I just started learning to author. I’m really enjoying it so far. I’m currently working on Rush’s The Anarchist. Most of the pro drums I have down on paper, just need to transcribe it to reaper. I’ll most likely make it a summer project to chart most/all of Rush’s Clockwork Angels. I’d be happy to submit everything.

I’m also down for playtesting guitar/bass/pro drums on expert.

Track down the docs (or hope Creators comes back up), get all the needed software, and start trying to following along with them using a simple song with a fixed bpm.

Someone @ Reddit pointed me to the cached docs here. No pictures, though, but should be more than enough to get you started.

It would probably be a good idea to archive that somewhere; I feel like creators.rockband.com isn’t coming back. No inside info or anything, just a hunch.

Sorry. I didn’t realize this was laready posted when I made a thread for this.

Not a problem. Backups are good.

I am curious about learning to do EMH charts for songs that need them.

Specifically, the Rush discog project. I posted over on the XBOX360 ISO forums about helping. I know he only does expert only.

I have zero experience with any of the software. But am willing to learn. This project is crazy awesome and feel like I should give back something for what you guys are doing. Hopefully if I get comfortable enough with doing it I will end up doing customs of my own.

Hey there! I actually do all difficulties but not for the Rush songs because that’s a different project for different purposes. However, if someone else can do those, I will bring the albums with all difficulties to full band delight.

So, thanks for the offer! Here’s the course of action:

      1) Download Reaper, the audio software ypu will use for any authoring purposes, and the plug in:

      https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qwn2pd4xvmehme7/8yrrIgQnHr

      2) Install everything and give a GOOD read to the Creators docs’ reduction rules (you will find them here: http://www.keepitfishy.com/customscreat … mTools.zip).

      3) Open the Xanadu Reaper package I’ve uploaded here: http://keepitfishy.com/d.php?51764fbf222a9

That’s the final project, so you can see how reductions work in a “real environment”. In doubt though, always take the rules over the project, because rules weren’t written while rushing to deliver the Friday release…

After that, wait for me to send you a cleaned up Rush songs so that you can test your skills on a solid project (tonight probably).

However, please consider that we either do this on an album by album basis, or we don’t do this at all. This only makes sense if we at least go through it to do full albums: doing some single songs is not worth it, so take a step back and assess how much you want to do so neither of us wastes any time. I would be thrilled to go back and add the missing instruments to release full band, all difficulties Rush albums through C3 but I need commitment on your part.

I understand about the full albums, and that was what I was interested in doing.

I have school for a couple more weeks, but after that I should have more than enough time to do this.

Ill start getting familiar with the program and the rules and all that stuff though in the meantime. Thank you for the opportunity!

My weekly crew could offer up some pretty solid peer review if you’re interested…. We have Pro and regular players on every instrument.

I’d also be interested in helping out. I posted this on your page but I guess you didn’t see it:

Espher referred me to you from Reddit. I only recently heard of customs thanks to DLC ending. I asked him if I could submit Clockwork Angels when I finished charting it, s/he recommended I talk to you about collaborating. Right now I’m working on The Anarchist. While I may not have much customs experience I’ve been playing rhythm games since GH1, real drums since RB1.

Maybe we can work together on bringing more Rush songs to Rock Band? I wouldn’t want to spend my time making a custom only to find out you’ve been working on it. I can also shift my focus to another album since you’re doing it on a per album basis.

Sorry, I must have missed that. No, I’m not working on anything Rush at the moment, because all the albums are out except for:

Rush and Caress of Steel – Not a huge fan of those albums, so they are on hold

Roll the Bones – I’m gonna release it soon, but without keys (I will do pro keys when I revisit the whole discography)

Vapor Trails – Another great FoF charter is working on it, so I then come in, add vocals/harmonies, fix stuff up, etc.

Clockwork Angels – Didn’t have time to work on it.

As I said, I would love to revisit all my stuff to add missing instruments, fix vocals, etc. but I simply don’t have the time to do lower difficulties. Great to hear you’re doing Clockwork Angels (Headlong Flight is already charted though for FoF, fyi). Should you decide to help on compacting the discography, just tell me: I can take care of those missing instruments and all the touchups needed in exchange for lower difficulties.

Fair enough. I’ll work my way through CA. I’m using concert vids and the “official” guitar tabs (I say that loosely because there are quite a few mistakes) to base the guitar parts.

I wouldn’t touch CoS with a ten and a half foot poll so I think it will remain like that. As for helping you out with the back catalogue, I’ll see after I finish CA. It’s my favourite album next to Permanant Waves so I’m going to get that done. I’m hoping to be finished The Anarchist by the 5th (I still have a week of exams, so this is on the backburner for now).

Aww, no love for CoS! Fountain of Lamneth had some beautiful stuff, though I don’t know how you’d break it up. Surely someone has done Bastille Day as a single. And come to think of it, I think I remember seeing The Necromancer floating about a long long time ago, but again I’m not sure how they cut it down…

Personally, Hemispheres through Power Windows is the sweet-spot for me, but it’s good to hear that people are starting to join forces on completing the discography. Someone create a spreadsheet, STAT!

Any authors looking to contribute to this project should feel free to PM one of us to talk about it. We’ll likely want to see a sample of your work and a short list of the artists or types of content you would like to work on, but we can bang out the specifics in conversation.

Any prospective playtesters should check out the thread I just posted and e-mail me.
