Keys or no keys, I’ll be hoping for a more versatile band make up. I think we are due having an actual rhythm guitar on stage along with all the familiar instruments. They can draw from more resources (songs) with this new option. Also it will handle more players onstage at the same time with the improved horsepower. I will be on the fence until we hear anything. Regardless, I will never put away my customs ps3. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
April 3, 2015 at 4:49 am #441945I think we are due having an actual rhythm guitar on stage along with all the familiar instruments. In my dream world Rock Band 4 would have Guitar exactly as we already have, Rhythm guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, drums, and 3 part harmonies. All keeping proper score for everyone while a Stage Kit keeps us in the mood. Go big or don’t go lol
I’ll be buying a PS4 for Rock Band 4 no matter what they do but I can have my wishlist.

Well unfortunately, the XBox One can only have 8 “controllers” attached to it at once which would once again cut out the stage kit. But one can hope!
April 3, 2015 at 1:54 pm #441969Weighing in, because why the hell not.
I’m forced to see this from the perspective of the guy who brings Rock Band to conventions, in addition to someone who deals in customs. People are going to want to play it, and I’m “the Rock Band guy”, so I’m going to inevitably have to shell out money for the logical console (Xbone, since I bought everything for 360) that I have no personal interest in aside from RB. Do I run two competing setups and have to deal with even more of a volume war with other games? Do I leave RB4 home in favor of a bunch of customs, and risk people complaining about not getting to try the new one? Do I leave the 360 home in favor of new songs, and let down the people who want to play keys/a bunch of fun customs people have spent time making?
I’m excited to see the new setlist and trying not to be too jaded from you guys releasing these awesome songs I always wanted but never officially got. I’m curious how they’re going to bring back a story/tour mode to make people stop whining about that. I’m wondering if the setlist is going to be gimped in favor of “Buy DLC and make your own RB4!”.
Edit — RB’s Twitter said harms aren’t confirmed yet, correct me if I’m wrong.

wow, well okay then. i could have sworn in like their IGN interview about the RB4 announcement that they said they are in for sure. if this game doesn’t have harmonies then, wow, no buy for me as i’m already frustrated by lack of keys/pro modes.
April 4, 2015 at 9:09 pm #442073Skipping harmonies wouldn’t get me over the new console hump.
April 5, 2015 at 11:02 pm #442137Well shoot, I thought I also remembered them confirming at E3 or shortly after that harmonies would be in the new game.
I’d still buy the new game even without them, but it’s almost as if Harmonix wants to make me think really hard about it.
April 6, 2015 at 6:36 am #442159Admittedly, I was a little disappointed there won’t be pro keys, but so far I’m looking forward to it. However, if they were to come out and say it won’t have online versus mode then there’s a good chance I may not pick it up, unless of course the set list is really really good.
April 6, 2015 at 9:44 am #442161I for one was a special case when RB3 came out i preordered the key and game bundle but had not yet even owned a ps3. I had all the games for ps2 and had played the shit out of em. And here i am again with no current gen console and another RB release…but i wont be purchasing it. i wont be getting it because i dont have the money this time around and i cant justify getting a system for just one game. the only thing remotely interesting is the next installment of kingdom hearts and thats about it. To me it seems the gaming industry has been pretty lackluster and thats saying alot im not a casual gamer here.
April 6, 2015 at 1:44 pm #442164Okay, trying to be optimistic.
Maybe they’re pulling a Tony Hawk HD, starting at the basics with a heavy coat of gloss, and will gradually put things back in? We just have to be patient and give them money first.
April 6, 2015 at 4:17 pm #442166AnonymousGiven that we had some tension yesterday I want to be very clear on this: it’s a genuine question about your habits, I have no interest in criticizing people not buying the game, I’m just curious about the thought process. So…I’m wondering about the people quitting the franchise because of keys and how they came to the conclusion. Have you only played RB3 because the previous games didn’t have keys or did you come to gradually only play keys with RB3 making the other instruments not interesting anymore? Or is it more of a “with no full band experience it’s not worth it anymore for me” thing? Does this also mean that apart from RB3 customs your foray in the rhythm games world is over or will you transition to dance or Blitz-like games or to other games that offer some kind of support for keys?
Honestly, it’s more because of me not wanting to spend the money on a PS4/XONE only for RB4. Also, I would be more interested in a PS4 instead of an Xbox this time around (XONE doesn’t seem to be worth it in my opinion) meaning I will be using a PSN account. So would also have to rebuy not only instruments but also songs that I owned on my X360.
Lastly, large chance of customs NOT working on RB4 in the first place.
Removal of keys themselves makes it that much worse really for me.
~Edit~
Really, if RB4 was the only thing I needed to buy and I can easily use the songs which I owned on Blitz/RB3 then I wouldn’t mind getting it but due to how things usually work and which new-gen-console I’m leaning toward… I don’t see that happening for me.

April 7, 2015 at 7:39 pm #442240Rock Band 2.5, guys. You heard it here first. Let’s undo all innovations to the genre and just release the same game from 6 years ago. And you can play all your downgraded DLC too.
