Gep, I had the same issue with 4 of 5 that came from Fridays Anniversary release, Madonna being one of them. Are you on the most current version of the tools? After the update, All but Lady Gaga was working using type 3 default. I have a theory that if a custom is compiled with a new version of Magma and I run the con through the last version of tools then I get a lot is this kind of stuff happening. They seem to work better in series. My best results since around Christmas or so with the least amount of headaches (almost none) has been with the most recent versions before the 3/27 updates. Again, this is just what it seems is happening and only a theory. I will definitely be updating both promptly for now on regardless.
April 13, 2015 at 1:24 pm #442662You guys just need to wait for the designated PS3 person to do his job. That person is kept appraised of changes that affect how the files work and how they interact with the Tools. You guys (the end users) are not informed of such changes.
In this case, C3 changed encryption methods and unless you are on the latest C3 CON Tools, the PS3 Converter can’t convert the audio for use with the PS3. Your first solution should be to make sure you have the latest (and greatest) version of the Tools. Or just wait for the dedicated PS3 person to do his thing ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
April 14, 2015 at 7:46 pm #442779I tried the designated ps3 file from the song database but it doesn’t play either so that’s not going to be THE solution since the ps3 download either works or doesn’t just like the 360 con. At least we can mess around with the 360 cons more than once to (try) getting them working ourselves. Still worth a shot if nothing else works tho.
April 15, 2015 at 12:22 am #442805I’m doing more than simply the typical ‘end user’ task, as I’m also authoring, albeit with my PS3.
So I have to constantly do the conversions on my Magma stuff for testing.
We PS3 guys/gals also have to use the tool to convert ‘Other Customs’ to PS3 format, as most all the authors there do not do that extra step.
We’re just trying report the issue/bug.
I downloaded the latest Madonna-Borderline PS3 version from the database, and it is still doing the same thing.
Stuck at the ‘Loading’ icon/graphic.
As I mentioned before, I’ve never seen this pop up on any C3 release or on any of the 300+ ‘other customs’ that I’ve converted, so this seems unique to that title for some reason, I’ve not tried the other 4 in this week’s release.
Is there any other info that may help track this problem down?
April 15, 2015 at 12:25 am #442806Problem was already explained and solution suggested. It’s an encryption issue. You need to be on the latest C3 CON Tools. If you ARE on the latest C3 CON Tools, and this is still happening, send me PS3 converted song that has that issue so I can look at the PS3 file itself. If you’re using an older version of C3 CON Tools, it will not work on your PS3.
April 15, 2015 at 12:27 am #442807Have the versions on the database been generated with that latest version by hamburgerjung?
April 15, 2015 at 12:29 am #442808Should be. I’ll ping him.
April 15, 2015 at 12:30 am #442809If not, I’ll be happy to give this a retry with 3.68 (the latest version I saw).
April 15, 2015 at 12:32 am #442810I don’t understand how what you’re talking about (you’re charting your own songs and converting them) has anything to do with the C3 songs though. They are two issues. You should be on the latest version for your own uses as well, so you should be trying v3.6.8 no matter what hamburgerjung has been doing.
April 15, 2015 at 12:44 am #442813Nothing to do with C3 songs, unless the CONTools PS3 converter broken, in which case songs will not work on my system from C3, and possibly from my own WIP’s depending on the severity of the bug.
I’m not sure why you’re busting my chops.
I’m not disagreeing with anything you’re saying.
I use both Magma and CONTools, and try to stay on the latest version.
I’m also authoring (ask far), with my PS3 as my testbed.
If something is broken between Magma and CONTools, I’m interested in finding a solution.
I’m trying to help out.
April 15, 2015 at 12:47 am #442814Not busting chops. I’ve now mentioned or asked more than once that you need to be on the latest C3 CON Tools. Still haven’t said that you are or provided problem files if you are. I can’t test on PS3 but the changes made were confirmed working on PS3 by a PS3 user before I released those updates. Any problems to fix I need specific details and files to look at.
April 15, 2015 at 1:10 am #442817If not, I’ll be happy to give this a retry with 3.68 (the latest version I saw). You should have done this first if you didn’t already. Can you confirm?
These problems seem random sometimes. I had no issue with the Madonna song once I updated but you still have a problem with the same file. I also create customs and use my console to test, I think we can all say that. I had the skipping song issue only once on my own custom. No idea why and (thankfully) it corrected itself on the next playtest after compiling again. Ask the author to recompile for you and see if anything changes.
April 15, 2015 at 1:19 am #442818Gep, if you don’t have it working by tomorrow, I can upload my working ps3 files of Borderline if you’d like. I’m curious if it gives you problems as you would think it wouldn’t.

No, because of this:
You guys just need to wait for the designated PS3 person to do his job. That person is kept appraised of changes that affect how the files work and how they interact with the Tools. You guys (the end users) are not informed of such changes. We are being told to sit on our hands. I know from past experience that TrojanNemo will have some ‘prerelease’ versions of the tools that he uses privately with debuggers to hash out any issues. I helped test the PS3 setlist feature using this method. My translation of this response was that there was possibly a version not released yet that was used this week.
That said, djmike534, were you successful in converting? If so, what setting on encryption did you use?
April 15, 2015 at 1:37 pm #442850Don’t just read part of my message, read the whole thing:

Seems to me like Step One is not being done. Always, with any software, make sure to update your copy of the software before reporting a problem, because that problem may have been fixed already.
It’s not a setting in the converter, it’s just the code that makes it work that was changed. The looping animation problem is caused by audio encryption that the game doesn’t understand, not MIDI/EDAT encryption.
