I know I may be incurring some more wrath, but personally, I would rather have RB4 on 360 with no pro guitar than RB4 on next gen only with pro guitar
That’s just me being selfish though. I just don’t wanna buy a nextgen
March 9, 2015 at 3:22 pm #440211I really had no interest for Pro Guitar/Bass for Rock Band 3, it just confused me! Rocksmith is a much better counterpart i think. If anything Rocksmith taught me how to play Bass guitar, RB pro wouldn’t have.
I’m a bit disappointed they dropped the key’s support though, but being a multi-instrument player i guess it doesn’t affect me as much as opposed to other players who focused on one instrument only.
March 9, 2015 at 5:45 pm #440227Couple of years ago I bought a fender pro guitar, but it is so heavy it is no fun playing it.
Also I like bass more and if I have some money I will buy a real bass and buy rocksmith.
I really hope that there will be a better guitar for rockband.
That fast strumming is something I cannot do and dont like.

March 10, 2015 at 1:09 am #440273Harmonix has some crowd-funding experience by now, if they made a Kickstarter to port RB3 (and it’s pro guitar catalog) to a new title with a pitch detection system I’d gladly spend a couple hundred on it. The number of pro players was small, but we had plenty of money to buy into the feature so it would take less of us to fund such a thing.I’m in for a kickstarter like that.
March 10, 2015 at 1:12 am #440274Rocksmith is barely a multiplayer game with a max of two players at once. It certainly can’t compete with Bandfuse’s (4 players at once) or Rock Band (even more than that) and doesn’t give the same “band” experience. It doesn’t even have a proper vocal system. It doesn’t have instrument stems, you literally play on top of a stereo track.I think this is how multi-player Rocksmith is supposed to work:
- Learn songs by yourself with Rocksmith
- Get together with other people IRL and jam

March 19, 2015 at 12:51 pm #440957Bump.
RB4 runs on a new engine, 1080p/60fps.
Release set for October, apparently.
Page 17 has the beefier article. Haven’t read it all yet.
March 19, 2015 at 1:23 pm #440959Oooh good reading material to go with my morning coffee. BRB.
So nothing much beyond what espher says, except they quote one of the MadCatz guys as saying the latency of the instruments has improved as well as the build quality.
And October! I hope early October, as near the end of October/beginning of November my life is going to change and I’m going to have drastically less time to play! So here’s hoping for first half of October ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
March 19, 2015 at 2:07 pm #440964Yeah, early October only means I have to accelerate five RBHP releases to beat the launch.
March 19, 2015 at 2:37 pm #440965My biggest concern about RB4 I think is the setlist. A lot of the quintessential Rock songs have already shown up on the franchise (or on GH). While there are entire artists that haven’t, it’s mostly because they won’t appear on music games, period. If it’s all newer stuff it won’t entice me in the slightest, same as obscure stuff (but I think I read somewhere about it being a monster setlist or something, so obscure seems unlikely). Also, several of my favorite songs to play on RB have already been pulled form the store, which strongly suggests they will not ‘export’ to the new platform any time soon or at all.
Maybe if I use it as a separate platform, with a different set of songs entirely. I wonder what is the point of porting some of my legacy songs over, if all of them are available on RB3?
Well, anyway, those are my morning ramblings. Carry on.

On page 16 it says at the top that Rock Band returns ‘this Christmas’.
March 19, 2015 at 2:49 pm #440967The blurb on Page 4 specifically says October, and at least one other website had rumored an October release. The HMX forums are taking this as basically being confirmed in October, although we all know HMX has yet to make that announcement.
“This Christmas” I think should be read more like “this Christmas season” – releasing in October puts the game at a good time frame to gain critical mass and be a popular holiday gift.
