I was wondering about that too.

Sweet, Golden Earring and They Might Be Giants. Thank you!

I’m not exactly clear on why you would edit out/down solos in Twilight Zone.

Since I’m the guy that did it… reasons:

      1) The custom was originally for the enjoyment of me and the missus. All editing decisions were made to accommodate our tastes. It was only later that I decided that I may as well share it with C3.

      2) 8 minutes is too long for a RB song in “polite company”, I’d say. You can fit two other songs in that space, typically. Unless you’re in a crowd of SeriousRockBandPlayers, particularly a group that has to trade off instruments with others, it kills the momentum of a party, and most novice players don’t have that sort of endurance. (read: I Catered To Casuals)

      3) Album version ends in a fade-out. I refuse to make a custom that ends in a fadeout. So one of those solos would be clipped anyway.

      4) There’s a difference between “guitar solo” and “guitar noodling”. Much of the middle “solo” was noodling. To that end, I cut it at the exact same point as the band’s producers did for the radio edit. I commend their decision.

      5) Even edited, the guitar still has no lack of spotlight time. Aren’t two solos enough? I’m more worried about having a band member (vox, in this case) having to completely sit out for 3+ minutes. (again: Catering To Casuals)

      6) You and anyone else are still free to do your own custom version.

So that’s why it was edited down. But one may as well ask, “Why didn’t you just use the Radio Edit, since that’s the version everyone is familiar with?” /shrug/ Could’ve, but I figured the ideal RB version was somewhere between the two.

Opinions will naturally vary in both directions, but I hope that the majority of people will still enjoy it as presented.

Mileage will vary, but this sounds eminently reasonable to me.

For example, I LOVED the “inbetweener” version of Death Cab’s “I Will Possess Your Heart.” It was, as you say, long enough to enjoy but short enough for people to want to finish.

Greetings from MTAC! I had the pleasure of announcing to a packed room that this LK pack was a thing, and plugged C3. The room exploded when I announced King of Rhymes. I did make sure to explain what C3/customs are so they didn’t confuse it with official DLC. Didn’t get to play video though, there was no computer in the room.

I caught up with LK after the panel and he was kind enough to record this:

I just wanted to say thanks so so much for The Last Baron. That’s a song I always dreamed to play in RockBand but figured it realistically wouldn’t ever make it, so I’m very satisfied by this release!

I’ve been meaning to say this Bearz but thank you so much for doing The Last Baron by Mastodon. It has to be the most enjoyable song on drums I’ve experienced. Great job and here’s to many more Mastodon tunes :excited:
