Well yeah it all loads, i found a song which wasnt workin and i deleted that one. That it seemed like it worked, 110 Songs fine, than i added more now i get a black screen. im so confused…
August 3, 2020 at 5:53 pm #513269Keep at it – process of eliminating a bad song. Once you get a good library going, it’s worth it…thanks to all of the authors and developer types out there to whom I owe a lot of entertainment hours…

Is it worth it on PS3? Or am I polishing a tin can?
August 12, 2020 at 7:44 pm #513432It’s XML-ish, or maybe more accurately, JSON-ish, but it’s not really either one. Like Alternity said, it’s its own thing, but it does have a syntax that someone could write a parser for if they were so inclined. Like XML and JSON, DTA files are built on nested key-value sets, but sometimes a given set of parentheses doesn’t hold a key and its values, but rather a collection of values for a previously defined key. There’s no way to know without the context of the surrounding file, which is what makes DTA its own special beast.
Having said that, the simplest parser could at least make sure every opening parenthesis has a closing partner, and that could be enough to find what is breaking your customs.
I think I could build a dta validator, but it’ll be terminal-only, built with Python and PyParsing. If anybody knows which sections are required (I would guess almost everything?) and which are optional (solos/comments?), please let me know!
August 28, 2020 at 1:38 am #513815So I’m playing on version 1.05 but when playing pro drums if there are double pedal sections game only picks up cymbal hits and bass drums not snare or tom hits. so instant fail on any 2x bass song.
August 28, 2020 at 1:16 pm #513827That is not a console specific problem.
Assuming you are using an electronic drum kit, make sure your drum brain has a kit with the notes setup for using the MIDI Pro Adapter.

A couple of months ago they released a new hack called HEN which allows to run homebrew software on every model of PS3, even the previously considered ‘unhackable’ superslims.
I think the thread is a bit misleading nowadays because a newcomer obviously starts reading at the first post which is outdated, but only the original poster can change that.
I was planning to post a thread with my own experience using HEN, if you can wait another week or so.
In the meantime just make sure you do NOT UPDATE your PS3 beyond 4.84 if a newer firmware comes out.
Did you ever post about this I’m trying to do the same thing I have hen now in 2020 so is there a place I can go to get a better understanding on how to import customs into PS3 from there?

Man I am going to be real with you, just go with an xbox 360, it saved me about 1000x times the headache. I’m surprised I didn’t get a knock form the neighbors about all my throwing pillows, and swearing about crashing and songs not working. Here are some of my recommendations.
1. You can buy an Xbox for like $25-50, and the non madcatz (has to be that) game for like $5-15, then get a flash drive (with cord cause you are going to be plugging it into the front – you need to do this b/c otherwise it raeds the back as a n extra mic and messes up your score. So: mic front, drive front, mic back US:cool: and convert to fat32 $10-20 (mine is 500gb and have around 2899 songs into about 10 packs – and to keep those under 100gb per pack or under 300 songs. There is more info about this on this webpage –YOU WANT TO DO THIS as it cuts loading time from 15min to around 15 sec, and every time it crashes that shit pisses up you real ‘ducking quick. Especially when you are drunk and serenading your special friend for getting them all riled up, for late night horizontal mambo later. Yes, thank you Dean Martin). The only minus is that with the xbox you have to use a game usb mic, I use a rock band 4, and a logitech and have to say the RB4 is better. Which sucks B/C you could use real mics (is usb a sure m68 and a stage mic) with a 3prong to usb adaptor for the ps3, sounded amazing. You gotta use the RB con tools app from this site, and just play with it, but your bread and butter is using the insane c3 con tools, and Rb to USB, and pack and quick pack creator. That’s it, just the time saved from converting and all that mess is worth it itself.
2. (personal opinion here) Now since you have a ps3 you should hack it to run CFW cex or DEX with rubug (go real and not light this will save you time later), it’s very scary so follow ever step like crazy, and you can find instructions on YouTube from a guy who wears a cartoon funny hat (I don’t think I can post the exact where but searching for ps3 cex and the description should work very well), from there use the .pkg file(your bread and butter for games and cool stuff) to load psn patch and sen enabler (use both to get online ok without ban). You can then find some sites that you can download the .pkg files for ANY game, and play them after loading (I just finished playing the shit out of Metal Gear 5 with cheats enabled cause I just wanted to collect crap ” data-emoticon=”” src=”
/emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” title=”” /> ), after also using psn patch to load the .rap file form where it is on your drive or usb, that’s license your licence. This shit is going to suck b/c the guys who make this stuff absolutely refuse to write any real instructions, or anything that is a straight “do this” 1-50step instruction. It’s like a badge of pride that to punish real people with jobs and just want to play on easy street and not spend hours on this stuff, just frustrating, throw the dudes some $$ why you are at it because they put in a ton of work. Then download every trivia game you can find, puzzle fighter, street fighter, tekken and all the hot shots golf games, and have a blast, and play with friends. *NOTE: you can play all the singstar games this way (I have every game from ps2 and up – you’ll be download the ps2 .iso and mount with modman or CCM also considering that you just can’t buy some of these games its what you gotta do plus i already game so much money to games that with a system that is dead, and makers have 0 intent to change or make HD you can whatever – turkish dance party is fun BTW!), you can’t mount ps2 games on the singstar app ps3 game, so your best bet is to just buy the ps2 singstar mics since they work with everything and go thru the mounted singstar ps2 game on ps3. Damn I wish I just did that at the start. Cause singstar will not work with any other mic (glitchy), and I have gone thru $200 for mics that will not work with everything. End note* PUZZZLE FIGHTER IS HANDS DOWN THE GREATEST PARTENER GAME EVER FOR BS’ING AND MAKING DINNER BETS, AND DRINK BETS. PERIOD.
What the world needs now...is more disco. And, let's ban percussion sections, does anyone like them? NO! Having a spot to enjoy the song, and more importantly, go drab a refill on your drink is wayyy better, without grunting into your mic (had to find the hard way main button works insanely better - not in manual). Plus, stop it with the crazy intense background, you can't read the lyrics. You know who you are, stop giving the kids seizures. not cool. Also, the Novelty genre should be abolished, and disco

IIRC this means you’ve converted without merging. There might be an option in C3 Tools to merge after converting, otherwise just turn on “merge while converting” and push the convert button again.
October 17, 2020 at 10:56 pm #514661Hy,
i hope someone can help me with these becouse everywhere i search is a dead end. I downloaded some songs and just did all the steps from the tutorial (not the new one that links leads nowhere) and put 4 of them as test in it. When i start RB3 and look in my Songlist i can find these songs and the Music plays but when i try to play them it says ” unable to load skipping”.
So for the reason that i didnt find all the tools for the PAL Tutorial (and i couldn’t complet it like it was writen there) i got myself the US Version of RB3 and used the Linkin Park Pack instead of the free pack (the LP songs working). Can someone tell me what im doing wrong ?

In the Merged Songs folder, you also need to make sure you have a blank file in notepad saved named songs.dta (make sure to save under all formats). DW I made the same mistake first time also
If you use Pro Keys 2 Hands, you a cheater, just saying

The “skipping” message typically indicates an error in the MIDI file. You probably selected NTSC instead of PAL when converting. The option is in one of menus of the PS3 Converter.
