Hi there,
I recently got interested in making custom songs here, so I read a few things on the wiki documents, but there are a few problems I ran in to.
First, I am not sure how I am supposed to deal with instruments that do not have a part in the song. I was working on a song that had no guitar, and when I tried to enter it into magma, it said that there were no notes in the guitar. Is there a way to disable this?
Also, for first testing, is it necessary to have all four difficulties ready in order to be able to render the MIDI in MAGMA?
Another thing, in MAGMA I tried checking the keys solo tickbox, but it wouldnt work, nor could I set the difficulty ratings for any of the instruments. Can anyone give me some pointers?
I am sorry if this information happened to be readily available, I really couldn’t find it. Thanks in advance

Is it necessary to have all four difficulties ready in order to be able to render the MIDI in MAGMA?The C3 template includes a set of dummy notes in Easy, Medium, and Hard – no need to prepare all difficulties for a first-time compile.

To clarify. To be able to click on the solo marker for Keys, you first need to have enabled the Keys track in Magma. If you have the option to check the MIDI file for contents, when you feed the MIDI to Magma, it’ll enable/disable the solo markers for all instruments based on what’s on the MIDI, so you’ll need to make sure you have the right note to mark it in REAPER.
nor could I set the difficulty ratings for any of the instruments. Can anyone give me some pointersAgain, you can only set difficulty for instruments that are enabled. So make sure they are first.
December 24, 2014 at 9:52 am #435112Thank you, this has helped me get a further. I am running into an error in the MAGMA tester and I don’t know why/how:
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: e:/users/jarko/downloads/magmac3v325/test/testbestand.mid (PART REAL_KEYS_X): File: e:prjrbnsystemsrcbeatmatchSongParser.cpp Line: 2394 Error: mKeyboardRangeSecondPitch == -1
This means you didn’t author Pro Keys but left the track in the MIDI – you must mute unauthored tracks in REAPER before exporting
at 1:2:000
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: PART KEYS: Empty track found
I authored both keys and pro keys, so I don’t know why it reports the tracks being empty. If I look in REAPER there are clearly notes in there. Do you know what might have caused this error?

Did you correctly place range shift markers?
December 24, 2014 at 12:08 pm #435126Hmm, I just now noticed that all the pro gems have moved all over the place and out of the range. That might be why that error was caused.
As for the range shift markers, at the start of the song in the template, all markers have notes, should I leave those there, or should I pick the one range I need to start at? If else, when do I place the first marker, at the start of the notes, or a bar before that?
