I’m ecstatic that you and spindoctor did these converts, and will do anything in my power to help make them better. Which isn’t much, sadly, outside of offering ‘alternative’ audio mixes for them. *see my thread for those*

 

But I can at least point you to my charts/audio for Higher Ground and Infected which have separate bass charts + stems that you are free to use. That should help make those two songs a little easier to swallow for the multitrack only crowd. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> (I think I’m like the one person ever who bought and downloaded the re-purposed GH1 tracks for GH2 360, lol)

 

I do have one silly question to ask though. After you finish with the tracks we don’t already have, do you guys have any plans on bringing the covers/older chart versions of songs we already do have in RB? It’d be cool to have the GH1 chart of Smoke on the Water along side the RB3 version. (Yeah I know, I’m like the one person who wants this. I’m insane, and I like having the old and the new.)

I’m very sorry, we aren’t planning on re-doing any songs that are official Harmonix DLC or C3 customs. That would be a step backwards. I’m thinking it is against the C3 rules as well.

what i mean is that the chart for Fire and flames is one of the most Talked about suject on rockband forums.

im just thinking of the possibilities of having the Smash hit chart or the 3 chart and comparing.

Here is a good chance for you to try charting, you say you have stems & bass parts for a couple of these songs, give them a try, it can’t hurt to give them a go.

 

All these tracks have multitrack guitar parts, unfortunately a bunch of them are “cover songs”

 

Your question regarding Smoke on the Water is not silly at all, I like some of the cover versions of these songs & have converted several, We will not post any songs(original or cover) that can be bought through Rockband as it is taboo & I agree with C3’s stance on these. In saying that here is another opportunity for you to try converting them for yourself, these are fairly simple tracks to do as there is only one part to convert. Nunchuck{he’s a good guy with a great attitude) & myself are always willing to help people who are interested in trying these or making them better. Don’t be afraid to ask questions to either of us.

Awesome job doing these guys. I never got to play the original. GH2 was my intro to fake guitars. I’ll have to try a few of these out sometime.

Just to confirm, anything that’s available officially, we don’t redo. There is a case by case point to be made (we admins just discussed that because a user came to us to submit a unique scenario, in example, and we gave the green light on that), but it really needs a special case. Live and cover versions may be a different thing, because it’s not even the same song, and honestly I don’t know who would choose a studio cover version of a song officially available in its original form. But again, case by case basis, because *I* am not the whole of C3 and the other admins may have a different position.

 

If you’re wondering why we don’t have a strict and precise position on this is to allow more flexibility to all our users. Our only goal in this regard is not to take away a single sale from HMX (in fact, many users stated that they actually bought more songs from HMX after discovering a band through customs).

The funny thing is, I know about this and completely agree with the stance on it. Then in my ‘zomg moar vintage GH converts’ ferver, I had a brain-fart and overlooked the obvious. My brain no work sometimes.

 

If anything, I’d make them (or have them made) for personal use only. The only thing still hampering that fact is the endless confusion that is the reaper window. Even after digesting the tutorials, info, and such, it is alien to my fragile mind. Someday though.. someday.
