I saw this on Reddit: FreeStyleGames is hiring MIDI designers for a new music game, possibly the next Guitar Hero. Not sure if it’s still available, but maybe one of you could apply. Otherwise, at least we know something might be in the works. http://theherofeed.com/5660/freestylega … usic-game/

Ugh. I fear more trashy vocal charts.

Oh, come on, they weren’t that bad were they? I personally only felt like smashing their computer monitors over their heads!

Looks like Activision wants to beat Harmonix to the next gen music game.

I wonder if this is going to turn out like the last attempted Guitar Hero 7… apparently it was not very good and scrapped pretty early. There’s an article on it somewhere, but I’m too lazy to pull it up.

Hey speaking of new music games and vocal charts, have any of you guys tried the vocals in the brand new game called “BandFuse”? The game is mostly designed for learning “real life” guitar & bass like Rocksmith, but it also supports a fully dedicated vocals mode (band & solo) and it’s pretty much like RB4 for vocals. In fact I believe Harmonix actually let them copy the vocal system from RB, which they did, but they also expanded on it in some pretty interesting ways (the HMX logo even appears in the load screen).

I just got the game today for 360 and have spent most of my time so far exploring the wealth of guitar & bass content, but I did get a chance to check out a few tracks on vocals and was pleasantly surprised. It has a scoring system which is affected by phrase multipliers and difficulty level (ala R:cool: and even includes the 5-Star rating system we know & love. What’s new is that it actually tracks your pitch accuracy for each note and can give you helpful feedback in real time during a performance as well as separate vocal practice and lesson modes. They also completely changed how the the multiplier system works so that it’s based more on your overall pitch accuracy in addition to streaks. It feels a lot like an evolutionary step forward in the RB vocal system to me. The only cons I noticed were that I don’t think it supports harmonies (not 100% sure) and that I already have a great deal of the on-disc songs in my RB library (but now with true voxtar).

I didn’t spend all this money and time on drums to have them sit one out!

Yeah it’s kinda weird how these “learn real instruments” games always skip on the drums considering how E-drums are pretty much like the real thing with less noise (less rebound I guess, but that is what mechanics like roll lanes are for).

I hear you, but I was really just commenting about the vocal component since it appears to be a new(ish) take on what we know from RB. I can’t help but think that HMX will be using this system in the next gen version of RB if it ever comes to light. I’m not sure why these teaching games have no love for drummers, but I have to believe that they won’t be left out for long. I recall reading somewhere that Ubisoft already trademarked the name “Drumsmith” so who knows if drummers will get a stand alone game or perhaps some type of drum expansion pack. Since my thing is strictly guitar & vocals, these games have been an amazing evolution from the original Guitar Hero concept for me. With the help of RB3’s pro mode, followed by Rocksmith and now BandFuse, I am shredding & wailing better than I ever imagined. And to think that it all started from just 5 colored buttons on a plastic controller

I’ve been saying for a while that it’ll probably not be great… it can’t really compete with Rocksmith and Bandfuse this late surely.. and if it’s sticks to it’s normal formula, it’ll be fun for a bit but i can’t do without my harmonies.. anyway, i probably won’t think about getting it at all if it’s next-gen which it probably is…

BUT, i’ve just thought.. at the very least… it’ll probably allow us to get some more multitracks, which is always nice

Licensing issues? It would have been Guitar Hero: RHCP, which explains why some RHCP content suddenly became unavailable.

being a big RHCP fan and currently wearing a RHCP Tshirt, i was sad to hear GH:RHCP wasn’t happening and then all the Rock Band songs started going… I would have loved a few more songs from every album as well as Stadium Arcadium in full in Rock Band..

So I played Band Fuse on vocals and I cant for the life me 5 star a song on the hardest difficulty. Maybe I’m just not used to this engine yet but it sure is way more difficult than Rock Band.
