Hello, I’ve been charting custom songs for a little over 3 years now. I’ve also been briefly part of the RBN scene under the “BronyAuthoringGroup.” The group fell short quickly though but I’ve learned a lot from playtesting other’s charts during my time on it. I’ve also had 6 years of band class at school beforehand which helped get me get started charting fairly quickly.
Completed Songs
RPP/Stems: http://www.keepitfishy.com/customscreat … ending.rar
Side note: Included .dta file needs override the con since Album Track Number in Magma only goes up to “99” while this song is “103”
January 14, 2015 at 5:06 am #436257Will pick it up soon-ish, meanwhile would you like to get playtesting feedback on it or for me to go over it and fix/adjust things on the way on my own? (Also depending on time and stuff I might test/fix one part of a time and not necessarily all at once, I hope that is okay)

(Also depending on time and stuff I might test/fix one part of a time and not necessarily all at once, I hope that is okay)Feedback would probably be the best
January 16, 2015 at 1:06 am #436328Alright here is the test for Part 1. Don’t worry about the wall of text, the chart is good, just the length of the song and loads of small errors making it seem worse than it is ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
Apply any Expert changes to lower difficulties when applicable
GENERAL:
-Audio: Remember to have a count-in before the music starts to prepare the players
-Audio: Seems like it’s too loud, having a master limiter with a threshold of -5 (meaning it’s 5db louder) seems excessive as the song is probably loud enough as it is to be audible in game (maybe even too loud by a couple decibels without a limiter?)
-Audio: Also, adding a master limiter tend to make the mix sound a bit muffled, so it’s better to go into each induvidual instrument and make sure the stem for it doesn’t clip or is muffled
-Audio; Guitar: Seeing as there is two nearly identical Mono Rhythm Guitar stems, I am completely sure they are supposed to be panned, one 100% left and one 100% right. As it is the guitars sounds a bit tinny so I imagine the panning was the intent from the artist as it is a common studio technique to have two rhythm guitars panned to their own speaker. Remember to also do this with the rhythm guitars in the backing stem, and that the Lead guitar should be put in the middle still
-Audio; Guitar; 98.1: Might need to increase the volume of the Guitar here after panning before the other guitar comes back in, either that or for this part only make it not entirely panned to one side and instead left at 50% panning or so (do what sounds best)
-Audio; Backing; 206.1: Raise the volume of the rhythm Guitars here by about +3db. Consider lowering the volume of the lead Guitar by -1db as well
Be sure to apply the audio mix notes to all parts of the song so it all matches up in the end
-Venue: Possibly a bit too strobe heavy at spots so just make sure nothing will be a big seizure danger (mostly concerned about the part starting at 15:40 in the preview video)
-Rating: I think part 1 would be suitable for a FF rating even if not all the other parts might due to all the references to war and death
-Genre: Completely Optional And Subjective: Metal (Prog) works as is, though I would have personally gone with Metal (Power) seeing as Symphonic Metal like this is closer in sound to that of Power Metal even if the piece deploys Prog Metal sensibilities
-Tier: Don’t know what the band tiers are, but I would suggest 5-dot or Devils for Part 1 at least
___
GUITAR:
-Left Hand Animation: Be sure to have space between markers (some spots like the slide on 41.3 don’t), otherwise the hand will teleport instead of move normally it seems
Expert:
-7.1, 84.1, 94.1, etc.: These R/Y chords should be G/Y to stay consistent with places like 114.1 and to not clash with stuff like 203.1
-8.2.50, etc.: Move these R’s up to Y
-9.2.50, etc.: Move these G’s up to R
-14.3: Move these R’s up to Y and the G’s coming after to R
-39.2.50, 43.2.50: These R/B chords should be R/Y
-145.2.50, etc.: Make these G/Y chords G/R
-158.1 to 163.4, 166.1 to 171.4: Move these notes down one notch, having the muted strums on Green
-205.4.75: This last chord doesn’t exist
SOLO:
-210.1: Should go like this (also note reductions):
-213.3: These grace notes might play better on a triplet grid instead of being straight 32ths
-216.1.75: Sounds like a missing R here
-218.1: Outch, complex and sloppy stuff here indeed. Stuff should be charted on grid and for the intent when possible though, so I *think* this is how it should be:
-221.1: Should be 3 triplets here going G-R-Y on grid
-221.2: Should go R-Y-B-O-B on a 1/20th grid instead of R-Y-B-Y
-221.3: Should be triplets and go G-R-Y-R-Y-B instead of G-R-Y-R
Hard:
-9.2, etc.: Avoid quick jumps between Orange and Green on Hard, consider making these Y/O chords Y/B to fix this without having to underchart it
-21.1, etc.: Move this G up to R to fix the G-O jump
-21.3.50, 23.3.50, etc.: Keep in this Green. Also applies to Keys with this riff once it enters there
-41.3: Move this O down to B
-98.2.50, 99.1.50, etc.: Remove this G to avoid the G-O jump and to not make it too hand-cramp inducing
-99.4, 101.4, etc.: These sustains seems a bit too short at this tempo, I would recommend making them unsustained. The Orange sustains have to be made unsustained to avoid too quick of a jump between O-G
-104.4.50, etc.: Remove this single Y
-138.4.50, etc.: Remove the single note (and later chord at 142.4.50, etc.) in between each chord change here as well
-193.4: Move the B/O chord down to Y/B
-205.4.50: Remove this chord
-242.3: Shorten the O sustain by a 16th to leave room for the jump down to G
SOLO:
-206.4.50: Remove this R
-207.2, 207.3.50: Remove this Y
-208.1.50: Move the G up to R, move the R up to O and add in the missing note at 208.2.50
-211.3: Make this B a O
-211.4.50, 212.4.50: Keep in the note here
-215.3.25, 217.2.50: Shorten the G sustain by a 16th
-222.1: Shorten the O sustain by a 16th
Medium:
-98.2, 99.3, 100.2, etc.: Moving the R-Y here up to Y-B while leaving 101.3 etc. as is might make this riff feel more natural to play as it portrays the pitch movement and variation in more detail
-130.2, 131.2, etc.: Move this to XXX.2.50 to fit with the rhythm pattern better
-222.1: Shorten the O sustain by a 16th to 8th or so
Easy:
-7.1, 11.1, etc.: No need to shorten these sustains more than Medium when there already is a 4th or more gap before the next note
-20.1, etc.: Try to keep the note density matching in this riff between Guitar and Keys after applying my notes for Keys (note wrapping should still apply to the G/R/Y principle on Guitar though of course)
-84.4, 88.4: Remove this Green
___
BASS:
-Animation: Should set the strum animations to [map StrumMap_Pick] seeing as the song is played with a pick
Be sure to apply any Guitar notes for Bass as well in cases of similar/identical parts where it fits
Expert:
-12.2.50: Missing Y
-24.1: Move these G’s up to R
-29.1: Move these G’s up to Y
-92.1.50: Pretty sure this 3-note gallop should be on a straight grid still, just sloppy playing making it sound otherwise
-105.2.50, etc.: Seems a bit much with the 32ths here, would say to make this slide just be three ascending 16th notes and have the third Orange note be a sustain in places where that fits
Hard:
-92.1.50: Missing note
-112.2.50, 113.2.50, etc.: No need to leave out this note
Easy:
-7.1, 11.1, etc.: Same as Guitar
___
DRUMS:
-OD Fills: Make the OD fills be a full measure instead of a half measure for any parts above the 80bpm range
-49.1, etc.: I see the cymbal swells here are baked into the backing stem, though feels a bit weird to not have them played either. Might be acceptable to chart it even if technically not in the stem, though up to you
Expert:
-10.4, 87.4: I think this roll lane would work better if shortened to only include a 128th of the last snare note here
-15.1.50: These Green toms should be Blue, pretty sure they aren’t floor toms and would play better anyways to have them be a different color than the crashes
-26.7.50: Making these Blue cymbals Yellow might play better since they are such a different sound from the previous Blue cymbals
-38.1, 42.1: Could potentially play better with the crash on Blue here to avoid the color clash with the floor toms
-194.1.50: Green toms might work better as Blue toms here too
-Single Pedal; 6.3.66: Moving this kick to 6.3.83 might work better
-Single Pedal; 158.2, 158.4, 159.2, etc.: Try moving these kicks one 16th back before the snare/hat hit, think it would make the section feel more natural to play and be closer to how one would play if they only had one pedal to use for a performance
-Single Pedal; 225.1, 250.3: The double kicks in between toms here are too fast for single pedal, make them single kicks
Hard:
-7.4, 11.4, etc.: No need to reduce these 3 snares
-8.75, 8.2.75, etc.: At 100bpm it’s okay to have some 16th notes on Hard on Drums, so this snare will probably feel better if left in
-29.1: Too many kicks in this section, try to avoid more than 2 8th kicks in a row on Hard
-88.1: You generally shouldn’t chart something on H/M/E that doesn’t exist on Expert, so I think the snare here should be consistent between difficulties
-178.2.50, 178.3.50, etc.: Removing the hi-hat going along with the snare here might make this section better to play. As it is now it seems a bit too hard for Hard
Medium:
-8.3.50, etc.: Might be acceptable and more fun to leave in this snare at this tempo
-122.4, etc.: Remove this kick, I have seen from experience that two or more 4th kicks in a row is too much for most Medium players
Easy:
-General during 160bpm parts: Bit borderline to have constant 4ths at this tempo, consider adding some breathing room here and there between transitions of sections and such
___
KEYS:
I will assume reductions are identical on 5L (5-lane Keys) and PK outside of necessary wrapping, removing of octaves, etc. so make sure to apply reduction notes to both and make sure everything matches
-Tier: Would probably be better as 4-dot than 3-dot, think there is too much fast movement to be 3-dot material
Expert:
-5L; 3.1: Think this Orange and the one at 5.3 should be R or Y, then have the chord at 6.1 be B/O. Seems like it makes more sense when thinking of octaves in the piece itself compared to the Pro Keys wrapping
-5L; 7.3, etc.: These notes are on the wrong grid, should be on the triplet grid and be aligned similar to the reference MIDI
-5L; 111.4: Move the Y-R up to B-Y to avoid a pitch clash
-84.2: Consider moving this C an octave up to avoid it showing outside of the lane during the shift. Sounds like there is a higher octave trumpet playing the same note anyways so might not feel all that awkward compared to other wraps
-204.3: Might be fun to chart the trills (without a trill lane) here instead of the backing orchestration, especially seeing how it is pretty prominent
-259.1: This is sustained on PK but not 5L, needs to be consistent between both (I would say no sustain might play better)
Hard:
-109.4, etc.: Make short sustains like these unsustained
-142.1: I think this would play better on Hard as all full 3-note chords, the broken chord systems going on here seems a bit too complex for lower difficulties
Medium:
-15.2.35, 15.4.35: Remove this note
-138.1, etc.: The broken chord here seems a bit too much for Medium, at least when it jumps up to Orange
-108.1, etc.: Make this O unsustained
-142.1, etc.: Need a full 4th gap between the end of the sustain and the next note on Medium when chords are involved on Keys
Easy:
-General: Avoid having notes be a 4th or closer on Easy
-15.1.66, 15.3.66: Remove this note
-16.4, 18.4, etc.: Remove this note
-24.1, etc.: 4th length is too short for sustains unless the tempo is around the 80bpm mark. Shorten these sustains throughout the song into unsustained notes
-46.2, 47.2, 48.2: Move these to XX.2.50 to be within the rules of note density and more rhythmically correct
-49.3: Leave in this note and remove 49.2 and 50.1 instead. Also applies for the repetitions of this melody
___
VOCALS:
-Tier: 4-dot seems a bit low to me, would say this is at least 5-dot, maybe Devils when counting in the harmonies and stuff
Some instances of S sounds being charted at the end of note tubes by a 64th or so, so just fix that if you notice it while fixing other stuff and it seems grating
-24.4, 26.4, etc.: “es” is a 32th too long
-129.1: “+” is a 32th too long
-137.1: Sounds like the slide should both start and end a 64th earlier
-148.1: I don’t think the word “Harmony” have a capital H, unless the lyrics here refers to The Elements of Harmony
-165.1: “soil” should start at D#, slides up to a F at 165.1.50
-169.1: “keep” should start at A#, slides up to C
-177.1: “day” should start at A#, slides up to B
-192.1: I don’t think the word “Unity” have a capital U in it
Harmonies:
-41.1, 45.1: HARM1 and HARM2 should switch pitches here. Both should be in the third octave during “Celestia” (HARM1 is currently in the second octave)
-41.2, 45.4: HARM3, “a” in “Celestia” should be A#
-147.1: HARM3, “beat in Harmony” should go A#-C-F-F-C
___
Be sure to if you haven’t already to activate audio encryption and to set up numeric song ID in Magma for when recompiling with the fixes implemented
January 16, 2015 at 4:21 pm #436359For the most part, I applied majority of the feedback you gave, here’s the updated RPP. Let me know if I missed anything.
https://www.mediafire.com/?c3ibbjemax9kkb3
-194.1.50: Green toms might work better as Blue toms here tooThese are floor toms according to the reference midi, I’d also like keep it consistent to parts like 204 & 241.1.50
-148.1: I don’t think the word “Harmony” have a capital H, unless the lyrics here refers to The Elements of Harmony-192.1: I don’t think the word “Unity” have a capital U in it
I got the lyrics from here which seem to have those words capitalized on purpose
January 16, 2015 at 4:28 pm #436360Alright will take a look at the edited RPP’s once everything is tested, will start testing Part 2 later this evening most likely
January 17, 2015 at 5:19 pm #436467PART 2:
GENERAL:
-Audio: Mixing advice from before still stands, though the volume of the guitars sounds fine for Part 2 so no need to do anything for them but panning the rhythm guitars in both the Guitar and Backing stem
-Audio; Backing, 4.1: The bells sounds like they are clipping, should see if it is possible to make that stem in particular sound less distorted
-Genre: This part I would say is undeniably Prog Metal though so if you changed the genre for Pt. 1 I would say you don’t need to do so here even if so
___
GUITAR:
-If possible, try to make sure that chords are consistent between parts if all parts are in the same general scale with the same general chords. I have no idea if they are or not, but thought I would point it out
Expert:
-23.1: Might work better as G/R chords rather than single G’s
-30.4: Moving these down to Y-B-Y instead of B-O-B might feel better as it’s technically closer to the pitch of the higher note in the following chord
-31.5 and out, etc.: Chart the lead guitar sounding guitar here instead of the rhythm one, more fun that way
-44.1, 47.3: Think all of this would play better as chords (G/R for the G notes, Y/B for the R note, Ho/Poed B/O for the O note)
-75.1 and out: Also some uncharted leads here that would be better charted
-83.1 and out: Think these R/Y chords should be G/R, and the G/R ones at 91.1 and out be G/R/Y
-97.4.50, 99.1: This chord might play better as a G/R/B one
SOLOS:
-38.5.50: Might play better as G-R-Y-R-Y-B-G-R-Y-B-O to preserve the pitch motion better
-39.4.50: Move the R-Y-B-O-B here down to G-R-Y-B-Y
-40.1.50: The 3 three-note gallops here are actually 4-note gallops on a triplet grid
-40.6.50: Try moving this O-B-Y-B-Y down one notch, I think it might play better that way
-43.4: The O sustain should end here
-107.2.25: Move this B a 16th forward and make it a forced Ho/PO
-107.4.50: This 3-note line should be on a triplet grid instead of 32ths
-108.1.25: This lead should be 4 notes on a triplet grid instead of 5 ones at a straight one
-110.2: I think this lead is on a 1/20th grid, with the final note in it landing on 110.3
-111.4.50: Should go like this (also note the reductions as before):
-113.3.63: Would work better wrapped as B-Y-R-G instead of G-B-Y-R
Hard:
-30.4: No matter what you do on Expert with this, move this O-B down to B-Y to avoid the G-O jump
-36.1: Move this G up to R to fix a pitch clash
-40.5: Re-wrap this part to avoid the pitch clash at 41.1 and to preserve the pitches on Expert better
-100.4.50, 104.4.50: Remove this G before the G/Y chord
___
BASS:
-Animation: Should also have picked bass strum map animations
-Tier: 4-dot seems a bit much for this part, 3-dot seems more accurate to me
Expert:
-27.3, 27.7, etc.: Not sure if charting these strum mutes would feel all that good to play considering it’s all single notes to begin with. Also inconsistent with 31.1 and out etc. which don’t have the string mutes charted
-38.7.50, 40.7.50: Sounds like the B and O here is the same pitch as the previous Y’s, just a bit sloppily played
-43.4, etc.: Slides seems a bit extreme here as well, though not as extreme as Pt.1 was originally. Basically, try and match how slides are charted to that of the fixed Pt.1 chart
-66.3.75, 72.3.75: Sounds like a missing strum here
-109.1, 113.1: This Y might be a G
-121.1: Might feel better to end the sustain here instead of at 121.2
Hard:
-37.7: Remove this note
-38.3.50, 39.2.50, etc.: Consider removing this note
-66.7: Remove this note
___
DRUMS:
-Drum Mix: I just noticed the mix event is set to drum0? Seeing how it seems each part has it’s own stem wouldn’t it be better to set it to 3 with a separate stem for kick, snare and kit?
-OD Fills: Same as Pt. 1
Expert:
-66.2: Pretty sure these G Toms are actually mid-toms and should be charted to Blue
-83.1, 85.1, 87.1, 89.1: Make the cymbal hit on each of these spots a Blue and animate it as Crash 2. Different sounds than the other Greens here and would make this spot more accurate and more fun to play as a result
-91.1: Sounds like all the crashes here are the same one, if so move all the Blue ones up to Green and make the China on 97.4.50 a Blue
-99.1: Same thing as 91.1 in this section, just with spots like 99.4.50, 101.4.50, etc. moved to Blue
-102.3, 110.3: Missing Blue China
-Single Pedal; 38.1, etc.: Think this would play better like this:
-Single Pedal; 113.4.25: Might work better to move the kick at 113.4 to here
Hard:
-55.2.50, 50.2.50, etc.: Remove this kick to avoid having three 8th kicks in a row
-107.2.50, etc.: Constant three 8th kicks in a row is too much for Hard, make these match 99.1 and out instead
Medium:
-25.1: Double cymbals are usually frowned upon on lower difficulties. Seems okay on Hard here, but I would say to make these only Blue cymbals on M/E
-30.9: Consider making this G tom B on here (drag the Blue Tom Marker from before to cover this note as well to enable it)
-32.7, 36.7: Remove the cymbal going along with the snare here to ease up the 8th jump a bit
-37.7: Consider leaving in this tom but making it a Blue one
-39.7.50: Consider leaving in the Blue tom here (not the Yellow one)
-41.5.50: Consider leaving in this first Snare
-44.2, 48.2: Consider removing this hat and instead keeping in the R/G flam right before it
-75.7, 77.7, etc.: Might feel better to leave in this Snare as long as you keep out the hi-hat
-99.4, 100.4, etc.: Remove this kick
-106.2: Consider removing this Snare, move the Yellow tom a 8th back and add in another Blue tom at 106.3.50, more rhytmically correct that way
Easy:
-General: Avoid 8ths on Easy on regular tempos
-24.9: Remove this first cymbal hit
-32.7, 34.7, 36.7: Remove this hit(s)
-86.1.50: Remove this first Y tom
-98.1.50: Remove this first R/G flam
-99.1: Don’t put 3 limbs into use like this on Easy. I would say to either remove all the kicks in this section or all the Crashes outside of spots like 99.1, 103.1, etc.
-106.1.50: Remove this first Snare and consider moving the other notes in this fill a 8th back to be more rhythmically correct
-113.4: Consider removing one of the toms in this tom flam
___
KEYS:
-Tier: Don’t know what the 5L tier is, but I think that would fit well as a 2-dot even if Pro I can see fitting well as 3-dot
Expert:
-75.1: Need a 8th gap between chord sustains on X/H, needs a 4th gap on M/E
-5L; 6.1, etc.: Make this R a Y or B, and the Y before it R, to preserve pitch movement
-5L; 11.9, etc.: Move the Y to R to avoid a pitch clash
-5L, 17.1, 36.1: This might play better if moving the R sustain to G, the Y-B-O at 17.6 to R-Y-B, and then moving 18.5 to Y-B-O
Hard:
-5L; 11.9, etc.: Move the Y to G
Medium:
-General: Need at least a 3/16th gap between the end of a sustain and the next note
-General: Need a 4th gap between the end of a chord sustain and the next note
-12.1, etc.: Think the sustain lengths here should be like it would be if the time signature was X/4
Easy:
-General: Need a 4th gap between the end of a sustain and the next note
-12.1, etc.: Same sustain thing as Medium
___
VOCALS:
-Animation; 81.6: Might look better to leave the vocalist in [mellow] here than [idle]
-General: Some notes seem to either be a 64th off sync or be a 64th too long with a ending S sound in it, so look out for that and fix it as you see them
-General: Also some notes that might work better if started with a slide-in due to how the vocalist sings them (mostly on HARM3) so also something to look for and consider if you notice it
-86.1.40: Missing “ha#” here
-86.2: Sounds like this part is overcharted and half of the “ha#” notes here are just reverb, though not sure
-91.1: I would say to add the choir singing here to be also on Solo Vocals until the lead vocals come back in at 99.1
Harmonies:
-59.4: Have this phrase end here and have the full “prime” slide be inside of the next phrase along with the HARM1 part for scoring purposes
-86.1: I think the two evil laughs are supposed to be in sync, if they are I would say to chart them in the same rhythm even if the HARM1 one is a bit off sync at times
-91.1: Have HARM1 sing the lower part in the choir here and HARM3 the higher part until the lead vocals come back in at 99.1
January 19, 2015 at 4:41 am #436568Okay so it seems the guitar solos are gonna be a long set of slideshow pictures as is for Part 3 (and possibly Part 4) because it’s incredibly hard to explain a lot of this. Would you mind if I for the guitar solos only did a MIDI instead and left notes for everything else?
January 19, 2015 at 5:01 am #436570Sure that’ll be fine
January 21, 2015 at 4:47 am #436702Pt. 2 has been updated with your feedback
http://www.mediafire.com/download/vcl2p … se_pt2.RPP
-Animation; 81.6: Might look better to leave the vocalist in [mellow] here than [idle]I was actually having the drummer sing the “Nightmare Moon” vocals in HARM1. It was my mistake putting [play]’s in the first place from 75.1 to 80.1. So would it be better to have [idle_realtime] instead at 81.6?
January 21, 2015 at 5:43 am #436704Ah I see, yeah putting it to realtime at 81.6 and keeping at that until 99.1 would probably look good
January 26, 2015 at 11:48 am #437078Alright here is the playtest for Part 3 finally, sorry it took so long
Also here is the MIDI with the solo fixes in it: http://keepitfishy.com/d.php?54c628db699b5
GENERAL:
-Audio: Same mixing stuff as before
-Genre: Both Power and Prog works here. If you are okay with it I might edit the visualizer for it to say “(Power/Prog)” when I make the special C3 visualizer pictures (which when thinking about it might also fit for all the other songs I guess lol)
-Full Band Tier: Unless it already is, make it Devil Tier for sure
___
GUITAR:
Expert:
-10.4: Move this O down to B to differentiate it from the high pitch guitar squeals otherwise charted to O
-12.2, etc.: Move the R-Y-B here up to Y-B-O and 12.3 etc. from O-B-Y-R to B-Y-G-G
-26.4: Might work better as a chord to differentiate it from the high squealing guitar sustains before and sounding chord-y, also make the O note right before it a Ho/Po chord
-29.1.25, etc.: Could play better to have this G note right after the G/Y chord be a forced on Ho/Po
-45.1, 47.1 etc.: Consider making the first note a forced strum
-51.1.75, 51.3.25, 52.1.75, etc.: This first note should be a matching chord instead of a single note
-52.4, 64.4, etc.: Should match 26.4
-84.1: Sounds like these chords should be G/R/B instead of G/R
-85.3, 87.3, etc.: Move these R and G riffs here up to Y and R as it is higher in pitch compared to the same riffs previously in the song
-92.2.75: Have the solo marker start here
-124.1.25: Inconsistent with other occurrences of this riff
-138.1: These R/Y chords sounds like they should be R/Y/B or R/Y/O
-139.2.75, 141.2.75, etc.: Missing G strum here
-140.2, etc.: Make this Y/G chord a forced Ho/Po
-140.2.50, etc.: Make this G a Y
-140.3.50, etc.: Make this R/B chord a forced Ho/Po
-140.4, etc.: Make this G a R
-146.4, etc.: This jump to a G/O chord seems a tad awkward, might work better as just a O sustain
-156.1, etc.: These R/Y chords should be R/Y/B
-158.4.50: Move this B down to Y
-161.2.50: Move this R/B up to R/O
-163.4, 180.4: Should match 146.4
-171.4: Might also work better as a chord
-173.1, etc.: These Y/B chords have the same pitch as the Y/O ones surrounding it, have them match
-175.4.50: Move this O down to B
-180.3: Make this R-B into Y-Y
-227.1, 232.1, 234.1: Shorten the strum lane to only have a 128th of it cover the last note instead of a 32th
-235.1 to 236.4.50: Move this whole thing one note up, then make the riff at 237.1 and out match how it was earlier (with the R notes to Y)
Hard:
-11.3.50, 13.3.50, etc.: Consider removing this note
-12.4.25: Consider keeping in this R for the sake of rhythm
-14.2.25, etc.: Consider removing this note
-14.3.50: Move this G up to R, and if removing 14.2.25 etc. keep in the note right before it too
-44.4.50, 46.4.50, etc.: Remove this note
-51.1.75, 51.3.25, 52.1.75, etc.: Consider keeping in this chord, then make the single note right after a Ho/Po
-84.1: Reduce the G/R/B chords to R/B if following my above note
-234.7.50: Remove this note
Easy:
-131.5, 132.5, 135.5, etc.: Consider keeping in the R here
___
BASS:
-Apply any changes from Guitar to identical and similar riffs when applicable here
-I see there is no left hand animation here (didn’t check for the other parts if there were), should be quick and easy to just copy the ones from Guitar and edit them a bit if you want to add that extra touch
-Should also have picked bass strum animations
___
DRUMS:
-2X Pedal: Don’t know if the other songs are like this, but the track name has to be “PART DRUMS_2X” to compile properly in Magma and create a 2x Pedal version in the same song compile instead of “PART DRUMS (2x Bass)”
-OD Fills: Same as before
Expert:
-7.1 and out, etc.: Sounds to me like the Y and B toms here are the same tom. If so, put them all to Blue, and then put the snares here to Y Tom as they are such a notably different sound than the ghost snares coming before this section and the normal snares coming after (consider animating the Y’s as RH Percussion)
-50.1.75, 50.3.25: Consider moving these crashes to Blue due to they all being different cymbal sounds
-Single Pedal; 147.1, 164.1, etc.: Over-reduced, keep these as 8ths instead of 4ths
Hard:
-General: Seems a bit undercharted at times, possibly Medium as well. Gonna try and list everything I find, though when the tempo is in the 100-110bpm range you don’t have to reduce things to the same degree as higher tempo stuff
-2x Pedal; 18.2.25: Remove this kick
-18.3.25, 18.3.75: Keep in these snares
-20.4, etc.: Remove the crash here and put back in the kick/crash at XX.4.25
-26.3.25, 56.3.25: Keep this snare
-34.4: Move this Y to 34.4.25
-42.3: Consider keeping these as 2 snares and 2 blue toms instead of snare-kick-b.tom. Also consider moving the B and G tom down to Y and B for the reductions
-43.4, 44.4, etc.: Move this kick a 8th back or to XX.3.25
-46.3.25, 46.3.75: Keep these snares
-50.1, 72.1, etc.: Undercharted, make it go G-RG-RG-RG-RG-R instead of G-R-R-G-R-R-G-R
-83.3.75: Might be fun to keep one of the kicks here
-92.3.25, 92.3.75: Keep in these snares
-93.1.75, 93.3.25, etc.: Keep in these snares
-96.3.25, 96.3.75: Keep in these snares
-100.3: Make this go R-R-K-Y-Y-B instead of R—K—Y-B
-108.1: Keep in all the toms and snares flams here and remove the kick at 108.2.50 and 108.3.75
-112.3.25, 112.3.75: Keep in this snare
-130.1: Flesh out this fill a bit more
-142.4.50, 146.3.50: Remove this kick
-147.1 and out for the rest of the song: Thin out the kicks a bit here, seems a bit too much for Hard on this tempo
Medium:
-General: Fill out some of the fills a bit more here and there
-26.3.50: Consider keeping this snare
-34.1: Keep the Blue cymbals and remove the Yellow ones for this measure
-43.2.50, 43.4.50, etc.: These sections seems a bit empty on Medium, consider keeping the ride or kick on these spots
-50.1, 72.1, etc.: Keep in all the crashes here (keep the kicks under the crashes as is though)
-93.1 and out: Might wanna thin these kicks out a little bit while keeping in the snares at 93.2.50, 93.3.50, etc.
-100.3: Same as Hard, just without the kick in the middle
-108.1: Remove the kicks in this section and instead keep in most of the tom and snare flams
-239.2, 240.3: Keep this cymbal
Easy:
-50.1, 72.1, etc.: Same as Medium, just entirely without kicks
-108.1: Same as Medium
-231.1, 233.1: Keep this more like Medium
-239.1: Feel free to keep some of the blue cymbals here at least
___
KEYS:
-Make sure similar and identical parts match those on Guitar and Bass when applicable
Expert:
-84.1: Might work better as chords (probably B/O on 5-Lane)
-239.1: Think these slides would be better as glissando notes (if you want to keep the F# notes as F#, perhaps just make the notes before it a glissando)
-5L; 138.1, 188.1, etc.: I think these Y/O chords would play better as G/B or R/B
-5L; 162.1: Should see if it’s possible to avoid the pitch clash here, possibly by moving the G-R-Y here up to R-Y-B. Seems to be a easier task to do without feeling awkward on the reductions perhaps
-Pro; 188.1: Should be chords identical to that of 138.1 from the sounds of it
Hard:
-141.1, 145.1: Think this G note should stay in, possibly instead of the R/Y chord before
-243.1. Make this chord into G/R/B instead
Medium:
-43.2.50, 44.2.50, etc.: Remove this note
-141.1, 145.1: Keep in this G note, also applies to Easy
-5L; 231.5.50, 233.5.50: Make this G/O chord into R/O, seems a bit much for Medium to throw in that big of a chord in a moving pattern
Easy:
-231.4, 232.1, 233.4, 234.1: Remove this note
-231.7, 232.2, 233.7, 234.2: Keep in this note
___
VOCALS:
-It seems none of the slides have lyrics on them in the project (as in, missing the “+” lyric) for whatever reason
-As before some stuff is a 64th or so out of sync or too long or short etc. though it’s not a big deal so just something to keep in mind when fixing other stuff
-Tier: Due to the big range of the harmonies it could possibly be better put as 5 dot even if the melody is simpler than part 1, up to you
-52.1, 74.2, 78.2, 118.2, 122.2, 126.2: Might play better if splitting these phrases in half here
-125.1: Should probably not have OD here so close to the end of the playable notes
-147.1 and out: Consider putting a percussion part here on Solo Vocals, would probably be fun to play along to considering it’s a pretty long wait from here until the song ends
-32.2: “all” should start a 64th later and be about a 32th or 16th longer
-57.3.50: Move “of” a 32th back
-61.2: Either shorten the start of “Please” here or have it quickly slide up from A#
-68.3.25: Missing lyric and should shorten the start of it by about a 32th while extending the previous note by a 32th
-71.1: Shorten “Must” by a 32th
Harmonies:
-Lyrics: Don’t remove lyrics entirely from one harmony part when you want to see the lyrics for another one. Keep the lyrics in but add a $ sign behind any lyric you want to hide, for example “ahh$”
-57.1: Shorten this HARM3 note and/or adjust phrase markers so there is no HARM3 bleed into the next HARM2 phrase, as is it’s unfairly difficult to combo
-43.1: Sounds to me like HARM2 have the same pitches as HARM3 in this section outside of the held “ahh” notes
-50.1, 72.1, 116.1: Not sure I hear the pitches in the lower harmony charted here, sounds like it’s the same pitches as the lead singing?
-50.1: Likewise, it sounds like this part has the same pitches as HARM3 sung one octave up
-65.1: Same as 43.1 just with HARM2 and HARM3 switched around
-72.1: Same as 50.1 with HARM2 and HARM3 switched around
-109.1: Same as before
-116.1: Move HARM2 one octave up over the lead melody with the same pitches
Harmony pitch feedback is of course done by ear so if you have some sort of extra isolated parts for each choir part or something that makes it clear the pitches charted are correct as is then keep them of course. Also I am not the best with harmonies so I am not 100% confident so if you want I could ask someone else who is better with harmonies than me to take a quick look
January 31, 2015 at 8:02 pm #437487PART 4
Guitar Solo fix: http://keepitfishy.com/d.php?54cd344845d14
GENERAL:
-Audio: Same as before
-Events: [music_end] and [end] are lyric events instead of text events, which can break all practice sections in game as a result. Be sure to fix this and check all the other parts for this as well
-Overdrive: Noticed some phrases being 2 measures long (shouldn’t be longer than 1 measure unless it’s a very high tempo) and some spots being a bit dry on it (most notably the last minute or so having no OD)
-130.1, 207.1: Apply any fixes from Pt.1 here to all instruments where applicable
___
GUITAR:
-Tier: Looks more like a 5 dot to me than Devils
-68.1: Apply any fixes from identical and similar parts from Pt.1 here as well
-83.1.50: Think this section up until the interlude at 94.1 should be marked as a solo
-217.1: Same as 68.1
Expert:
-130.1, 207.1: Make sure the chord progression here matches that of Part 1 post-fixes (no idea if it does or not, just saying as a heads up)
-130.2.50, 130.5.50, etc.: Sounds like there should be three 16th single strums here instead of a chord
-133.5.50, 210.5.50: Make this R-G-Y go B-Y-R
Medium:
-85.2, 89.2: Keep this as a sustain
Easy:
-88.1: Pitch clash with previous note
-94.1 and out: Move the Y’s down to R
-95.4, etc.: Move this R up to Y and to XX.5
-97.1, etc.: Move this R-R-G-G up to Y-Y-R-R
-133.1, 210.1: Would be better to put in 3 notes into this measure instead of 2
___
BASS:
-Animation: Same as before
-75.1: Apply any fixes from identical and similar parts from Pt.1 here as well
-217.1: Same as 75.1
-Carry over any fixes from Guitar for similar and identical parts when applicable
Expert:
-88.3: Missing note
-106.1, etc.: Pitch clash with previous note, I would recommend making the previous notes R here personally
-109.6.50, etc.: This section sound to me like it should be all within 4 pitches, so move everything except the O’s obviously up 1 note up to and including 116.4.50 (or equivalent ending point in later repetitions)
-129.6.50: Pitch clash with coming note
-216.4.50, 216.6.50: Keep in this note to stay consistent with Guitar’s reductions
Hard:
-134.2.50, 211.2.50: Copypaste error
-203.4, 204.4: Copypaste error
Medium:
-General: Sustain can be a 3/16th in length on Medium and don’t need a full 4th gap afterwards
Easy:
-98.5, 100.5: Move this back to XX.4
___
DRUMS:
-Track Name: Same as before
-OD Fills: Seems fine for the stuff on 3/4 and 5/4 and similar, though make the stuff on 4/4 be a full measure
-74.1: Apply any fixes from identical and similar parts from Pt.1 here as well
-156.1: Same as 74.1, only with Pt.2
-217.1: Same as 74.1
Expert:
-226.1.66: Make this a Blue crash and animate it as Crash1 Hard LH, while animating the two surrounding crashes as Crash2 Hard RH
-229.1: Consider making this a double cymbal hit to make it feel more epic
-2x Pedal; 83.1, 86.1, etc.: Inconsistent cymbal placement from 1x Pedal, make 2x match the 1x chart in the cymbal department
-1x Pedal; 110.2, 112.2, etc.: Move this kick back a 16th
-1x Pedal; 139.4.66, 139.5.66, etc.: Move this one 16th forward on a triplet grid
-1x Pedal; 140.2, 140.5, etc.: Move this kick back a 16th
-1x Pedal; 150.2, 151.2, 154.2: Move this kick back a 16th
Hard:
-97.6.50: Remove this kick
-98.1.50, 98.4.50, etc.: Move this kick to XX.2, XX.5, etc. instead
-101.6: Consider removing the Green tom in this tom flam on Hard and Easy (keep it as is on Medium)
-102.1.50 and out: Consider removing some of the double kicks here due to the high tempo
-110.1, 112.1, etc.: Remove this snare
-125.6.50: Remove this kick
-138.6.50: Remove this kick
-140.1: Remove this kick
-227.1: Seems a bit too much for Hard, try halving the kicks here
Medium:
-98.2, 99.2, etc.: Remove this kick
-109.6.50 and out: See if it is possible to have this be managable while still having in these more prominent crash hits on Blue
___
KEYS:
-4.1: Apply any fixes from identical and similar parts from Pt.2 here as well
-32.1: Should be consistent between Pro and 5-Lane if this broken chord is sustained or not (I would say non-sustained might play better)
-78.1: Same as 4.1, just from Pt.1
-156.1: Same as 4.1
Expert:
-48.1, 65.1: Should be 8th gaps after the sustain here and on Hard (4th gap on Medium)
-5L; 45.1: Consider charting this G as a G/B chord
Hard:
-23.2.50, 27.2.50, etc.: Having 3-note chords in a constant moving pattern seems a bit much for Hard
Medium:
-20.1: Sustain too long
-84.1, etc.: Remember to have a full 4th gap after chord sustains
-102.4, etc.: G/O chords seems a bit much for Medium
Easy:
-9.1: Think you could fit 3 notes per two measures in here instead of 2 notes per two measures
-13.1: Also seems a bit over-reduced from here on out until 22.1
-105.1, 109.1, etc.: You would be able to fit in 3 notes here if you want, which I also think would make for a better rhythmic feel due to XXX.3 and XXX.5 being more prominent than XXX.4
-225.1: Seems you forgot to reduce this part going forward
-229.1: Pitch clash with previous note
___
VOCALS:
-Slides: + signs missing from this song as well
-Phrases; 28.3, etc.: When possible and no harmonies overlap between phrases, you want a little space between each phrase marker to prevent potential visual glitches
-Tier: Due to the range being B1 to G4 and having involved harmonies I would say it should also either be 5 dot or devils even if the melody isn’t super complex on lead
-Some more 64th stuff to fix as you see it, though more of it here than in the other parts to be extra varry of it here
-24.1: “morn” should start a 16th earlier
-25.1: Move “Cas-” a 64th back and extend “tle” by a 32th
-30.2.50: “all” should slide up faster to C
-33.1: “Prin-” should quickly slide up from D#
-51.2: “from” should start at C at 51.2.13 and the slide down to A# should come a 32th late
-122.5: “fill” should slide down to A# at 122.5.37
-130.4: “rise” should be a 32th shorter and “lifts us” a 16th shorter
-131.2: “from” should start at C at 131.2.25 and the slide down to A# should come a 32th later
-179.4: “So” should be F
-207.4: “rise” should be a 32th shorter, “lifts us” a 16th shorter and “up” a 32th shorter
-208.2: “from” should start at C at 208.2.25 and the slide down to A# should come a 32th later
Harmonies:
-Choruses: Seems the lower harmony here is wrapped one octave up in chorus 2 and 3, should keep it consistent between all choruses and either wrap it for all of them or not wrap it at all
February 6, 2015 at 9:54 pm #437853Here’s part 3 updated: http://www.mediafire.com/download/zp9qt … se_pt3.RPP
Part 3:
GUITAR:-140.2.50, etc.: Make this G a Y
-140.4, etc.: Make this G a R
I’m fairly sure these are the same note.
DRUMS:-2X Pedal: Don’t know if the other songs are like this, but the track name has to be “PART DRUMS_2X” to compile properly in Magma and create a 2x Pedal version in the same song compile instead of “PART DRUMS (2x Bass)”
Strange, I’ve always been doing that and Magma had no problem creating a 2x Pedal version with it, but I’ll fix that regardless.
-7.1 and out, etc.: Sounds to me like the Y and B toms here are the same tom. If so, put them all to BlueThe reference midi shows they are different, unless I’m reading it wrong
and then put the snares here to Y Tom as they are such a notably different sound than the ghost snares coming before this section and the normal snares coming afterIf the toms are different I could move the section up so the Y/B toms will be B/G and Snares to Y tom.
VOCALS:-65.1: Same as 43.1 just with HARM2 and HARM3 switched around
-72.1: Same as 50.1 with HARM2 and HARM3 switched around
This was intentional though due to Celestia vocals being on HARM2 and Luna vocals on HARM3
-Drum Mix: I just noticed the mix event is set to drum0? Seeing how it seems each part has it’s own stem wouldn’t it be better to set it to 3 with a separate stem for kick, snare and kit?Forgot to respond to this but, every part was set to drum3 at first, but I switched to drum0 hoping to reduce the file size and stop the crashing for the full 25 minute version, which didn’t work. I forgot to undo it though when I sent the project files in.
I’ll put the drum3 back to all parts except for part 3. Unfortunately the entire Percussion Orchestra is in one stem, so it’ll sound weird not hearing the taiko drums if you missed a kick and such.
February 24, 2015 at 11:06 pm #439242Reuploaded all of parts 1-4 to account for the mixing, drum mix events, and LH bass animations:
http://puu.sh/gbwOY/0442a659d7.rar
I’m also adding “Pt.#:” to the song names similar to the 2112 dlc if that’s okay.
http://puu.sh/gbg2d/8bc17702be.png
Part 4:
BASS:-109.6.50, etc.: This section sound to me like it should be all within 4 pitches, so move everything except the O’s
I’ve recreated this part by ear and I’m fairly sure these aren’t all within the same 4 pitches
