I could imagine it has something to do with multiple instrument tracks…
Is that the only unique thing about the Gaga song?
I’ve not seen any issues on the PS3 stuff for weeks.
I’ve been doing a ton of conversions from ‘other customs’ and a fair bit of compiling using:
Magma 3.29
CONTools 3.67
Yesterday I upgraded both when this issue appeared and I realized I missed one update on both utilities.
Hamburgerjung, what version did you use to convert the ones posted to the database?
April 16, 2015 at 1:02 am #442921OK. Ran 2.68 with all 5 titles tonight.
Type 2 encryption with 10 seconds, for ALL 5 songs.
All titles worked except Lady Gaga.
It locks the PS3 up during preview while browsing songs, and if you select it.
I reconverted that song using Type 3, with the same results.

I can confirm exactly what you wrote above.
That’s why I expect it’s an issue around multiple instrument tracks like we discussed some pages before on this thread. I can remember the only solution was to take parts of the converted wii songs…
April 16, 2015 at 5:02 pm #442990Weird, this PS3 freezing issue definitely flew under my radar.
I have around 1050 customs (C3 and others) and never ran into a hard lock of the system until this week.
My luck finally ran out

I guess it has nothing to do with luck but with restrictions of our PS3 systems… ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
Again, I can imagine there is an issue with too much instrument tracks, cause we are talking about multitrack songs right now.
When I have time, I can try to mix up the files from the wii song with our PS3 converted song. As I can remember there is a similar issue with too much instrument tracks on wii consoles. That’s why stackoverflow put in a reduction of those multiple instrument tracks to get it working on a wii.
April 18, 2015 at 11:44 pm #443181I have some doubts about something. I want to play the unexported enter sandman from RB1 in RB2 and i was wondering if i could modify the songs.dta from, lets say… the metallica pack, to include that song and make it playable on RB2. Would that work? Oh, and is there a way to play the RBN megamix on ps3?

One Dream Theater song froze my PS3 (cant remember if it’s Through her Eyes or Through my Words), turns out it was the .png that was not correctly converted to .ps3 and was still .xbox, also the mogg was only 38KB… Did you notice anything of that effect in the folder?
April 19, 2015 at 11:56 pm #443234If the album art is still in .png_xbox extension, it should not be found by the game and nothing displayed. If it has the .png_ps3 extension but the data hasn’t been converted, it should display a corrupted image. In either case, the album art itself should not be crashing the system.
Now, the audio file being 38KB is a sign that that file wasn’t converted or uploaded correctly and might crash the game since obviously it’s a corrupt file.

I just re-upped both songs and hope they work now! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
April 26, 2015 at 11:05 am #443759I really want to get into playing customs but don’t have a whole lot of money.
Is the following possible?
– Sending my current slim PS3 (it was manufactured long before PS Jailbreak, so model-number wise it should work) to get downgraded (it’s on the latest OFW) to play customs
– Buying a superslim PS3 and plopping in a hard-drive for OFW stuff
Or should I just buy a new PS3? Mine is over four years old now and crashes pretty often with RB3, but I think that’s more RB3’s fault (bad port/etc) than anything else. The above is only about 130$, as I have a spare laptop hard-drive on-hand to put in.
A new slim PS3 that would be CFW compatible seems to be about 230$ though, which is pretty pricey. Phat/Original PS3s aren’t very much lower and would probably die a lot sooner than a slim.

Is your current PS3 working for you for other purposes? If so, why not buy an Xbox 360 and use that for Rock Band? No issues, everything works as expected. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
April 26, 2015 at 12:00 pm #443766The 360 option did cross my mind but then there’s the issue of peripherals, or more specifically (all of my guitars are broken now), my drum set.
I use a stock TB:RB drum kit. Used, it would run about 100$ it seems, unless I’m just seeing overpricers but I see 100$ somewhat often on eBay and that sounds about right.
I’ve had a RB2 kit break on me (after only using it for a couple months, too), so I’d really rather not get that and I dislike the IONs so that’s out too. The TB:RB kit works great to me and it’s incredibly sturdy.
A banned Xbox 360 though seems to be about 50$ or less—that’s a major boon in favor of the 360. I’d never care about online play so it being banned just means a cheaper console to me.
I think I’ll end up going the 360 route—seems to be cheaper either way. And I shouldn’t really be worried about picking up a used drum kit—mine is used, after all (because I’ve used it for so long), and works great after years of playing.
360 customs are just loaded off of a USB stick, right?

Exactly.
April 26, 2015 at 8:05 pm #443841A slim PS3 that fits the CFW requirements (build before record date) is recommended if you ask me, cause you’re on the save side with it.
It doesn’t matter if you got the latest OFW on it or not but you’ll need a programmer to downgrade the PS3.
Just have a look on this side and you’ll get an idea for how it works and the risks of jailbreaking the console.
But if you have the choise I would agree to Farottone – the 360 is the much more easier console for RockBand!
April 28, 2015 at 1:28 pm #443975FWIW, I had no trouble finding someone local to downgrade my fat ps3 for $65 (saw them cheaper if you were NOR, but had to look a little harder to find someone who did NAND systems). Most folks that do this sort of thing will also give your system a clean out and can do minor repairs (new fans, etc) to keep it going longer. my fat ps3 has been running since the RB1 days and the only work it’s required was a $20 repair to replace the bluray laser.
one other reason to stick with ps3 is if you’ve already bought DLC and want to keep playing it.
