Holy moley! Ranking among our most ambitious album endeavors ever, this week we’ve got the entirety of Dream Theater’s landmark prog album Scenes from a Memory, a concept album sequel to a song from Images and WordsAnd it’s all multitracks! If those 77 minutes of prog goodness aren’t enough, try out the epic “Octavarium”, one of the longest RB releases ever. Dream Theater has long been a Rock Band fan favorite, and we’re super stoked to bring you these tracks. Stretch out your fingers / kick pedal leg(s) / soul, and strap yourself in for the ride of your life. Or, if that’s not your thing, try out a modern rock hit by modern rock icons The Black Keys.
Author comments for this week’s songs:
• Scenes from a Memory – mazegeek says:

Scenes from a Memory is widely regarded as some of Dream Theater’s best work, and is my personal favorite album from them. This was quite a learning experience for me to chart; besides the few songs I released some time ago for C3, this is my first major project. This is the second full Dream Theater album to be released (the first being Images and Words from farottone). You can be assured that these charts are accurate; I put over 350 hours of work into this album and have thoroughly tested these charts.
There’s an added bonus: multitracks! I think multitracks are particularly useful in this case because of many tough Dream Theater sections that are good for practice mode, and simply for the realism of hitting/missing notes.
There’s a bonus to this release. This album was actually delayed two weeks due to unexpected file-loading time conflicts. So I decided, I’ll make that up with a little something extra. Octavarium. C3’s longest song, and widely regarded as Dream Theater’s most impressive feat. It’s quite a song that has many cool conceptual themes and musical passages. If you like progressive music and you don’t know about this song, I can assure you’ll enjoy it.
I do have some people to thank for helping me out with this. Lowlander2 created the very awesome venues (due to personal events I had to postpone it this week, but they are in development – Lowlander) and answered my many questions about creating customs. He also contributed the vocal chart for “Strange Deja Vu.” GHFreak46 contributed the guitar and bass parts to “Through Her Eyes.” Finally, I’d like to thank Pikachu Bzzz and Hobo111 for helping me with the playtesting/editing process.
One more note – I am in the process of getting this album to work as one entire 76-minute mega song in Rock Band. I’ve payed it myself, so it does work, but not consistently. So for now, this album-song will go in the Other Customs thread, and may be released officially when it is thoroughly tested.

As mazegeek mentioned, we’ve previously released Images and Words, home of the aforementioned Metropolis prequel, in its entirety. Yeah, man. Put that in your pipe alongside the three disc/DLC songs (“Constant Motion”, “Panic Attack”, “On the Backs of Angels”) and smoke all 23 of ’em! Well, don’t actually do that. It’s probably bad for you. (Hit our song database to download all of these tracks.)

  1. Oddly enough, Metropolis Part 2 is NOT one of my all-time favorite DT albums (that goes to Awake and Images and Words). But it’s still nice to see it all fully charted. The Black Keys track is also great, and gives me hope that Little Black Submarines would also be charted someday.
