Big thanks for the pack! Huge fan of B&S (and the Scotland packs). Didn’t think they would make it into the game. If there is a 03 pack, consider Idlewild as well as more B&S

thx!

thx!

[*]This themed three-pack pack kicks off with a flawless deep cut from an artist who has seen three of her tracks released as pre-RB3 content.
How many pre-RB3 songs did Pat Benatar have? I don’t know, but I bought them all ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
Sorry to keep this thread going-and-going…but I am going to practice the backup/restore process tonight. I have see lots of posts that say to backup, but none that exactly describe the process…
Do you mind mentioning what you backup and how?
I assume I should backup “songs.cache” in the “Rock Band 3” -> “00000001 Saved Game” directory.
Also guessing that I should backup “band3” in the XBox Profile “45410914 Rock Band 3” -> “00000001 Saved Game” directory.
Is this what you do to backup?
And then restore is the opposite? (Assuming that the profile is working…)
thx again for being patient and answering so many questions!
And one more question on profilesRight now my customs USB (w/TU4) has a (new offline) xbox profile. Can I move it back to the hard drive?
I am concerned that something will corrupt the USB as I will be updating with new songs every friday
You can, but having a USB stick for all things customs makes it easier.
Or you can back it up using one of those “personal computer” gizmos I’ve been reading about in Popular Science.
OFTEN.
Thanks, my thought is that using the USB explorers is “risky”, so don’t risk the profile. In XBox, you can only MOVE profiles. I have not tried to move a profile with a USB explorer as there look to be many files/folders necessary…
I did have a backup of my saved game, but since the profile was corrupted with a USB explorer, I couldn’t recover the saved game (at least that is what I think after much trials…)
thx!!!

An update. The only utility I could get working with >256 files and my 32GB USB drives (I have 2 “Patriot 32GB USB 2”) was fatxplorer (commercial 1 week trial). For whatever reason USBXTAFGUI and Modio and PartyBuffalo just wouldn’t work after many many attempts.
I do have a question on xbox profiles. Since the profile was on the USB and it was corrupted, even though I had a backup of my “RB3 game save”, I have not been able to use it as the game save appears tied to a profile…That is a bummer as I loose all of my song ratings as well as scores. On the bright side, at least I can play RB3 again…
Well, after a bunch more attempts of copying and testing, I finally got all songs copied (w/USBXTAFGUI) by doing them one at a time and I was hoping that all would work…but alas now my xbox profile is corrupted.
(USBXTAFGUI hung when attempting to import my songs directory (~300 songs) and then later when trying to copy about 12 in drag-n-drop…so I knew once I had to kill the program, I was likely it trouble…)
I will try to create a new (offline) profile, put it on the same USB drive as the customs and see if I can copy the the RB3 related files from the bad profile (again risky, but why not try).
Worse case is I just start over…but I do hope to save my scores and song ratings ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
Funny you should mention that. My latest idea was to move all of my customs into 1 BIG folder and then “import the folder” (instead of just injecting bunches of files).
It added them all, but when I went back after close/exit, it did stop at 256. Was just now looking for an alternative utility. I’ll definitely try usbxtafgui.
thanks for all of the replies, you keep me from getting stuck
I thought I had it…I have the new USB with my profile and I am able to move a bunch of customs, with Party Buffalo, and play them from RB3 and see my old scores and song ratings! Yea!
This is why I thought I got it working…everything works until I try and add another song. New songs *look* like they are copied to the USB with Party Buffalo, but if I close and then exit Party Buf and then re-open, they are missing. I deleted all songs, then I was able to add a bunch(first copy). But once again, when I try to add after the close/exit, the “new” songs are not there the next time I look (songs there were there from the first copy are still there…)
Strange. Anyone see something like this?
thx!
I do have a backup, but never tried it…will give it a shot tomorrow.
I don’t have the systems in front of me at the moment, but:
Do I need both the “game save backup” from the xbox storage menu and the songs.cache (seen from Party Buff)? Or are they the same?
I have never understood what is in each file. Are the song scores, song ratings, etc. all in the “save game”?
thx!
Should have mentioned that once Quit Party Buff and restarted, my new and original song were deleted, so it seems like there is ONE song, but the directory has 2 entries for it.
At this point, I guess I don’t have the option of deleting files…
