In a song like this, if you’re off grid, it’s a dreadful mistake. If you can’t figure out the time signature changes, stick with easier material.

Wrong time signature changes in no way make you place notes off grid, at worst they are on the upbeat when they should be on the downbeat and viceversa. Do your tempo map using the metronome and keep a steady beat unless the song has crazy changes. You can always put time signature changes later.

Ok I know off grid is bad that’s why I’m asking a question here. The band who recorded this did everything live so it’s not a constant BPM. Is there a way to make each measure line up perfectly even with the huge BPM changes? I know the time signatures and already implemented them in the song.

It would have been useful to know from the start that the issue was in Reaper.

Whoops thought my OP included Reaper in there. Must have been typing too fast

If you want to publicize your customs here, please use our database, and link to that instead of YouTube. You can put your YouTube links in the database.

Didn’t know that was possible. I would have put my customs in a long time ago, but I never bothered with band animations and such so I thought that made my customs disqualified from C3

129 BPM. It’s a metalcore band so they most likely played to a click. Start there.

Open the MP3 in Audacity, does it sound fine? Then it’s REAPER. If not, then your audio drivers or codecs are messed up. REAPER is problematic for sound. Are you using ASIO? If not sure or not using it, Google it and start using ASIO4ALL with REAPER.

Yup that was the issue. I was using WASAPI for the Audio device. ASIO didn’t work for me, but I changed it to WaveOut and it fixed the buzz. Thank you!

Add a mute audio track to the crowd track in Magma.

I don’t see why Magma would have anything to do with buzzing straight from the mp3 that I drag straight into Reaper.

Sounds like you may have some tempo stretch function set in REAPER that does not export properly. Try re-importing your exported MIDI (without merging tempomap) and see if it still lines up.

I’ve created multiple songs with the same version of Reaper I’ve always used and this has never happened to me before. But this song is also shorter than all the other songs I have made. Would that have anything to do with it? I put the midi file into Reaper and it turns out some of the measures deleted some of the tempos I put in there? For example: 3.1: 82.375 bpm 4.1 5.1 6.1 7.1:80 bpm 8.1:83.132 bpm 9.1 and so on. How do I fix this because the Reaper project I originally used does not look like that.

    Guitar

    – M 30 I can’t hear anything played by the “guitar” in sections like this. It doesn’t sound like he’s playing anything.

    – M 62.2.50 should be a red sustain

    – M 60-90 I feel the guitar should copy the roots of the notes in the key chart. I’m not sure what to listen for when I play guitar though. So instead of all 3 sustains being yellow at M 68, it would be something like Blue Yellow Red.

    – M 96 I don’t feel this chord is needed.

General – Try to follow the roots of key chart.

    Bass

    – M 32 take out that note

    – M 32.1.50 should be a yellow to blue hammer on

    – M 34 and 42 same thing

    – M 46 all the measure like these notes should be changed to RBRYRB.

    – M 55.4 missing the slide

    Keys

    – 96 I feel this should be fast sliding on keys

    Drums

    -3.4.312 add another red

It’s the project link in the op.

sorry couldn’t open it due to the fact I have a mac, I fixed it though I will test this song out

No reaper file? Or am I not looking hard enough

    Vocals

Only thing I want to point out are the “woah’s” in the harmony part. Those sound like those should be pitched as a descending chromatic pitch starting from possibly C?

    Guitar

Nice and repetitive. Don’t see any errors.

    Bass

    – M 72.3.50 this should be 5 yellow strums

    – M 75.1.50 I feel there should be more yellow notes so the player will alt strum all the way until they reach the orange note at 75.4

    – M 75.4 I feel this should either be a sustained orange or a slide from orange to red and then the yellow to blue hammer on

    – M 100.3.50 5 yellow strums

    Drums

I don’t know why but I feel like there’s no kick pedal to the song, but I’m gonna play it safe and keep the kicks there. Nothing else that I’ve noticed.

    Keys

    No errors.

in reply to: New PRO builds!!!! #402695

If I make some pro customs, can I send you the files for them and like edit them or whatever since I’m still a beginner at this? And also if a song has no bass upgrade, can I make 1 and add it on to the upgrade file?

in reply to: Anybody willing to playtest EDM? #402452

I wrote down that I’m down for anything. So I can do this.

    Drums: -patterns like 40 – 47.4 should be GRO B YO B GRO B YO B GRO.

    – 48 – 55.3 should be O RO O RO.

    – Patterns like O Y R Y O should have an O on the red notes.

    – 111.3 take out the yellow

    – 111.4 should have an orange with the blue

    – 111.4.50 this should be a R R instead of just yellow

    – 119.4 this drum roll should have 3 kicks in it near the end of the drum roll.

    – 127.4 should have a kick in it

    – 127.4.50 take out the green notes and add a kick to the first red note.

    – The disco beats should have a kick on the reds as well.

    – 135.4 include a kick.

    – 135.4.50 same thing as 127.4.50.

    – 143.4 include a kick and add another red right after it.

    – 143.4.50 same as 127.4.50.

    – 150 – 152 this is constant kick pedal. All the down beats have kicks in it.

    – 152 take out the red.

    – 152.3 take out the red.

    – 152.4 this should be a GRO.

    – 153.4 – the end. I feel these should be blues if you’re starting them off as blues when the new measure comes in and to add blues to the kicks too. Also the kicks are on beats 1 and 3 of the measure not just 1.

    – 155.4.50 add a kick

    Vocals: – 24.3 “giv-” should be a B I think and “ing” should be a C.

    – 28 “sleeping is” comes in too early.

    – 28.3 same as 24.3.

    – 32.3 “that you’ll” comes in too early. “that” should be a B. “you’ll” should be one tube and should be a C.

    – 34.2 “than” should be extended longer.

    – 38.2 “daught-” should be a C.

    – 48 “people say” comes in a bit early.

    – 52 “come on baby” comes in a bit early and could be extended a bit.

    – 54 these pitches seem jumbled up, some need to come in later and some earlier.

    – “Everytime you” comes in too early.

    – “close” should be 1 word.

All of these seem a bit the same, so just go back and move around some of the tubes so it lines up better.

(will come back with guitar, bass, and keys later)

    in reply to: U2 – “With or Without You” {V3: 2 aug 2013} #402360

Guitar: -11 sounds like it’s a yellow to a blue or orange hammer on.

    -22.3 should be a yellow.

    -86.3 should be O B G

    Bass: Looks fine.

Drums: The green tom pattern at the beginning should be GO GO GO GR GO GO GO GR up until the chorus which should go G GO G GRO G GO G GRO.

    – 50.4.50 possibly a blue cymbal

    – 51.3.50 should include a kick

    – 51.4.50 should include a kick

    – 52.1.50 should include a kick

    – 86.4 – 87 should just be a RO _ R R GO.

    – 88.4.50 replace the R with a O.

    – 93.4.50 include a kick.

    – 94.2.50 include a kick

    – 122.3.75 take out the blue

    – 130.3.75 take out the blue

    – 131 – the end. Started the beat wrong.

Vocals: All of the phrases seem to come in too early. That’s the only major problem I see.
