thinking the rb4 setlist is kinda disappointing, i went back and checked which songs from disc games i was excited to play (not counting preorder stuff). of course after playing each game i ended up discovering and liking songs and bands i didn’t care about before, but this is the number of songs that made me go “oh i know that song and i want to play it” before release

compared to the other games it’s not terrible but it’s not amazing either
A bit late but I’m pretty excited to see Lightning Bolt in the game. Even in the customs realm I’ve never seen them show up.
I can’t say too much about the game on setlist alone. Some of my favorite songs to play in the games are ones I don’t really listen to alone, and a lot of what I do listen to I probably wouldn’t find the most fun in the game. I’ll see how it turns out.

I don’t like this game anymore. It made me realize how many of the songs I don’t like.
For this setlist rating game, do I count only the songs I knew/was excited for upon first hearing the announcement, or do I include songs that I decided I liked after listening to but before the game released?
I don’t wanna do it wrong!
Ooh. Nice find on the R.E.M. If the final ~10 are more along that line, this might not be the worst RB set list ever.

the way i did it is the former, songs i recognized and liked right off the bat, but the other way is fine too as long as you use that same criteria for all the games

So, just ahead of RB1 in terms of excitement, although admittedly my musical tastes were way, way more narrow in RB1 era even than they are now. A lot of the songs that I love to play in RB now, are ones I had never heard before until I played them in the game.
And isn’t that a big reason as to why these games are so important?

Reorganized the OP to clean up the mess I made mixing the rumors/leaks with the official releases. So far there are 50 officially announced songs and two un-confirmed rumors/leaks, for a total of 52 songs. Correct me if I’m missing anything.
I’ll see about doing my own take on what songs I liked from the games, but I don’t think I can do a “what I was excited for prior to playing” since I wouldn’t remember which songs I liked before and which songs I like after Rock Band came into my life.
