with the one that freezes, rinse and repeat until you find the problematic song and remove it.

        As i said, i’ve done it like that, cutted 300 songs on 3×100 packs, and saperately they work fine. My newest idea was to ‘cut’ .DTA file on 2 separate files and change them inside console files. So now i have one ‘songs’ folder, but i change dta file in order to have songs lettered A-M, and M-Z. Although, both .dta files have almost the same number of songs, A-M is working, M-Z is not. I am so confused right now… I’ll try to divide the M-Z into smaller .dta and see what happens.

        i keep my packs to 50 ..more you add to the pack better chance a song conflict id.

        Yea, as chaosjaye says, conflicting smallname might be the problem. The small name is used for the folder name, file name and dta identification (it’s usually the first value in a dta entry).

        song_id could also be conflicting, this is the song_id value in the dta file. This is used to identify the song in-game (playing online, save file, leaderboards, etc).

         

        Both of these must be unique.

          So, i’ve finally make it to work. I did a new encryption of songs ( Rebuiler 10sec, which i recommend to always use when converting songs for ps3 ). From exported .dta file i made multiple ones using “Quick Pack Editor” that way, i could try various combinations and see what song/first letter of artist name is breaking my console. After many many tries, i’ve figured that i have 2 broken songs on letter P, i’m not sure now, but i think it was some Pink Floyd’s Songs.

          Removed that using “Quick Pack Editor’ and finally i can see and play nearly 800 songs on my ps3.

          gj mason..keep your packs smaller youll find this prob less and less..but super glad you fixed it bro

          Just for information, the encryption only affects the MIDI file, and that is only loaded when you finished entering difficulty and instruments for all players after choosing a song.

          I’d suggest only messing with that if you get the “Song Skipping…” popup when trying to load a song.

          Hi Mason, I’m having exactly the same problem

           

          Was playing with around 500 customs without any problem. After I added another 300 and everytime I start the game it freezes.

          I deleted the latest 300 and even went ahead of deleted all of my RB3 cache. Downloaded my DLC and then tried to just add 20 customs (20 from the 1st batch of 500 that I knew worked without issues). Still my PS3 freezes when loading the songs.

           

          I’ve read all you wrote, but I’m not as savy when using C3Tools. You mentioned recommending using a rebuilder everytime I convert CON songs to ps3? I-ve never used that. Also, you mendioned doing packs… but I was under the impresion that PS3 didn read packs, that I had to de-pack the CONS and then convert each song to PS3 format.

           

          Also, you mention that you found 2 broken songs. what do you mean?

          I found that I had some duplicates (dowloaded DLC and customs with the same name); I went ahead and deleted the custom duplicates, both the file inside de HMX0756 and the portion in the songs.dta file, but still my ps3 freezes even when loading just 1 custom that worked before!!

            Rebuilder is an option in c3contools, it is set for 5seconds by default but i use 10sec option.

             

            By pack i meant some number of Cons converted to ps3, not packs for ps3 in 1 file. You cant do this on ps3.

             

            I’ve spend many many hours figuring out why the console was freezing and as i said it was caused by 2 songs which even added separately as only customs were freezing console.

             

            I only had once this problem, in many other times adding customs i havent had problems.

             

            I think the only good solution for it is to add songs to .dta by 10-20 and then if something is wrong with specific song, you will waste less time figuring out what song it is.

             

            I did it by adding 10 songs per load, if it froze console, ive added 2x 5 of the 10 songs which gave me freeze on 5, then 3 + 2 etc.

             

            It is a time consumer, no doubt about that.

              Also, it is not a problem usually if you have duplicated songa in .dta, they’re just not showing on list.

                If the game freezes even before showing the songs list, there is definitely a problem in the DTA file. The only time it happened to me it was because a song had two IDs (entirely my fault, me and my bad habit of manually editing the DTA file and not being careful with copy-pasting).

                If you only have 1 custom in your DTA, just post it here and it should be easy to see if anything’s wrong with it.

                I would rather suggest to always use Type 3 encryption instead of Rebuilder (Type 2), as I never had a problem with it, but that’s a separate matter.

                 

                But anyway, I think it would be good if you let us know which 2 customs gave you problems… at least I have a long list of Pink Floyd songs still to add and it would be useful to know in advance if they will freeze <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
