so… anyone know how to log in? using the same as what I log in with here doesn’t work and to make thing worse none of my own customs seem to be on the database anymore which kind of sucks 😕

Sounded quite different as it was a 10 year newer rerecording. Maybe I should have written 2020 but the info was there in the description and the album title. Plus Knives and Pens is still up and was the same deal so that just confused me. Absolutely no reason for it, but I’ve contacted an admin. Just waiting in reply.

For customs of songs released as official content, they’re only allowed if the official version of a song is a cover, live or re-recorded version of the song.

For example, the DLCs for “My Sharona” and “Cherry Bomb” use covers instead of the original recordings (probably due to licensing restrictions or poor quality master tracks at the time), so you are allowed to make a custom of the real version of the songs. The real version customs should have an “(Original Version)” amendment in the database so people know which is which.

Customs for songs that used a live version instead of the studio version are allowed as well. No amendment needed for the studio custom since the official live DLC puts the “(Live)” amendment in-game.

As for re-recordings, they are allowed but they are few customs. Maybe if the re-recording is similar to its’ original version (i.e. Collective Soul’s Shine), it’s probably not necessary. But if its easily distinguishable (like the Johnny Cash and Motorhead re-recordings), you could make it.

As for RB4 songs, no customs are allowed of them unless it’s a different version than the one in-game, like a live recording or a remix. Same applies for other official DLC. The DLC for Freewill and Rock This Town are not the original versions (Freewill DLC is a live recording & Rock This Town DLC is a re-recording), so a custom for their respective original version is more than welcome I suppose.

since this is the case, then there is no reason my 2020 version of Perfect Weapon by Black Veil Brides got deleted, but it seems it did after someone commented on the video calling me a Rock Band Network bootlegger -.-

Yeah, ill agree with the other posts here, an easy and short song can take as little as 5-6 hours for all instruments, especially if you are very familiar with the song, and tools/programs you use. I wouldn’t count myself as experienced as I have only been doing customs (started with drums only) for around 4ish months and don’t really bother personally with pro instruments minus the drums of course, only because its such a small amount of people who do that (and sadly im not one of them, tho i do own a pro guitar, so that may change one day haha). The fastest I’ve done a song, recorded, and edited was maybe around the 6ish hour mark as i said before, but on average id say even with my own bands songs, it can easily take over 20 hours total. the longest has probs been around 30 hours total work time not including recording and editing a video and uploading. Granted in my case this amount of time still has mistakes that i eventually fix or change once either I or someone else notices.

All in all I’d say its quite rewarding, tho expect 100 songs to take more than a year or two while you learn over the first few months how to chart better, faster, use shortcuts, work out things you didn’t know as time goes by in said programs etc.

Now i hope nothing i or the others have said will discourage you, just be aware it is time consuming, and there is a fair bit to learn, especially if you don’t have any musical background knowledge. My suggestion is watch a shit ton of YouTube videos teaching you how to use the programs, the right and wrong was to chart (all though this can be subjective, though if you decide to do some things less conventional expect criticism) etc.

Hope to see some stuff in the near future from you!

I’d love to do that but I’ve had nothing but issues everytime I’ve tried to use reaper. Might be an idea to do so again and try but past experience just hasn’t been very rewarding with reaper. Hence sticking to EOF haha. Cheers tho!

This isn’t the best place to report issues with Onyx (since many of them are programming errors on my part, and not a true problem with the chart that someone could help you with here) – please make a new issue at https://github.com/mtolly/onyxite-customs/issues and include a link to the chart.

all good, if the issue is just the program than ill just be not lazy and make the easy medium and hard charts myself <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

                    no biggy!

cheers for the reply and thankyou for the program!

It also appears that you are missing the events and beat tracks/there are muted while exporting. The C3 Reaper template has these if you are missing them.

I noticed that once I fixed the overlapping issue in beat 106 and 107 it did that for me during the conversion, So that’s all good! Thankyou also!

                        Hey there,

The problem here is in the MIDI on the DRUMS track. At the specified measures there are multiple notes together that don’t start or end at the same time – the length of those needs to match. You’ll just need to quantize or re-create those notes and that will fix it.

Okay i feel silly now, I worked it out before I got a reply on this what had done wrong, It seems when i was copy pasting a section that was the same previously in the song to near the end of the song, That I must have had overlapping notes that i just couldn’t see (AKA I must have copy pasted twice and put them over the top of each other in the 106th and 107th beat) so as soon as I deleted tho two beats and re-charted the area exactly the same, It worked!

Silly me haha. Thankyou for the reply tho!

                        Much appreciated. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
