February 9, 2015 at 12:16 pm #438013I have no clue why those 2 are not working, but I do see them in my song library and it’s not .mogg or milo files cause song doesn’t freezes when you select it and the preview plays fine, it’s almost always the problem in song.dat when you get that kind of error “unable to load song skipping”.
Have you tried to convert the EDAT files manually?
For some reasons a few songs have problems to be converted by C3 tools and after I encrypted and decrypted these files manually they work…
February 9, 2015 at 12:20 pm #438014Nope, I’ll try to do it later when I get home, I’m at work now.
February 9, 2015 at 12:25 pm #438015That reminds me, I was wondering if you or anyone else on a PS3 has figured out why some customs (I know of like 8 or so) show correctly in the RB3 library but play no preview and get stuck on the load screen which requires a hard reboot most or all of the time? I thought I had it figured out once but I can’t find a common denominator between them.
I fixed those problem along with trojannemo manually using wii .mogg files and little editing, there is a thread about how to fix those kind of songs.
Look on the bottom of this page how we fixed those songs with freezing in the menu problem:
Oops, I’ve forgotten there was a workaround regarding this issue.
Thanks for this information!
February 9, 2015 at 1:28 pm #438017When I was talking about lowercase, I was referring to the customs folders that go on the PS3. No customs will work if this folder is in caps. The info in the dta can be either upper or lower without causing an issue.this is 100% incorrect. as far as RB is concerned, there’s no difference between a “custom” and a “stock” song – we’re tricking it into thinking these are stock DLC tracks. I have both sock and custom songs that use uppercase, and they all work fine so long as they’re quoted and all fields match. Forcing everything to lowercase also works, but is not a requirement. The C3 tools currently move things to lowercase during conversion due to earlier assumptions that everything needed to be lowercase, but I’ve got examples of mixed case working so long as it’s quoted and all fields/files/dirs match. Unquoted fields are treated as lowercase, so if you want case respected, it must be quoted.
Obviously everything else can be mixed case or we’d have no properly cased artist/album/song names – but you’ll note that every one of those is quoted too ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
I found the fact that both customs in question had unique characters in the artists names quite interesting. Tried renaming but no dice. Can’t figure out why both titles refused to even show in the RB music library. I was expecting the stuck load screen.Try moving one of your “good” songs after these in the songs.dta. does this “good” song still show up? If not, it generally means a dta parsing error – missing bracket or something else the game didn’t like. I don’t think I’ve had one yet that didn’t show up in the library if the dta was well-formed, but also haven’t tried either of these. Could be that in editing it something else was accidentally changed and broke the dta structure. While I agree that odd characters in the paths could be an issue here, artist names and such won’t matter – there’s a bunch of working songs/artists/albums with ! and probably something with + too.
That reminds me, I was wondering if you or anyone else on a PS3 has figured out why some customs (I know of like 8 or so) show correctly in the RB3 library but play no preview and get stuck on the load screen which requires a hard reboot most or all of the time? I thought I had it figured out once but I can’t find a common denominator between them.you’d have to list specific tracks (here or in the thread for broken songs) to get help, but there’s was a (single) recent version of the C3 tools where an encryption issue caused this, and at least one old issue that was mentioned above. If you’re using the latest package to convert CONs or using existing PS3 files from the song database you should be fine – and if not, please post the specifics so we can get them working.
February 9, 2015 at 2:01 pm #438019I have no clue why those 2 are not working, but I do see them in my song library and it’s not .mogg or milo files cause song doesn’t freezes when you select it and the preview plays fine, it’s almost always the problem in song.dat when you get that kind of error “unable to load song skipping”.actually, my observation has been that “unable to load song, skipping” is either something with the dta (paths/case/etc) OR it’s the midi.edat. most songs work fine with type 1 encryption, but some specifically require type 2 – and if you’re encrypting the midi with type 2, use a long timeout (10 seconds) to be on the safe side. I usually do a quick visual check on the dta/paths and if they’re fine I re-encrypt the midi with type 2. so far that’s always worked for me on an “unable to load, skipping” error.
great that someone has them in their library – that points to either an error due to some manual editing of the songs.dta while testing, or perhaps something has changed in the package between then and now… viperi, any chance you still have your rar file around, or would be willing to extract the songs.dta entires for these two tracks to see how they compare with ones generated today?
February 9, 2015 at 3:03 pm #438021Yeah I have both rar files… but they are also available to download in ps3 format in the song database.
February 9, 2015 at 3:08 pm #438022Yeah I have both rar files… but they are also available to download in ps3 format in the song database.yeah, i was curious whether you were using the “stock” ps3 packages vs having converted the CONs yourself. if both you guys are using the “stock” ps3 package from the db, you’d expect the same results. if both of you converted, you’d assume that the conversion process has changed and introduced something to “break” this song on a newer release… though, i suppose even the stock ones started as CONs, so it’s mostly an old conversion vs new conversion question.
February 9, 2015 at 3:41 pm #438023Well I always used con files and converted them by myself as I saw that those 2 songs isn’t working I tried to re download them, but Lycanthrope isn’t available as con file. the other song I tried I used con tools type 2 encryption but it didn’t work either.
EDIT: Now they are both available to download in con format. Tried I was a Teenage Anarchist with type 2 conversion 10 seconds, but it failed
February 9, 2015 at 3:53 pm #438026Well I always used con files and converted them by myself as I saw that those 2 songs isn’t working I tried to re download them, but Lycanthrope isn’t available as con file. the other song I tried I used con tools type 2 encryption but it didn’t work either.Don’t know why it’s not available but I can offer you the CON file later…
February 9, 2015 at 4:20 pm #438028Okey guys I fixed the song Against Me! – I Was a teenage anarchist
What I did is this:
– extracted con file HYK-AM!-Anarchist_rb3con using con extractor
– manually edited song.dta file in this part (‘HYK-AM!-Anarchistv2′( into ( ‘anarchist’ (
– also edited ‘name’ “songs/hyk-am!-anarchist/hyk-am!-anarchist” into ‘name’ “songs/anarchist/anarchist”
– packed new con file using con creator
song works fine ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
February 9, 2015 at 4:38 pm #438029Okey same process fixed the song Lycanthrope.
I changed the name Lycanthrope into lycanthrope on parts as above, and song works fine.
February 9, 2015 at 5:29 pm #438031Viperi,
Do you think extracting the con from ps3 download is key in the successful attempt you made or would you have reached the same results had you used an xbox con directly and just edited the dta the same way? Also You didn’t mention if you had to mess with the encryption so may I assume you didn’t need to?
February 9, 2015 at 5:35 pm #438033well you might try to experiment with just editing the song.dta file from ps3 download and renaming all the files according to changes you made in song.dta. It might also be something was wrong in the package and creating new one fixed the problem. I think the problem might lay down just in the song names like “L” in lycanthrope” and so editing the song.dta file would work.
February 9, 2015 at 5:49 pm #438034I tried but I can’t even get these 2 customs to show in-game at all. Only tried the xbox cons, tho. Renamed custom Id and folder to match & then artist names on the second attempt as they both had a unique character in them. Never showed in game at all which is new for me. Sorry couldn’t helpDid you rename the song.dat file to mach the folders as well?
February 9, 2015 at 6:05 pm #438036I thought I did but not 100% on that. My attention was divided.
