Other than the surprise Elvis announcement…I’m whelmed.
September 14, 2015 at 5:04 pm #454929Sounds like crazy-talk to me! We buy music games for the new features, right? Especially since the on-disc setlist has to be designed to please people of all tastes: nobody is going to walk away 100% pleased… or even 50%!I like over 50% of the RB3 songs. But that was after the game turned me on to about 10 songs, so your point is still valid. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
The latest announcement is the most lackluster for me. I’m stoked for “The One I Love” and “That Smell”, but that’s about it.
“Features”… eh. It’s Rock Band so one way or another it’ll be fun, even if it is just Rock Band 2.5. But DLC is what I’m most excited for, especially with the potential the RB4 setlist has given for bands that have had little or no presence on the RB platform so far.
So, yeah, the on-disc setlist is not a deciding factor for me either. Never really has been, though perhaps that’s easy to say since there’s usually a lot I like anyway.
No Jessie’s Girl, no peace.“Jessie’s Girl” is DLC. You’ll have your peace.
September 14, 2015 at 5:36 pm #454930But seriously: Have any of you actually bought a Rock Band game specifically for the setlist?!Actually I did purchase RB1 because it had Gimme Shelter and Won’t Get Fooled Again on the setlist, two of my all-time favorite songs. But I do acknowledge and celebrate the power of Rock Band to bring new songs and artists to my attention. But they still have to sell this game to me, and a console on top of that, so it’s a bit of a harder sell this time.
September 14, 2015 at 5:57 pm #454931Is it weird that NOW I don’t mind that the Wii misses out?
September 14, 2015 at 6:35 pm #454935Very disappointed with the in-game tracks this time around. I hope the career mode allows you to choose your own setlist most of the time or it’s going to be a real grind for us.
September 14, 2015 at 7:07 pm #454939i wish they had U2, Prince, Guns N Roses, Kool and the Gang, Wham, Earth Wind and Fire, The Police, Phil Collins, Thin Lizzy, Spandau Ballet, A-ha, Boomtown Rats, Huey Lewis And The News, Chic, Toto, Survivor, Bruce Springsteen, Band Aid (1984 version), Ultravox, ABBA, Madness, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Michael Jackson, KC And The Sunshine Band Simple Minds, Big Country, Dire Straits etc
September 14, 2015 at 7:14 pm #454941Jesus, this reminds me of how badly I’m going to miss some of the RB3 songs.I mean, I know some people want MIDI support, keys, online play. But for me, RB3 is the highest priority.
We, as a coummnity, need to make sure to get the word out to Harmonix about how much we want a RB3 export. Their current stance is “we are looking into it” but Nick Chester said on NeoGAF a while back that they currently didn’t have it in their plans. I sure hope those plans have changed and they are in fact looking into it. I don’t need to post it here again but just look at the RB3 set-list to see some of the classic song we will be losing….
September 14, 2015 at 7:14 pm #454942Don’t get me wrong, I will still follow through with my three pre-orders of the game, but it is obvious that the song budget for this game was just not what it needed to be. 12/63 ftw…I seriously do wonder if it was their budget for acquiring songs that caused the setlist to be this meh.
Also, RB2 and RB3 had over 80 songs on their setlist for the same $60 entry price. This game has only 60+.
September 14, 2015 at 7:17 pm #454943Was disappointed to see Everybody Talks is nowhere to be foundSame, what’s up with that? Could another song possibly have the SAME lyrics/pitch/etc on that one part?

Remember when Rockaway Beach was in the RB1 screenshots?
Same thing here, probably.

September 14, 2015 at 7:38 pm #454948Yes, that was his point.
September 14, 2015 at 7:58 pm #454952RB1:23/58
RB2:24/84
RB3:37/83
RB4:23/63
Now I’m not too exited for this game but I’ll see once I play it. I’ve always been a fan of a long career modes and RB3 didn’t have that like RB2. I hope it’s better and longer than RB2’s.

“Power of Love”, then.
September 14, 2015 at 10:48 pm #454981That’s on RB3’s disc, and was the catalyst for the community creating a custom of “Back in Time” to complement.
