Hello experienced authors!
My name is Clint and I love Rock Band!
I started charting songs back in August, 2013, so I am still a newbie. Despite this, TrojanNemo offered to give me a chance to join the team to see if I can hack it. I’ve been putting out semi-regular customs through the forums here at C3 and I think I’ve been getting progressively better. I plan on stepping up my game now that I am trying to put out customs through C3 as an “author”.
My favorite genre of music is metal. Not the newer semi-mainstream stuff like Avenged Sevenfold… I love classic 80’s metal and epic European power/speed metal. My song charting has not reflected this so much as it is not too popular with the masses or at the Rock Band gatherings that I host or participate in.
I also love classic and hard rock from the 70’s & 80’s, which is where most of the songs I chart will probably belong. Unlike most people, I do not really have a set list of songs or bands that I want to author and am not working off of a list. Usually I’ll hear a song, get inspired and just start charting. I will say that among the artists that have yet to appear in Rock Band that I’d definitely like to help bring in would be The Moody Blues and Neil Diamond (yeah, I like Neil Diamond, you got a problem with that?).
I think what the authoring team at C3 has been doing in 2013 has been nothing short of amazing. The productivity and creativity has been off the charts. I can’t wait to contribute and would relish an opportunity to contribute to a theme week and collaborate with other authors.
Lastly, I have a project that I started working on before I had any clue that I’d been invited to join C3. TrojanNemo suggested that I just release it through my thread in the “Other Customs Discussion” thread, but the song is pretty important to me and is a favorite song from my youth onward and I’d like it to be my first custom released through C3. It is “I’m Your Captain (Closer to Home)” by Grand Funk Railroad.
Would it be possible for me to submit this song for testing knowing that the majority of the song was authored without C3 authoring in mind? I think it has turned out pretty well so far (I just need to reduce drums and make the venue) and would really appreciate the feedback that only you experienced people can provide.
