At least that is what I am thinking happened…

I am going off the assumption of a couple songs that should have been updated with keys (Don’t Stop Believing) and a FOB song I cant recall off the top of my head…

Anyways, it worked flawlessly when I first did it, but now seemingly since I added more custom songs, the HP update seems to have removed itself….I now only have 300 some songs out of over 1100 that have keys (only noticed it because someone came over to play Keys on Sat)

Has this happened to anyone else before?

Make sure you’re including the keys upgrades in the folders fed to the packager. If you didn’t copy-paste them over the top of the vanilla harmony parts they certainly could ‘revert’. If you haven’t redone your packages or intentionally rebuild your cache, the only thing I can think of is that there is another song cache somewhere on the drives you’re feeding the game that is causing a conflict.

So if I completely delete the song cache would it rebuild WITH the RBHP harmonies and keys or will I have to start the HP process over again with removing the HD and all of that?

I don’t honestly know how it happened because on Wed I was playing songs post my RBHP implementation and then when I added customs on Sat before my RB party they are all gone and reverted back to the original format.

If you blew up the cache, yeah, you would need to go through the process again.

OK, so I guess my next question is this….

If I keep adding customs, how do I go about doing so in the way that I wouldn’t have to repeat from the beginning for RBHP stuff?

It just seems incredibly tedious if I have to repeat that whole process every time I want to add customs.

Adding new customs shouldn’t blow up the RBHP bits you already have. The cache is updated with the new songs, not deleted and rebuilt. That’s assuming you’re on the XBox 360.

Have you searched to see if there is another cache file hiding on any of your attached storage devices?

Also, this is all assuming you’re on the XBox 360. In case that’s a bad assumption, what console are you on?

          Yes I am on 360.

Only have 1 flash drive and it houses my TU4, song cache, and HP file.

Do you have a 360 hard drive? There might be a cache file lurking on that.

Yes I do, and would/could it be lurking somewhere besides the RB3 section of the HD that its pulling from?

Otherwise it makes no sense to me why it did what it did….because the first thing I did before I put in the HP was get rid of all the things I knew I didnt want lurking around.

I can certainly check when I get home, but as far as I know, the only song cache is that on my flash drive.

Adding customs shouldn’t cause problems. I’ve done it before when testing some customs out. I can’t say why it would have happened here – I can only speculate. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>

Thanks….I’ll keep you posted on what happens when I try everything out again…

It’ll be late this evening, but I imagine I’ll need to add the customs to the HD and then repeat all the steps from 1 for the HP stuff…

I am just guessing that should get me back on track…

Also, once I do that, should I be housing the cache on the flash stick or in the HD or what?

Just want to make sure I can capably recreate the steps you guys use as to not muck this up again.

I keep my cache on my USB stick with the RBHP upgrade package.

Duly noted….and I am guessing never ever ever delete it?

Here’s something I just considered…should it affect anything if I moved the cache and HP file to my HD even if I only did it for a minute and never loaded the game with it like that?

Reason I ask, one time I DL’d a mass quantity of customs and its SO much easier to use the ‘move all’ function that I now recall moving everything over to the HD, but then moving the song cache, TU4, and RBHP file back to the flash drive….

Could that be the issue (doesnt seem like it to me, but I confess, I dont know as much about the 360 file structure and how everything works in comparison to a PC)

It’s possible – I’ve had people report issues if, like, the TU on the storage device where the cache is located doesn’t match, but I’ve had people tell me they’ve moved the cache without any problems. There are far too many configuration permutations for me to reliable and exhaustively test them to isolate all variables. I’ve already spent well in excess of 1,500 hours on this project as is.

                  #454372

So I added some more customs from the C3 crew (awesome as usual) and retraced HP from the beginning and am good for now….

So I would guess it had something to do with moving the files back and forth, even though I never went in and out of the game….so I’ll just take the long way and not do that again.
