January 7, 2014 at 8:47 pm #411801I am gonna try and do All Time Low – Umbrella and Metallica – Die Die My Darling for the cover pack, and Devin Townsend – Bad Devil for the favorite artists pack. If I get any more time after that I might try doing another Buckethead song for the previously released artists pack
You really have to be in the multitrack celebration pack, come on. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”> Drop one of the other but considering you have a free shot at any kind of song (we have only mainstream now, so you don’t need to think about popularity) and you are a prolific author, it would be fitting to have you there.
January 7, 2014 at 9:36 pm #411802I’m all for a St Paddy’s day pack, and since I’ve started Zombie sometime ago, I’d happily do it. Anyone to do a Pogues song (even if they’re not really irish) ?

January 7, 2014 at 10:20 pm #411804Alright, I’ve decided to do “A Nightmare To Remember” by DT for the Multitrack Pack.
January 7, 2014 at 10:23 pm #411805Yeah the Daft Punk stems was a fluke, they were either bad MIDI renditions of the real thing or remix stems that was also in the wrong tempo for a song I don’t like at all from them, so what should I do for the Multitrack Pack if I am to join in on it?

Well I see they do have stems for Serj Tankian – Harakiri which I could have interest in doing, though I am not all that comfortable with paying around 20$ for stems that may or may not be fit for charting (I heard talk about missing parts of some of the DT tracks from Jammit).
January 8, 2014 at 12:45 am #411815You’re right about missing parts. I just bought Too Young to Fall in Love by Motley Crue and the harmony vocals are missing. Pretty disappointed.
January 8, 2014 at 12:47 am #411816doubtsDon’t doubt Jammit. By and large their stuff is beyond excellent.
I just bought Too Young to Fall in Love by Motley Crue and the harmony vocals are missing.See above. I’m willing to wager you missed the second harmony stem that comes separate from lead vocals.

Pretty disappointed.I never encountered a missing part but even if you have something that Jammit doesn’t cover (in example the saxophone), that is still in the full mix and can (actually has to) be extracted by a simple process of inversion, something you need to do anyway to get the backing track. Which is why we suggested you asked us what to do with the tracks in the first place.
Btw, missing bits and pieces are not uncommon in Rock Band. Queensryche’s Silent Lucidity is missing a vocal note on Jammit, it’s baked in the backing track AND at a very low volume. Lo and behold, the same note is missing in the Rock Band official DLC of the track, probably because it was baked in the backing track for them too and they left it out. We are always talking multitracks here, meaning not everything is guaranteed to be 100% as the final mix.

Those stems I got were not from Jammit. I got them through the Special Edition of the Black Clouds album, which came with a “Producer Edition” of all tracks. And it’s those stems that had the missing parts (which I assume are samples and could not be included). Everything I’ve gotten from Jammit had nothing missing (but the track I’m doing is not on Jammit anyway.)
January 8, 2014 at 2:13 am #411821I’m willing to wager you missed the second harmony stem that comes separate from lead vocals. There are two stems on guitar, but only one on vocals. Am I missing something?
Which is why we suggested you asked us what to do with the tracks in the first place.I still need your help to extract the audio. I have only listened to the stems in the iPad Jammit app so far. In fact, when you get the opportunity would you PM the process to extract the stems?
Thank you
January 8, 2014 at 2:23 am #411822There are two stems on guitar, but only one on vocals. Am I missing something?
No, that song does not have harmonies in the audio provided to (and by) Jammit. You could see that by playing the preview for the vocals track on the Jammit website. It shows you that there’s only vocals + backing. So they’re giving you what they got. So yes, in your case there are no harmonies. If the “original” song had them, then what the studio sent Jammit is different, and much like HMX, there’s nothing else they could do.
In the future, make use of the preview function. Each preview is tailored to each song and each track, so you can see exactly what you’ll be getting before you buy it, including how many vocal/guitar/keys parts.

I still plan on doing the song for the anniversary pack even if i have to figure out a way to isolate the harmonies from the CD track.
January 8, 2014 at 2:38 am #411824That is a horrible, horrible, horrible idea. The likelihood that you will isolate harmonies out of a full mix cleanly is abismal. And the likely result is that the CD mix and the Jammit mix will be of different lengths, tempo, or composition, as it tends to be.
The best option (and if it were up to me, only – but don’t worry, I don’t make decisions anymore), is to chart only what is in the audio you’re working with. If this version of the song has no harmonies, then chart without harmonies.
