Hi.

I’ve gotten around getting familiar with how we do RB3 charting for the most part, but I have an issue; When I tested Pro Guitar/Bass, the game freeze upon loading it. It works fine with Pro àDrums, and 5 button instruments. There cannot be conflict with upgrades or so, this song (AFAIK) was never released for RB3 (Underneath the Rotting Pizza, FFVII OST). If you need any files to look at feel free to ask.

I should mention that for speed purposes (and the fact that I’m mostly used to it) I used EoF to chart, then loaded up the C3 template in REAPER and copied the notes into those midi tracks, then added the necessary things (Events, lower difficulties, etc using CAT).

Was it compiled using Magma C3? With no errors?

      #432042

Yes, using Magma C3. No Errors (Had some, fixed them, then it compiled fine).

EDIT: Yeah, I found the problem… looks like the tracks were muted before exporting the midi file *facepalm*.

Anyways, now I got a shiload of [No Left Hand position at gem x] and [No root note set for gem y]… There’s not much documentation for Pro Guitar… anyone knows which notes they are? It’s not written in C3’s template either.

EDIT2: Found documentation on it, and not sure if those not are the Root Notes, not specified (4 to 15), and left hand position should be 108, but there’s more than one position possible, so I assume I use velocity the same way you chart the notes? All of this is not clear … I hope there’s some pro guitar charters around XD

I also found a note ”Arpeggio marker” but nothing to actually set the chord? How does that work? :

Unfortunately there are very few people here that will be able to help you with pro guitar/bass authoring, and I’m not one of them

That’s sad to hear . Hopefully someone will be able to answer to those questions, I tried to find more docs.. but I think I have everything that hasd been released, considering RBN doesn’t have those docs obviously…

On another note I’ve ran into strange problems when trying to add keys to it; Magma C3 is saying that the OD for keys and pro keys don’t coincide but they do… in fact I copy pasted them, and tried it several times, even manually… Magma still whines about it. Is there something I don’t know about that? I’m at work now but if you need error log, or the midi file I can provide a bit later.

People tend to say Magma is always giving them wrong errors. 99% of the time Magma is right ;-) look carefully at the error and try to fix it. If you still can’t post the midi file.

The root note err can be fixed in EOF,

            Track> Rocksmith> Fret Hand Positions> List

            Delete All

            Generate

Also after moving the mid back to reaper, double check the track names. EOF sometimes likes to add a second one that says tempo map. It would cause my game to freeze when I forget to check that.

In all, I enjoy using EOF.

            #432096

Nemo: So I retried to fix, still doesn’t work, however It also gives me this error so maybe it has something to do with it?

            ERROR: MIDI Compiler: d:/customs/rock band-phase shift/underneath the rotting pizza/underneath.mid (PART REAL_KEYS_X): File: e:prjrbnsystemsrcbeatmatchSongParser.cpp Line: 2394 Error: mKeyboardRangeSecondPitch == -1

This means you didn’t author Pro Keys but left the track in the MIDI – you must mute unauthored tracks in REAPER before exporting

Yes, Pro Keys is enabled is Magma, and they weren’t muted when I exported the MIDI.

            EDIT: MIDI file http://www.mediafire.com/download/iolmr … rneath.mid

Jerry: Oh nice! As a Rocksmith charter I didn’t know Rocksmith’s options would actually change something in the generated MIDI, thought they were only used in XML exports. Thanks for the info

EOF offers to store an imported MIDI file’s tempo map into the project if it has tempo changes that do not occur on beat markers (something it doesn’t natively support). That track shouldn’t be exporting to MIDI with such a name though, if you have an EOF project file that creates that track when you save it, could you send it to me for testing? Does this happen in the latest release candidate version?

Very few of the Rocksmith features apply to Rock Band 3, but there may be the odd one or two things like fret hand positions, which are very prominent in Rocksmith compared to Rock Band.

Alright, I found the thing and fixed it. It’s compiling . Thanks guys!

(If you wondered: The notes for the range in pro keys that the C3 templates has already at the start had to be removed… another *facepalm)

I put those in there because it’s easy to screw up and use one of the black note ones instead. Since it made you smack your face, maybe it’d be better if I just used the first one?

I don’t know for other people, but yeah, for me just that made me facepalm. If it’s OK with most people you should let it there, now I know, I can delete them, it’s not a really big deal.
