It’s Simon & Garfunkel! They used BOTH time signatures, 4/4 and 3/4 (or 12/8, or 6/4, or whatever is in 3s)! (kids will miss the Blues Brothers reference)
By the way, MIDIs are perfect for that. They usually have one BPM marker, so the tempo map needs to be done anyway, but they usually have all time signatures mapped. That combined with the one BPM marker to be used as a pointer and the fact that notes start properly on the down or upbeat, makes MIDIs pretty useful. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
October 11, 2015 at 9:49 pm #457395Man, I’d love to see some tracks from Graceland made into customs…
Also, based on the above I guess that’s Farottone confirmed for Blues Brothers OST. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
October 12, 2015 at 3:31 pm #457427Anything from Graceland would be awesome for sure! pretty much every song that Paul Simon has ever written either with Simon & Garfunkel or solo are amazing songs.
October 13, 2015 at 1:07 pm #457489The great thing about S&G is that they only have 58 songs in their catalog to choose from, and most of them are under 3 minutes.
And HMX already took care of 2 of them ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
IMO, “Mrs. Robinson”, “The Boxer”, and “Cecilia” are essential, there’s another 6-7 classic songs that would be great to have but probably wouldn’t be super great full-band experiences (“Bridge Over Troubled Water”, for example…would be fun for a single vocalist, but not much to do for other instruments).
Just my ranking by preference:
1) Mrs. Robinson
2) The Boxer3) Cecilia
4) Homeward Bound
5) The 59th Street Song
6) Scarborough Fair/Canticle (crazy harmonies)
That covers most of the super-well-known hits. Some day, perhaps.

Keys??
Bridge also has a fantastic horns section and beautiful bass.

I was generalizing, but…yes…you are right.
October 13, 2015 at 3:59 pm #457500I’m under the impression that people consider rhythm acoustic guitar an easy thing. It is so not.

I have never heard a version with horns and bass.
Only strings and piano, and a little drum in the last verse.

I think Paul Simon is a great guitarist (and an even better songwriter), actually. I don’t minimize the acoustic guitar parts in his songs at all.
I’ve never heard a lot of interesting bass or drums in most of S&G songs, though. The percussion in “Cecilia” is a wonderful exception.
That was what I meant by “not much to do for other instruments”. Just looking at it from a FB perspective. Geez, guys…I’m a S&G fan! I’d auto-download any S&G customs that anybody put out.
October 13, 2015 at 4:37 pm #457504Sorry, I meant an easy thing to author. It’s not, really not.
October 13, 2015 at 6:24 pm #457511Just throwing this out there, but if anyone wants to collaborate on S&G songs, I will immediately drop what I’m working on to help out with Two songs specifically: Scarborough Fair and Hazy Shade of Winter. I can do Guitar and Bass.
