Hey there rockers, it’s time to use your brains. There are four hints, I think they can all be answered this time. We can’t wait to add more names to the Hints Hall of Fame.

It is Valentine’s Day on Saturday, so instead of little shiny cardboard pieces with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on them or chalky little hearts that say be my valentine, we are placing these songs in your little milk carton mailboxes:

            Hint to song# 1

The first song is by a Grammy nominated and MTV Music Awards Best New Artist winner. She is an actress, singer, model and spokesperson. I had no idea this song was a cover.

            Hint to song #2

This song was the highest charting single for this English Band. It would have been number 1 in the UK if it wasn’t for the crowd. The main guitar hook was the product of guitarist showing off to his girlfriend. It worked — they got married. The only male vocalist in this release.

            Hint to song #3

This #1 hit was the 4th of 6 singles from this female vocalist’s world wide smash album. This song got up close and personal with this artist and paid off triple platinum.

            Hint to song #4

This song was a demo by a band that went on to be quite successful under a different name, suggested by Michael Stipe. I heard this song first in an 80’s raunchfest movie with characters named Pondo, Studly and Elbow. The female vocalist of this band has also recorded as a solo artist, in other bands, and contributed music to movies and TV as well.

Thank you for all the kindness. We are thrilled you are liking the new thread, songs, and hints. There is more coming your way soon. Check back Saturday for your answers.

            My guess for #1:

Alicia Keys – How Come You Don’t Call Me? (by Prince)

            #438084

Alicia Keys – Don’t Give Up?

            #438093

            #4: Dream 6 – Rain

I really wanna be in the hall of fame ;-)

            #438098

            #2: Marillion – Kayleigh

Can anyone explain what unpitched vocals are please?

Are they basically like talkie vocals?

Yes, that is what they are.
