February 4, 2015 at 3:54 pm #437712okey folder structure is something like this: 29fingers/songs/ inside songs folder is song.dta and folder 29fingers where is gen folder, midi and mogg file. All folders have one folder too many as merge songs option I guess looks for files in just the first folder, and as all of my dlc got sub-folders named “songs” I would have to manually rename “songs” folders one by one for con tools to accept it and add it on the song list.
When I rename “songs” folder for each song to names 1,2,3 and so on they get on the list… the thing I would like is that con tools looks for the files needed for merging inside sub-folders as well, or just 1 more layer of directory so I can just copy all of my dlc songs directly into “songs to merge” folder, that way it would find the files that are in the “songs” folder as well. As it is now I have like 700 folders and I would have to manually rename them one by one.
Next update to C3 CON Tools changes how the Merge Songs feature works. Before it would search for folders in the Songs to Merge folder. Each folder in there should be a song, so it would be like this:
Songs To Merge/Artist – Song/songs.dta file
In your case (if I understood correctly), it would be:
Songs To Merge/songname/songs/songs.dta file
So that would fail because the converter would look for the songs.dta file in the songname folder and it’s not there.
Going forward it will search all the folders inside Songs to Merge for songs.dta files and go from there. So it will work with normal structure as we’ve been using, as well as the nested structure from the games. That should do it. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
February 4, 2015 at 4:41 pm #437716yeah that would be much appreciated, as for me and some other people if they copy customs and have multiple folders when they extract custom songs… if they have subfolder, song wouldn’t go into merged songs folder, it always had to be in the main “song to merge” folder. It will be much easier when con tools look for song.dta inside subfolders as well… Might be some people extract songs and get 2 folders, that way they wouldn’t successfully merge their songs.
And yeah it will fix my problem, I wanted to see all of the songs I have in one big library list, and I can do it by putting all of my dlc’s song.dta. But as purchased dlc songs have 1 extra folder level like “ccf0/songs/song.dta or 29fingers/songs/song.dta” I would have to manually rename each “songs” folder and place them into “songs to merge”
February 6, 2015 at 1:38 pm #437807Heya
Thanks for redoing these songs. But these still hangup on the loading screen. The album art shows, the audio for the preview does not play when you select the somg from the list however. I’ve had other songs added at the same time as these that worked correctly.
Thx
Now I created the two songs once again with the newest C3 tools and uploaded both to the database.
Please try again and tell me if it works.
February 7, 2015 at 1:58 am #437883On the latest OFW on a Super Slim PS3 with an ODE, can I play customs? If so, what is the best guide for doing so?
February 8, 2015 at 10:37 am #437963I’m having problems with the 2 songs, both give me unable to load song skipping error. I’ve tried to convert them with type 1 and type 2 10 sec but still got same error. Also tried to use ps3 converted files. I’ve also noticed that song Lycanthrope is not available to download in con file format, says file unknown.
Songs are:
+44 – Lycanthrope
Against Me! – I was a Teenage Anarchist
Could the problem be in the special characters like “!” containing in the name or something like that? I see that in song I was a teenage anarchyst in the first row is “HYK-AM!-Anarchistv2” and in songs.dat under name it stays hyk-am!-anarchist without “v2” don’t know if that matters. In song Lycanthrope only thing I see different is that “L” got caps in the name while in other row it’s not with “L” (name “Lycanthrope”) (song (name “songs/lycanthrope/lycanthrope”)
Here is songs.dta from song I was a Teenage Anarchist:
(
‘HYK-AM!-Anarchistv2’
(
‘name’
“I Was a Teenage Anarchist”
)
(
‘artist’
“Against Me!”
)
(‘master’ 1)
(
‘song’
(
‘name’
“songs/hyk-am!-anarchist/hyk-am!-anarchist”
An this one is from Lycanthrope:
(Lycanthrope
(name “Lycanthrope”)
(artist “+44”)
(master TRUE)
(song_id Lycanthrope)
(song
(name “songs/lycanthrope/lycanthrope”)

ok, the first one _might_ not matter since it’s just the shortname and it’s quoted, but it wouldn’t hurt to change it to something ‘amanarchist’. there are two factors here: windows might not like those paths (don’t know if it tolerates ! in paths), so it’s possible that the conversion process will weed those out or something and then the songs.dta won’t match. the main thing here is making sure that the files/dirs match what’s in the songs.dta. in keeping with the shortname change, I’d probably try setting them all to amanarchist. so change the song name you quoted above to songs/amanarchist/amanarchist too, then make sure the directory name and filenames all match this.
An this one is from Lycanthrope:(Lycanthrope
(name “Lycanthrope”)
(artist “+44”)
(master TRUE)
(song_id Lycanthrope)
(song

yup, you’re probably right on the money here. i’d change the shorname (that first Lycanthrope at the start) to lower case, and make sure all the files/directories all have matching case. Also, it won’t break anything, but the song_id being non-numeric prevent scores from saving, so if you want scores to save, use the checkbox in C3 tools to replace song ids.
February 8, 2015 at 3:07 pm #437967Yeah the PS3 is not going to like these folder names. In 1000 customs, I have never seen dashes, or exclamation points in folder names. Underscores are fine, tho. Try renaming the folder without these, then rename anything in the dta file that matches. There is apparently more than one way to create a dta so some look different for whatever reason but MOST of the info is the same regardless. I recommend just taking out the bad characters. If you rename what needs to be and it still doesn’t work, all that will happen is you’ll temporarily “break” it and you’ll get blank white where the artwork should be in-game and the preview won’t play. You can always rename a try again. If this doesn’t do it, contact the creator of said custom (if you can) and ask to run through Magma without the offending characters. If time permits I will download and mess with your song myself.
Just saw the other replies that came in while I was writing. Windows has nothing to do with it as I use exclamation points in Windows folder names all the time. Also uppercase or lower has no bearing on the custom ID on the PS3 so ignore that, but the folder needs to be lowercase for sure. I broke many a songs trying to “clean up” the names when I just started out here.
February 8, 2015 at 4:41 pm #437972I tried but I can’t even get these 2 customs to show in-game at all. Only tried the xbox cons, tho. Renamed custom Id and folder to match & then artist names on the second attempt as they both had a unique character in them. Never showed in game at all which is new for me. Sorry couldn’t help
February 8, 2015 at 8:46 pm #437984Yeah the PS3 is not going to like these folder names. In 1000 customs, I have never seen dashes, or exclamation points in folder names. Underscores are fine, tho.dashes are fine and exist on other customs. i don’t see anything in my library with an ! though. i know on unix all these are fine, but the PS3 is really just “unix-ish” so I can’t be certain if the filesystem will tolerate them or not. likewise the game may not like them, which is why i suggested the same anyway.
Windows has nothing to do with it as I use exclamation points in Windows folder names all the time. Also uppercase or lower has no bearing on the custom ID on the PS3 so ignore that, but the folder needs to be lowercase for sure. I broke many a songs trying to “clean up” the names when I just started out here.as i said, wasn’t sure if windows would tolerate an ! or not… ntfs is slightly less archaic than fat, but i’m fairly sure they didn’t work on the older format, and if conversions and such are done on windows you can potentially introduce problems as a result. since all the c3 tools are windows, i’m doubting this is the case, but it’s still worth trying.
As I’ve stated at other places in this thread and others, lowercase is not a requirement for anything – the case on everything just has to match, and if you want the mixed case to be respected, the field must be quoted in the .dta. there’s tons of examples of other songs that use mixed case just fine – the key is that they all match, with the caveat that if you just have SongName it’ll be treated as songname unless you quoted it like ‘SongName’. Look at non-custom songs like the RBN tracks and you’ll see uppercase and underscores throughout, but the key is they’re properly quoted.
February 9, 2015 at 2:31 am #437996When I was talking about lowercase, I was referring to the customs folders that go on the PS3. No customs will work if this folder is in caps. The info in the dta can be either upper or lower without causing an issue. I found the fact that both customs in question had unique characters in the artists names quite interesting. Tried renaming but no dice. Can’t figure out why both titles refused to even show in the RB music library. I was expecting the stuck load screen.
That reminds me, I was wondering if you or anyone else on a PS3 has figured out why some customs (I know of like 8 or so) show correctly in the RB3 library but play no preview and get stuck on the load screen which requires a hard reboot most or all of the time? I thought I had it figured out once but I can’t find a common denominator between them.

Yeah, I can see that behavior on the song Beyond Her Tomb by Mic The Microphone from our database and on some other selfmade custom songs as well. And I couldn’t find any solution for that issue yet.
But to concentrate on that issue I would suggest to pick out the one from our database.
I wonder if your hints solve Viperi’s problem…
February 9, 2015 at 9:01 am #438006On the latest OFW on a Super Slim PS3 with an ODE, can I play customs? If so, what is the best guide for doing so?Well, as you might remember there was a discussion around that issue some months ago.
Kloporte wrote about that:
Yes it works with a Cobra ODE, using an older version of Multiman and renaming it “manager.iso” (replacing the Cobra Manager) or SonicMan (works like a game in the PS3_GAME folder). I wouldn’t recommend getting a Cobra ODE though, since it’s super sensitive and can be blocked with new firmwares at any moment. Mine doesn’t work anymore so I’m thinking of getting a Xbox instead. But I don’t have any experiences with that or know if it works with OFW instead of CFW.
February 9, 2015 at 11:58 am #438010I have no clue why those 2 are not working, but I do see them in my song library and it’s not .mogg or milo files cause song doesn’t freezes when you select it and the preview plays fine, it’s almost always the problem in song.dat when you get that kind of error “unable to load song skipping”.

I fixed those problem along with trojannemo manually using wii .mogg files and little editing, there is a thread about how to fix those kind of songs.
Look on the bottom of this page how we fixed those songs with freezing in the menu problem:
