Don’t go over 4.22, you can still find the older versions on Cockos website. Open the C3 template, open your file, open the guitar track, CTRL+A, copy, go to the C3 template, open the guitar track, point at M1.1 (the very beginning of the track), paste.
March 8, 2014 at 6:32 pm #415285Got the same errror using v4.22… it still doesn’t recognize the track name event. I swear I have it in there
Edit: Just to confirm, as long as I am only making an Expert Guitar part, I can leave the other instrument tracks alone pretty much right? And how many midi tracks should I be exporting in the end?

Delete all instruments you don’t use. Post your project if you can’t make it work.
March 8, 2014 at 6:40 pm #415287You either don’t have it at the right place, don’t have the right name, don’t have the right event type or you have more than one track name event in the track. The latter is a byproduct of newer versions of REAPER that if you went back to an older version your rpp might still have in it.
If all that fails, post the MIDI file you’re feeding Magma so someone else can figure out which of the 4 things I said it is. But it is definitely one of the 4.
March 8, 2014 at 6:53 pm #415288Still getting it. I’m stumped. Here’s the midi and the project:

There’s probably some glaring error(s) that I’m not seeing.
March 8, 2014 at 7:32 pm #415292You have muted all instruments track, so no instrument tracks are exported.
March 8, 2014 at 10:59 pm #415296Welp, I’m an idiot. It works perfectly now. Thanks so much for all the help!
March 20, 2014 at 5:25 pm #415846Not a question about issues I’m having with Magma but was wondering about something and figured I’d ask…
I know magma compiles the lip sync using the dryvox but wondered if it is at all possible to figure out exactly what Magma is doing when it is compiling it. (Not something a user normally sees, but like what is going on in the background)
Not sure if what it generates is something that can easily be manipulated but if possible maybe it could lead to near perfect lip sync for all songs? Just a thought.
March 20, 2014 at 5:28 pm #415848The lipsync is generated by MagmaCompiler, which we don’t have the source code to. It’s all contained in the milo_xbox file that goes along with the song, and as I understand it it’s just a sequence of text telling the game what to use and how. But I don’t have a way to parse that file and no interest either ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
But just like PikminGuts92 got into programming so we could access the textures found in milo files (other kind of milo_xbox) and just finished that recently, maybe this can be your motivation to start programming ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
March 24, 2014 at 2:01 am #416109I’m getting an error log like this:

March 24, 2014 at 2:42 am #416113There’s an issue with the audio compiler, and I’m willing to bet it has to do with the file names you got. Maybe move the files from C:UserszsmithDownloadsNew folder (2)l.al.al.a..rba to something with less periods and less layers? It’s always a good idea to be a bit more organized ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
Also make sure everything you’re telling Magma to use is where you’re telling it is.
March 24, 2014 at 2:40 pm #416134I tried converting a .png_xbox file and the convert to a image file made it into a corrupted DDS file. Tried the same thing in a older version of Magma without getting any problems.
March 24, 2014 at 5:19 pm #416159This late in the game, do you think that kind of post is helpful?
What kind of png_xbox file? Where did it come from? What version of Magma do you have? How did you install it? Are ALL the files that come with the WinRAR version present in your folder? How did you try using the png_xbox file with Magma? How about you post the file?
“Der it’s broken” is not going to help me fix it.

Moved everything over to a different folder, still get the same error.

March 24, 2014 at 10:00 pm #416179We’re still at the same issue…this is a Windows user error, not a problem with the program.
Project Compiler: Reading project ‘c:userszsmithdownloadsnew folderl.a..rbproj’…The project file can’t possible be named l.a..rbproj. You don’t put two periods for a file name.
Also,
c:userszsmithdownloadsnew folder (2)l.al.a.rbaThat is still the same directory for the RBA file from before, and not consistent with the name of the project. The Project is in new folder, named l.a..rbproj and the rba is supposed to go in new folder/l.a/l.a.rba ?
I don’t mind helping with problems with the program. But I’m getting a little tired of helping people understand how to use Windows. That’s Microsoft’s job, not mine.
When I said to move the files, why do you still have the project in your downloads folder, under a new folder, under something as ridiculous as l.a.?
Why don’t you try Desktop/Artist Name – Song Name/songname.rba and avoid all those ridiculous periods and silly folder names?
I’m done providing assistance for this.
